"Hey have you heard about the German dying on Ama Dablam doing the same thing as we did?" "Yeah but we didn't die." 👉 Don't do what Wolfgang did. Put you crampons on if you need to go for a wee. #mountaineering #nepal #amadablam
We do need to end #aukus before it costs us even more but highlighting alternatives would give the demand more weight. ... and it's also incredibly dangerous to throw Ukraine under the bus. It alienates our allies in a time where we NEED to look for better and more reliable partners. #auspol
This is an incredibly dangerous precedent and confirms all the dangers of AUKUS - wargaming Australia as the base for a US war with China - and us even paying for it. We need to end AUKUS before this becomes real.

A pipe under the Taiwan Strait outlasts the politics above it | Leonie Spangenberg
The Diesel Deal is just a despicable manoeuvre so Trump can blame Ukraine for high fuel prices before the Midterms. • russia imports Diesel from Belarus. The can’t deliver anyway. • The amount is negligible and can’t make a difference. • russia provided data to Iran to attack US troops. #auspol

If @mattbevan.bsky.social wants to know why Dr. Gaub is promoting his podcast on Insta, tell him it was me. I told her to listen to this episode 🤣
The talent pool of the Australian Greens for foreign relations and national security is VERY shallow. What a disappointment. They should take some private lessons from the 🇩🇪 Greens. They got high calibres like @agnieszka-brugger.de or @hofreiter.bsky.social #auspol
Within the next four weeks the 365-day average global mean surface temperature anomaly (vs preindustrial 1850–1900) will cross +1.5°C. You'll need to ask Prof. Eliot Jacobson @climatecasino.net about the probability of it dropping below ever again.

I wrote about the state of German politics for WPR. If you want to know what to expect this autumn, have a read.
What. The. Actual. Fuck. 🫢 Meanwhile some NIMBYs want to stop a BESS in our backyard because "green wedge". JFC ...
In order for 2026 to average 1.60°C above pre-industrial, the rest of the year starting today has to average 1.84°C above pre-industrial. And yet, that's the forecast. dashboard.theclimatebrink.com#global
"Hitze ist vor allem für ältere und alte Menschen gefährlich. Mit rund 6300 wurden laut RKI die meisten Todesfälle in der Altersgruppe von 85 Jahren oder älter verzeichnet." Vielleicht sieht Merz das als Teillösung für die Probleme Rente & Pflege? 🤷🏻♂️ Weiss man nie …
This drone attack should be a wake-up call, but who are we kidding? Australia remains totally blank on drone defense and hybrid warfare. Turns out our politicians’ national security expertise is just like our power projection 👉 all talk, no range. #auspol
Germany has an equally disturbed relationship with ACs as Australia has with proper building standards. In this episode Matzig tries to make the point that ACs are unnecessary for residential dwellings. JFC - they're just heatpumps running in reverse and when 🇩🇪 needs them it's normally very sunny.

There's no "here we go again": Somebody in the administration simply found a legal loophole to keep the Trump Tariffs alive and in the SCM world this was expected. The smart thing to do would be to fast-track the ratification of the free trade agreement with the EU. #auspol #logistics #SCM

2 days ago #PitchBlack 2026 kicked off in Darwin and @luftwaffe.bundeswehr.de rocked up with some Typhoons and an A400M www.airforce.gov.au/our-work/exe...
0.022% or roughly 1 in 5000 That's the probability of this happening. If we were to randomly re-live 2026 for 5,000 times and we'd compare each of the 2026 temperatures to the 1991-2020 numbers, we'd only experience this 1 time. You get the point. #auspol #climatechange
As of July 19th update, the Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature is now more than 3.7 standard deviations above the 1991-2020 mean. With the warming just getting started, this El Nino is still in charted territory, but just barely.
"China does not need to strike Bandiana directly to disrupt the value of a Bandiana stockpile." No 💩 Sherlock - China doesn't need to strike Australia at all to massively disrupt the whole country. If the USMC wants to store some stuff in Albury >> and pay for it << let them. #auspol
'The proposed US Marine Corps war reserve stockpile at Bandiana should trigger a sharper Australian debate than the one now unfolding. Can Australia and its allies can turn those stocks into operational effect at the speed, scale and place that strategy demands?' writes John Coyne.
"The level of global oil inventories is now much closer to a 'tipping point' compared to a few months ago, there is less room to absorb a sustained loss of oil flows without prices rising sharply." Fun times ahead! #SCM #logistics
