Chuck Schumer — one of the most powerful Democrats in the country — has not issued statements to the press or through his social media channels about the administration’s attack on Ilhan Omar, which critics have described as a five alarm fire for the state of democracy in the U.S.

If a big part of your platform for the midterms isn’t expanding the court and instituting a mandatory retirement age for justices you can fuck all the way off.

#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three Democratic appointees, #SCOTUS issues “GVRs” in the Alabama cases—vacating district court injunctions & remanding for further proceedings in light of Callais. In practice, this means Alabama can now redraw its congressional districts in time for the midterms:

What made Sinners so special to me was the exploration of not just the origins but the cultural significance of black music played in black spaces. Both as a form of community, and perhaps more importantly, a form of resistance in the face of oppression and exploitation. Especially the Blues.

And largely turned conservative, the Heritage and origin of the blues has been whitewashed and overlooked. Early blue singers like Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Son House, etc. became footnotes in the biographies of white rock musicians.

Which brings us back, at last, to Sinners: a black film, made by black people, for black people. It reclaims the history, heritage, and magic of the Blues and the cultural impact it had on the audience it was originally intended for.

Through black musicians like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bo Diddley etc and in turn appropriate by the likes of Elvis Presley the reach of the Blues expanded beyond the Atlantic, where it was taken by British groups like Rolling Stones, John Mayall’s Blues breakers with Eric Clapton, Yardbirds etc
