… all the time you’re looking at your phone 50 times per hour, doomscrolling, reading news, putting yourself in an anxious state…. have you ever thought that the innocuous device in your hand might be part of the problem? We aren’t conditioned to be so hyper connected, it’s an abnormal state (2/2)

Nov 2024-Nov 2025 has been a fascinating life journey that hasn’t been all too easy, but man have I learned things. If you’re the sort of person (like I was) who despairs and says “the world is so tense right now, why can’t it be like it was in the 90s?”…. (1/2)

Think you’re having a bad day? Imagine discovering you fancy Tom Davis 🙈

Just saw this on BookFace - this is not, and I repeat, NOT a piss take

Went for some blood tests this week. Thankfully all clear but my LinkedIn is now filled with searches from various NHS testing centres. Did they want to see if I was hot or something? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤔

Just had a “people who you may know” on Facebook… an ex from way back in 1999 (I’m shockingly old). And now he’s married to a woman with kids. Wonder he’s as selfish in the sheets with his Mrs now as he was then 👀

Oh gentlemen’s kickball season must have started again.

The guy I had a crush on when I was 14 now has a granddaughter and I’m here at 48 acting like a teenager (with greying hair and achey muscles) playing board and video games every night.

Someone tell that dude he can blink

Window cleaner just caught me drying myself after a shower. Little embarrassing. Today I’m clearly living the plot of a Carry On film…. well a pretty boring one which involves a trip to the vets and tidying the house later.

Restarted my instagram and unfollowed any influencers or “model” types who were basically all about flaunting it. It’s quite, quite dull now.

There’s a page called clearsky you can use to see if anyone has blocked you on BS. One person, and it’s clear from their comments they aren’t into anyone thinking Andor is the best Star Wars ever made. 😬

Plastic Avengers was ok actually. Scrappy in places but had real heart to it.

Perhaps the Gamers are alright

Weekend of board gaming away in Harrogate was going great up until having my first ever panic attack on Friday night….. that was a fucking experience. Was touch and go if I went to A&E as I had no idea what was going on. Anyway I’m not dead so that’s a plus.

Going to Airecon in Harrogate at the weekend. 4 days of board gaming, boozing and eating. I’ll be honest, I’m looking forward to this more than I do Christmas.

I often have random low engagement tv programs on in the background while working at home… you know, to fill the void of an empty house… 😆 At 11 I decided to put on this week’s Gladiators. Beefcakes in Lycra was way too distracting. Had to turn that muck right off!! 😂😂

Paul made pancakes tonight for us. I’ve never seen someone such a dab-hand at these things. He’s been making them to the same perfect shape for the last 20 years. He’s a keeper 😅

I was really looking forward to Monster Hunter Wilds but the current implementation looks more blurry (on ps5) than the previous gen MHWorld on Xbox one x. I might give it a patch or two before I really start play.

Had been feeling incredibly anxious and down recently, what with the crazy state of the world. But had a really chilled weekend where I realised I was just making things worse for myself, bit of a quiet word with myself…been really quite relaxed since then. Probably tells me I just need a holiday.

No matter what is happening in the world we will always have Emu hurling Rod Hull into a freezer to cheer us up!

Skald Against the Black Priory has pretty much captivated my morning.

Made myself a flat white on the old Nespresso. Doing a little bit of coding too… wanting something chilled on Spotify. Went with “coffee house smooth jazz” Nice.

Monster Hunter Wilds day. Will probably pop to Argos at the weekend to pick it up on the PS5 and get it going on the pro. MHWorld was the first time I ever got into a mon hun game. Took me ages to get into it… but boy when I did!!!

This week I watched Dune and Dune Part Two near back to back (over two days, it’s near 6 hours). Today I’ve made a start on Dune Prophecy. On Ep 2 and it’s getting a little more intriguing

Just eat driver couldn’t find our house yesterday and just dumped it somewhere (not on our street as I was waiting outside) and drove off. Raised a ticket and they refused the refund. Went utterly scorched earth on my retort… then they refunded. I shouldn’t really have to do that.

Popped Castlevania Adventure Rebirth on my Wii at the weekend. Genuinely up there as one of my favourite Castlevania games already. Amazing title.

Celebrating the release of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 by playing the original on the PC (I know it doesn’t look like a pc, but there’s one on the other side of the wall, and I got creative with hdmi cables and floorboards)

There’s a pub quiz going on in a bar in Westhoughton tonight. I’ve always been keen to go, but husband doesn’t drink and hates pubs. I’m contemplating going on my own, but I’d feel like a right saddo joining in a team of one

Got Penny’s Big Breakaway from Limited Run the other week. YouTubers and Digital Foundry and the like had spoke highly of it, expected to love it, especially because I love Sonic Mania. Came away a bit meh. Felt like a Saturn platformer, in both good and bad ways. Maybe I need another try

Got myself a LEGO chum.

Wow, this is an absolute game-changer for PS2 users with a MemCard Pro or SD2PSX: Launch games right from the memory card via new software from @bbsan.bsky.social !!! Here's a post with a link to @machonachomedia.bsky.social's awesome video about it: www.retrorgb.com/launch-ps2-g...

So I bought a PS5 Pro and a Dualsense Edge… well, because I wanted to. Was a slightly stressful Christmas with various family members ill in a concerning way. So I think I needed a lift!

Quite exited about the Switch 2, but a direct in April puts the release more like early summer to me!!

Never really played Dr Mario. But giving this GB color Rom hack/remake a try on my LCD GBC. It’s stressful.

Felt like a lazy day for Sonic 1. Japanese version because you have to treat yourself to parallax clouds.

Went out to a local restaurant tonight with Paul which was really nice, but we were back indoors by 9pm, watched a film with a brew. Not exactly a rock and roll new years exactly... roll on 2025. I'll plan for a more crazy NYE 2025 😀

Played on some Azgard’s Wrath 1 on the pc oculus store. Really good fun. The sequel (quest 3 native) has some amazing reviews but wanted to start at the beginning. Had some fun commanding this shark dude around some dungeons, helpful fella.

Spent pretty much the entire afternoon trying out wireless streaming of pc games to my quest 3. Few annoying issues here and there but seems better if I run oculus store games via the embedded pc link and steam games run better via steam link.

The 1.0.4 Switch update for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind is now live and brings a whole bunch of fixes and improvements. The "online" patch has also been submitted to Nintendo and we'll be able to share further updates about that in the New Year.

Work is continuing on turning my old Doctor Who-inspired Amiga game into an actual Amiga game. Here’s a look back at how the current version started out and how it has changed during development youtu.be/0xGt4_wZjwE?...

“Action” seems way too generic.

Last night I played Root for the 8th time this year (almost a record for me) and strangely the first time I’ve ever won…. Although I played the Vagabond! Excellent fun. the reptiles could have won a turn before me but they lucked out on the card draw. #root #boardgaming #ledergames

Decided to drive into work today down to sunny Warrington. There’s no one in the office anyone but I was getting a bit of cabin fever working at home all last week. Got me a bacon barm from Greggs as a treat.

Tree up.

Gun4IR project with 3D printed parts has gone well. Can fold these IR sensors back behind the tv when not playing and fold them back for light gun games. Really chuffed. (Random pic of folded “invisible” sensors at the end)

Need to get something to display my retro handheld consoles…. Some sort of customs display unit with stands. Got a few on here displaying one of my favourite games from each. Bottom row have all got LCD mods. GBA is a sought after GBA AGS 101

Good game of Root at club last night. Always love games with the lizards. #boardgames #root #ledergames
