I can’t remember where I got this photo - years ago - to give it credit. But isn’t it a wonderful feed respite? I just sent it to someone on the other side of the political spectrum a few days ago and it opened up a wonderful conversation.

I was a user interface web developer in my career. Worked with user-experience designers and visual designers. Studied universal usability and accessibility and brought knowledge that to my department. One of the usability tips is to take your prose, cut it in half, then cut it in half, again.

I do not know SEO well. My daughter is working with Claude to improve that on the website I set up for her. Claude told her to add gobs of text on the front page. It is a big mistake from a usability standpoint. But I’m not sure I’m going to win this battle. It’s her company but dang, what a shame.

If anyone knows Wordpress and SEO, we have the Yoast SEO plugin and she has set the homepage as a foundational page. If I was able to make this prose into a separate page and also label it foundational, would that do the same thing towards her rankings? (File this as one more reason I hate AI.)

It's been a lot of years since I've had to write anything but basic CSS (in the Wordpress websites I manage). Today I met a fun challenge, and once again the websites I used to use in my job came to the rescue (Stack Overflow, W3 Schools, and MDN). Dang, I have forgotten a LOT of syntax in a decade!

There's a lot of contrasts in this primary. Medicare for all — @repauchincloss.bsky.social does not support. He's the only member of the delegation not to cosponsor the PRO Act. He only recently signed onto the constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.

Honored and fired up to announce that Our Revolution Massachusetts has endorsed our campaign. Our Revolution is the grassroots movement that grew out of the Bernie Sanders campaign. Neighbors organizing to win Medicare for All and get big money out of politics.

My arms are apparently too short and I’m selfie challenged, so here’s a shot of a doubled up sign so people during rush hour could read from both ways. I was a lone wolf today but there are now a bunch-o-commuters who know Jason is running if they didn’t already. In front of the Millis post office.

A few people waved. A couple of bicyclists smiled and tooted their cute bike horns. A couple of cars beeped. One guy said “f*** you. Another made a turkey gobble noise. (Nothing to see, just two silly boys triggered by an older lady holding a sign in a small town. Such a threat, eh?)

We have sooooo much to do to improve everyday lives that has to do with privacy. Unwanted solicitations, entities selling our names, the amount of wasted paper (trees!) in unwanted mail. Texts. Phone calls. Being put on mailing lists if you have any contact with a business. It’s all too much!!!

Just followed the info in here to say ba bye to Gemini.

There are no words for something like this. I looked to see if there were any efforts to bring the children home. There are. This is a letter describing a program & inviting Vietnam to join. The U.S. should be doing this. The old U.S. would. But not under Trump. www.eeas.europa.eu/ua-oped-may2...

Great article. If you are in MA-4, please read.

"Auchincloss drew the majority of his contributions from donors giving $2K or more. About $139K came from PAC-earmarked donations, accounting for more than 30 percent of his quarterly total. Donations from pharmaceutical and medical companies also represented a sizable share, exceeding 10 percent."

Amen. Don’t just read this. Do it.

If you were horrified watching elected leaders run & scramble because of gun violence, just imagine how my daughter Jaime felt in school running from an active shooter before she was killed. Now, become a part of the solution & only vote for people determined to address gun violence in America.

Hey @sierraclub.org Trump recently ordered the most devastating dismantling of the US Forest Service in 121 years. All 10 regional offices gone. 57 research stations closed. 193 million acres handed to political appointees. I’m a member and want you to speak up! #SaveOurForests #SAVEUSFS

Tiffany is running for Congress. Her #MaineRaising way of campaigning is the best, raising money for the people of Maine. I just made a donation to Ms. Nass fir her classroom. Will you?

Tiffany Bond@tiffanybond.com

Need a place to start #MaineRaising? How about Ms. Naas? She only needs $118! 💰 Donate ✏️ Leave a note about the campaign 📢 Share on social media www.donorschoose.org/project/wate...

I’m voting for this guy! Join me if you live in the MA-4 district. We need policy to meet the times we are in. And representatives of the people, not the donor class.

Jason Poulos@poulos.house

"Poulos continues to underscore that his campaign is not about incremental change, but an acute sense of political urgency. 'This race is about the future of the Democratic Party and whether it serves the donor class or the working class,' he said."

Here’s a thought: if you’re going to start a war (any and all decision-makers) and send in troops, you need to be there with them in the fight. You can’t call the shots from your cushy, distant location. #WarIsNotTheAnswer

Our government is devoid of humanity. It’s all a game to them. Why aren’t there even enough people in power to stop this?

Images show what experts say are U.S. land mines dispersed across a residential area in southern Iran. Human rights groups have long called to ban land mines because of their propensity to harm or kill civilians, often years after conflicts have ended. https://wapo.st/4tf80OJ

My Alexa Show isn’t connecting to my internet. I tried restarting. I tried it suggesting I bring my phone nearby (for whatever reason). Didn’t work. Good riddance, Alexa, don’t forget to close the door on the way out.

My former representative. Proud of him. Thank you @repmcgovern.bsky.social for saying what needs to be said.

McGovern: How the hell is this America first? You guys broke your top campaign promise. Good luck with that. I hope the defense contractor money was worth it. Shame on you all. The mask is off. You're all just a bunch of pathetic Neocon Warmongers.

To my current reps: @repauchincloss.bsky.social @warren.senate.gov @edmarkey.bsky.social To my former rep: @repmcgovern.bsky.social To my governor (and former atty general) @massgovernor.bsky.social And to @gbhnews.bsky.social (BPR). PLEASE! And thank you.

My favorite #nokings moment. In our small town 200+ people stood in front of the town hall and along the street from traffic light to traffic light. The fire department was across the street from where I was standing. In their parking lot, a police car sat, which I didn’t notice until…

A white truck vroomed its engines and raced by us. The guy next to me pointed and said “go get ‘em!” at the same time the police car pulled out of the parking lot with sirens on and pulled him over at the traffic light. Don’t know if he got a ticket but he at least got a talking to. #poeticjustice

I’m going to delete BlueSky and other social media apps. Why? Because I have books to read and words to write and nature to explore and things to create and hope to preserve. I will be staying on Substack; it’s where my newsletter is published. Time is precious and I’m reclaiming it.
