31-49 year olds are the only age group who can't get a discount on train tickets 🚂 So the @scottishgreens.org are working to introduce a Millennial Railcard giving 1/3 off fares, paid for by a levy on frequent flyers 💚 news.stv.tv/politics/gre...

The UK Government’s approval of the Jackdaw gas field is a climate catastrophe. It'll do nothing to lower household bills. It'll have no meaningful impact on the UK’s energy security. It'll only help greedy shareholders rake in obscene profits. greens.scot/news/jackdaw...

Families on their annual holiday shouldn’t pay the same rate of tax as wealthy and business travellers who fly on a weekly basis. Scottish Greens would tax the super-rich frequent flyers who are wrecking our climate.

Companies like Amazon profited from our communities while giving far too little back. Scottish Greens would tax billionaire online retailers and use the money raised to support small businesses on our high streets.

It's always great to catch up and network with local groups and learn more about services i can share to help improve your lives. I went along to the voluntary sector East Kilbride locality network yesterday to do just that. See links in thread.

The govt itself has admitted Jackdaw won't bring down energy bills or create many jobs. So I asked the PM: does Labour disagree with the overwhelming scientific consensus that fossil fuels must stay in the ground? Or was lobbying from the oil and gas lobby simply too difficult to ignore?

Kirsten Robb reposted

The Govt claiming we must drill more fossil fuels so we can use the tax revenues to fund the green transition is about as logical as a doctor telling you to smoke 2 packs a day to raise the money for your lung transplant You don’t put out a fire by pouring on more fuel 🔥#Jackdaw

Jackdaw will do nothing for the people of Scotland. Plans show it will provide just 2% of UK gas demand, only create 27 jobs, and it will leave us more dependent on gas despite its global fluctuating prices. Investing in renewables will create thousands of jobs and cut household energy bills.

Government support for drilling at #Jackdaw takes a wrecking ball to any pretence of UK climate leadership & pours fuel on an overheating world - and for what? It’s equivalent to just 2 months of UK gas demand, creates just 27 direct jobs & has *no* impact on energy bills🧵1/4

This is unvarnished climate vandalism. Energy bills will not be cut by the approval of Jackdaw. The least we should expect of our Government in a climate emergency is not making things worse. If you're as scunnered by this as I am, join us - www.greens.scot/join

🚨 BREAKING: The UK Labour Government have approved the Jackdaw gas field. This a devastating betrayal of future generations. Jackdaw will make the UK even more dependent on the global gas market. This will do nothing to lower household energy bills and it is dishonest to pretend that it will.

Kirsten Robb reposted

Jackdaw won't bring down bills or create many jobs. But it will leave us even more dependent on volatile global gas markets, and worsen the climate chaos we already see around us. It's shocking that no other party is willing to stand up for our planet against the greed of oil and gas companies.

Kirsten Robb reposted

Labour's approval of the Jackdaw gas field won't cut household energy bills or improve energy security. We need investment in cheap, green renewables to create jobs and cut our bills.

Looking forward to the screening with councillors at SLC!

This weekend we passed an incredible 5,000 screenings on the map. Tens of thousands of people coming together to do the job the government ought to be doing We CAN rise to this challenge, but first we need leaders with the courage to face it. It’s #TimeToStepUp #NationalEmergencyBriefing

Local groups can now register, get approved, and submit up to three requests for support. Whether it's something you've asked for before or a new idea, this is a great opportunity to connect with suppliers who can help. Most requests are typically £250-£1,000. Find out more: https://orlo.uk/91hNd

Day 2 of #ChallengePoverty week is focused on energy. It’s simply not right that so many people are being forced to choose between heating and eating. Everyone in Scotland deserves a warm home 🏠 & enough income to afford the essentials.

The typical household gas bill has gone up by 33% since April. Clean renewable energy generation is Scotland's best path to energy security and lower bills.

Lammermoor Play Park improvements are complete and it's open. We checked it out at the weekend. Just tidying up to do now. Good to see lots included from our park survey report. Use the bins for litter and dig poo please.

The improvements include a lot of the things you asked for in the park survey we did together. A new accessible path to more accessible equipment. Picnic bench. On top of repaired paths, space for nature, sprucing up the 'Lego blocks' and signage to the country park.

An appeal after we did a litter pick there yesterday - please remind friends and family using our new improved facility to put litter and dog waste in the bin provided to keep the park nice and safe for all. Lammermoor Park
