Political and economic systems collapse. It's inevitable. It may be imminent. We can deny it, resist it, or embrace it. To make the best of it, we need to start adapting now.

Anyone who knows anything about modern geopolitics knows that the Muslim brotherhood does not control any Arab country. It has the most influence in two of our allies - Qatar and Turkey. It was completely at odds with the 20th century governments of Iraq, Syria, and Saudi Arabia, among others.

I've been thinking more about preparing for the hardships we could face in the near future if Trumpists create civil disorder by blocking the election. I found a post by Margaret Killjoy with her speculation about possible developments.

Even a small amount of violence (not an actual war), may overburden hospitals and medical supplies, at least locally. Many effects may be local. I could even imagine homeowners deciding that they no longer like their neighborhood if the government is brazenly corrupt or there is too much tension.

International trade (imports) could be affected too. Ports could be shut down. The dollar could collapse in value. Banks may face added restrictions for 'financing' the wrong people. Anyway. Good luck to you all.

Civil disorder and curfews could cause many people to work from home, so we may see a spike in demand for home toilet paper like we did during the pandemic. But I suspect it won's be such an extreme change.

The service industry may be severely disrupted by curfews or simple wariness of going out and spending money. I don't think we'd see a general Internet shutdown, but maybe some well-resourced actors would try targeted cyberattacks to disrupt opposition organizing.

Expect all of the services you rely on to move more slowly if the Trumpists block the election and effectively shut down the government. Sensitive supplies and services are those that depend on timeliness and complex supply chains. For necessities, think refrigeration for perishable foods.

Fresh dairy, meat, and vegetables may be come scare due to civil disorder. Frozen foods also. The loss of those foods could cause a run on substitutes - canned foods, especially protein substitutes.

I imagine that the USA will not have a full 'leave your homes' conflict in the next few months, but there could be severe scheduling and supply disruptions resulting from mass protests, curfews, mass arrests, a general strike, or riots.

General strikes often develop in response to police repression of protests. Large protests themselves may have an effect similar to a general strike, by drawing many people away from their jobs and disrupting transportation and business activity.

Here are my questions for if an election is canceled: 1. Do we strike across the country, or only where the election is canceled? 2. Do we target or boycott certain businesses? 3. Who should not participate (such as medical workers)? 4. How do we disrupt online, automated, or scheduled business?

First, I want to distinguish between assertive and reactive general strikes. Assertive strikes demand change, reactive strikes defend existing institutions. I think a reactive strike may be easier to organize when an aggressor makes a clear transgression.

the routine, pay for play pardons are all by themselves one of the worst corruption scandals in american history!

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

My brain cannot process this level of corruption. She was being paid $50 million to engineer a pardon from Trump *while working at the Justice Department* as a "Special Government Employee." And it worked. He got the pardon, and she got the money. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/20/u...

I don't know what will follow, but if we don't see a partner who can help us dig out of the Trump-Bibi hole, our relationship will be over. I'm sorry our government has been so chaotic recently. But I guess you know how these things go.

Again, the scandalous thing about Elon Musk spending $276 million on the 2026 midterms is NOT how *much* money it is. The scandal is how *little* money this is *to him.* Compared to his net worth, this is roughly equal to the median American my age spending $40.

The Muslim Brotherhood is a right-wing group.

Reminder that even in his own time, Christopher Columbus was known as a cruel and greedy enslaver, eventually stripped of any political power, and should be left to rot forever amidst a “legacy” of incalculable harm to humanity. #IndigenousPeoplesDay

wrote on saturday that trump was not going to let democrats avoid the question of impeachment and here we are with an offense that would have had a president impeached, removed and *at least* exiled if it had happened at any point prior to now.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

Fools here fantasize about violent revenge on powerful people who are looking for any excuse to use violence. Be ready if you need to defend yourself, but don't go issuing unnecessary threats.

Just as terrorist groups used on-camera executions as propaganda for their cause, this video will be used in recruitment videos by America's enemies for decades to come. It also gives Hasan exactly what he likely wanted when he walked onto Ft. Hood and started shooting.

Thiel, Musk, and Bezos are all building private armies, as is the Trump family. After they destroy democracy, they will fight it out for control of the country, or whatever chunk they can grab.
