Since we’re seeing folks get their brains cooked by the Epstein files, resharing this. Some quick notes from it: 1. It is valid to lose your mind over this 2. It *is* a conspiracy and that should be validated 3. But that’s different than the “theories” which are ironically harmful to the cause

open.substack.comHere's Why the Epstein Files Are Radicalizing YouYou may find yourself getting lost in the Epstein files. Maybe you're seeing it happening to others. Here's what's happening and how to process what we're experiencing.

🧵 Elon Musk has donated a staggering $369M to influence the 2026 elections, making him the largest individual political donor in modern US history. And yet, he continues to invoke George Soros as a shadowy force secretly manipulating elections and the world as we know it. Let’s take a closer look.

Hundreds of thousands of children were literally killed due to Elon Musk’s actions. Yet you will still see people treating him like just any public figure, buying Teslas, etc. The world is a dark place. Especially the parts that treat the rich as inherently more valuable than everyone else.

Looking for someone who can help visualize the way hate spreads on social media. Already have the actual content, just need a good animator who can help translate it into an easy to follow explainer that takes someone through the process in a unique way.

Having the pictures of these two men here really helps clarify things. After all, they clearly aren't worried about being kidnapped by ICE, shot by police, having their rights stripped away, or inequality.

The amount of privilege required to be a Democrat and do this is staggering, and should be focused on in addition to the single minded attention to Israel.

Great piece about someone I’m deeply grateful to consider a friend. I can speak from seeing it firsthand, what’s being shared here is only scratching the surface of the amazing work she’s doing to bring together the Jewish and Black communities. Excited to see it develop, especially here in LA.

We are horrified by this plot and relieved no one was hurt. We stand with Hindu and Indian Americans. No one should fear being murdered at prayer. The white supremacist behind it targeted Jews and Black people too, as often happens. Showing up for others is how we protect ourselves.

The best argument for leaving Twitter has less to do with giving oxygen to a Nazi platform than what spending a lot of time on such a platform does to our brains. It’s easy to see how many once normal people on there, right or left, have truly lost themselves in conspiracy theories and false facts.

This is not to say that somehow other social media (including Bluesky) are wonderful. But Twitter is specifically built to push its owners ideology into everyone’s FYP. Combine that with how the tech was always built to spread outrage and brigading, and you have an extremism machine.

That said, Meta products are also quite bad. But Meta’s tech puts you in an echo chamber, which ironically can protect us from conspiracy theories. Either way, my point is be careful what you consume! You may think you’re fighting the good fight when you’re actually what’s on the menu.

No one is immune to conspiracy theories, extremism, cultish thinking etc. We are all susceptible. We avoid these things by avoiding them and putting our energies in places that provide sanity and facts. The belief we are immune is a big reason it has become an issue on the left.

This is just one reason among many that assuming anyone with an extreme take is a bot is often a mistake. Beyond that, the whole “bot” response culture imo becomes a way of projecting onto the world a desire that everyone actually agrees with you.

Adam Serwer@adamserwer.bsky.social

Ok it is obvious that people fake engagement with bots, and that this is often done for political reasons, but the reality is that there are tens of millions of republicans in america, the number of people who would vote for Trump is even larger, and as elections show, these people really exist

The worse things get for them, the more they'll lean into targeting Black people, immigrants, and trans people. These are the areas they've found the most success. But it has and will continue to expand. Back to Muslims & Palestinians is already happening. Or Jews, from the other wing of the movmt.

The news just since I left work: -A planned livestream of an execution by firing squad -Trump basically trying to incite a pogrom against Somalis Nothing mysterious or complicated about what's happening.

This is suuuuch a perfect distillation of the right's rhetoric. Testament to how much they can get away with that he can just say this so baldly.

Q: How do you define socialism personally? JD VANCE: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports

Until there is a stronger reaction to the authoritarian and toxic wings of the left, they will keep succeeding at eating their own. Keep succeeding at winning by losing. The way they disrupted the peace rally Mamdani attended yesterday says it all. They will burn it all down just to make a point.

CT House candidate William Gifford asks if it's antisemitic to "not like someone because they are Jewish" given "what the Jewish religion says against white Christian men." This is hiding a dangerous canard behind "just asking questions." CT GOP and Rep. Tim Ackert, who endorsed him, must condemn.

THREAD 🧵 This week, Elon Musk's America PAC launched hundreds of anti-trans ads, part of a $100 million midterm spend. In 2024, a Musk-funded PAC ran antisemitic ads reminding Muslim voters that Doug Emhoff is Jewish. That's not a coincidence.

I cannot describe the brokenness I felt reading this from the Haaretz piece. The hostages were betrayed by everyone; Israeli leaders, the diaspora leaders & their orgs, the entire pro-Israel industrial complex, and by far and away the millions of people who cried "hostages" to support a genocide.

One of social media's worst dynamics is the way it incentivizes people to take on the most extreme position. There is always someone who can claim to be more pure. The result is that people can constantly shame others by "proving" their bonafides through piling on those seen as too moderate.

These people are ridiculous. The Hebrew they are referring to is a quote from the Torah, "צֶ֥דֶק צֶ֖דֶק תִּרְדֹּ֑ף" ("Justice, justice, shall you pursue"). Some people want actual justice, others just want Jews to erase every part of our peoplehood, including our Torah. In the name of progressivism. So gross.

This is what you get when you build a force to terrorize immigrant communities and recruit for it with Great Replacement fear mongering and slogans borrowed from white supremacists and neo-Nazis.

Pod Save America guys make fun of Vance for not knowing what blood libel is, then proceed to say an even wronger definition. Like, this feels like a comedy. A horrible, horrible, painful, cringe comedy.

This reminds me of this section from Philip Slater’s “The Pursuit of Loneliness” The passage is about individualism but imo the same logic applies to our relationship to technology. We have created our issues through over-reliance on tech, and we then think the answer is more tech.

Interventions like this are only going to grow more common. You can't alter the weather one place without impacting other parts of the world. There will be international incidents, conflict and even war over shit like this. www.independent.co.uk/climate-chan...

Not solely. People voted for him. Other people thought he was no worse than Harris. Others in power, who could have stopped him running again didn’t. A weak opposition party failed to fight back. Don’t put it all on him. He’s only doing this because people let him.

The United States and Canada have been friends, partners, and allies for more than 150 years across 32 presidential administrations. And now, solely because of the arrogance, incompetence, and ego of the current occupant of the White House, that relationship is being driven straight toward a cliff.

One day students will look at the reaction to DSA as part of America’s long history of using terror of imagined communism to entrench right wing politics. And they’ll also be able to compare it to the way multiple nations fell to fascism. We’re just one more, & today is no different than the past.

Really a shame that Hunter Biden is still being promoted as some sort of oracle for the left after he spent months palling up to Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson.

Mike Nellis@mikenellis.bsky.social

Hunter Biden on Natalie Harp’s access to Trump: “It’s not just weird. Who is this person who’s a meter away from the nuclear football, has this level of access to the most powerful man in the world, went a year without a security clearance, and is basically around Donald Trump 24/7?"

Rittenhouse attempted to distance himself from Fuentes after that initial report came out, but he also attended the Kenosha protest with someone that was deep into white nationalist politics and clearly is close to the Groyper stream - as are most rank-n-file young Republicans.

The dismissal of "woke 1" should be called what it really is, the abandonment of Black people. Fine, of course, to talk about the excesses of the punitive left etc. I and many others have been subject to it. But throwing that era away so casually, esp things like "defund" etc, is just retreat.
