Welcome to Parliament, Sagal Abdi-Wali ๐Ÿซถ From arriving in Camden as a child refugee, to councillor, to council leader, and now MP for Holborn and St Pancras. Every woman who wins makes the path a little clearer for the next one. Thatโ€™s what passing it on looks like. Congratulations, Sagal ๐Ÿ‘

Two Elect Her women. One shared journey ๐Ÿ’• Fifi is now an elected councillor in Southwark. Davina stood too, and while the result didnโ€™t go her way this time, putting herself forward took real courage. Winning is the goal, but standing is the breakthrough. So proud of you both. ๐Ÿ‘

"I incite this meeting to rebellion." Emmeline Pankhurst, 1912 Our facilitator Patricia wore those words, welcoming Cohort 13 of Peer Support Circles ๐Ÿ’• We're here for the rebellion, women deciding politics belongs to them too, & ensuring nobody has to work it out alone๐Ÿซถ Welcome, Cohort 13 ๐Ÿ’ช

Cllr Hannah Perkin has represented Faversham since 2019. For 18 months she's found AI-generated sexualised stickers of herself around her home; police found no offence met the threshold. She's weighing up whether to stand again. Many women we work with are making the same calculation.

The Representation of the People Bill is in the Lords now. Safety guidance for every candidate, platforms responsible for electoral harms, protection for families and staff: tabled or ready. Making it safer to stand is within our grasp.

A historic first: Fatima Zahra Mansouri has become Morocco's ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆfirst woman Prime Minister, and only the second woman to lead a government in the Arab world. Every first makes the next one more possible. Congratulations! ๐Ÿ‘

What happened last week that matters? ๐Ÿค” MPs passed the Representation of the People Bill, the biggest overhaul of election law in a generation. It's progress. There is a lot more to do! The Bill goes to the House of Lords next. Read more ๐Ÿ‘‰ www.elect-her.org.uk/blog/houseoflords

Different Century. Same Sexism. ๐Ÿ—ž๏ธHow far have we really come? Female political movers have faced sexist comments and discrimination since time immemorial. In the early 20th Century, suffrage activists were mocked and ridiculed in anti-suffrage propaganda.

What if the only thing standing between you & public office was taking the first step? But everyone who is now in elected office started in exactly the same place: with the decision to act ๐Ÿ’ช That's why Elect Her exists. To help that first step into a journey towards public office ๐Ÿ’•

The more voices, the more powerful the sound ๐Ÿ’• A healthy democracy isn't built by hearing the same voices more often. It's built by creating space for more voices to be heard! That's not about representation for its own sake. The more voices we hear, the more powerful our democracy becomes ๐Ÿ’ช
