Aka why I’m never getting that gaming PC

Datawrapper@datawrapper.de

Did you notice that new technology doesn't get cheaper with time anymore? Our vis developer @elliotbentley.com did and looked into the reasons (and data) behind it. 📈 👀 🎮️ www.datawrapper.de/blog/tech-me...

Decided to try out the Zed text editor after hearing about it on @syntax.fm. While I love the tabbed worktree management, the performance is rubbish -- constantly freezing up and incredibly slow to search a big repo. Back to VS Code...

Hot new chart types just dropped ❤️‍🔥

Datawrapper@datawrapper.de

🎉🎉🎉 Today we're launching not one but two (!) new chart types tailored for specific audiences: waterfall charts and dual-axis charts. They're available as part of our new Business plan. Let's have a closer look ⬇️

I just want the outline property to take two or more outlines instead of just one so we don't have to hack our way around creating better outlines using box-shadow anymore. I'll take this over a few of the fancy new features added to #CSS and that I use less frequently any day. 🥹

I've been listening to this show since iTunes introduced podcasts in 2005. Thank you to the hosts for their dedication and congrats on an incredible run 🫡

Orange Lounge Radio IIDX!@orangeloungeradio.com

A chapter closes on gaming podcast history with the FINAL Orange lounge radio. Be a part of it live in six hours at 9 eastern, 6 pacific. Catch Bobby live one hour before. twitch.tv/VOGNetwork Thank you all so much for the love 🤗

This weekend I got an inexplicable urge to redo my personal website. Maybe it's all this recent talk of small web. Anyway in lieu of a total revamp, I changed up the serif font, from round Jost to old friend Oswald. And fixed a bunch of broken links. Fight that bitrot, friends!

Hot take but hard to disagree. My prediction is in ten years social networks will be exclusively short form video. Hell probably even internal work messages

Jay Vegas@jvegas001.bsky.social

There isn’t a text based internet social media site that’s actually growing, it’s a dead medium that’s only used by elder millennials, media and bad faith actors

Removed Threads from phone today. Every time I open it, it’s just endless engagement bait. Getting served a cryptic rumour-mongering post from *Scaramucci* was the final straw for me.

Sincere question: why is it so hard to integrate typescript/intellisense autocomplete into copilot/cursor suggestions? The two valid options for this prop are RIGHT THERE and yet the LLM still suggests a third made-up option.
