Russel is hitting the nail on the head so hard with this post, from mentioning the social aspect of this scene down to the accessibility of electronic music. I've advocated for supporting furry music more than once here and this post exemplifies what makes this medium as powerful as it is.

FURRY MUSIC IS ACTUALLY RLY COOL

A couple weeks back, I mentioned how bringing down this medium, even as a joke, hurts people in the community who want to express themselves. Furry music as a whole is so vast and diverse now yet still so underground.

Honestly, I really don't have much to add outside of these messages because Russel mentions everything that should be said about furry music and its reputation in the community. This is probably a roundabout way of saying it, but I want more people to read this OP.

You may have noticed my absence for the past couple of weeks. I've been distancing myself from social media due to mental health concerns yet again, and this will probably stay that way for another few weeks minus announcements.

I'll fully admit, having been dependent on these platforms for years, it's really hard to just let go of them for a while. I can spend most of my weeks doing offline hobbies but then still have a day where I peek at Reddit for 2 minutes. I don't even really get any joy from it.

I can't realistically quit because it's more of a privilege to be able to be an artist with decent success and use no social media whatsoever, and fwiw it's not like I want to, but using it for the bare minimum aside from passing comments and announcements is more of what I aim for nowadays.

I make an appearance in this! I'm honored to be a part of this comp with all of these talented producers. Lots of variety and high quality music. Be sure to support Flori and her work with this because the proceeds will be going to multiple charities.

SORRY FOR THE WAITTT HERE'S THE PREVIEW FOR MY CHARITY COMP RIBBON SKIES!! ❀️

I find it funny that this subset of young furries keep trying to tell themselves that "there's no good furry music" but also lowkey frustrating given how many of them are willing to do this for the sake of clout and content. More commodification of fandom culture, I guess

You don't HAVE to like PUP or Russel, but it is telling how many of these kids will write off an entire subsection of fandom art just because they don't want to look bad that a musician in their fandom made niche music too sexual for them Don't forget kiddos, you're in a counterculture community :3

Possibly hot take here, the "do minors belong in furry" discourse is far too nuanced of a concept and most, if not all, of public social media is both not ready and not built to have that conversation.

You have to consider so many different factors that a simple question like that does not remotely cover the extent of the issues it tries to tackle. There's both lived experiences and bias, but also legal repercussions and the current state of the world.

One thing that slightly irks me about some of the videos I see of people using their DAW timeline as a visualizer when they share a track/WIP is that they use it more as eye candy instead of actually displaying how the track works.

I've seen so many of these videos where all they do is just zoom up on a piece of their timeline where you only see about 5 different tracks that moves way too fast to comprehend. When I mean eye candy, it's stuff like this, and I think people abuse the fact that this kind of visualizer is "in."

Maybe this is all a personal preference, but I've always seen this style of visualizer as a way to show off what the process and build of the track looks like. As a producer myself, I like seeing how you can break down how each of the pieces work in the track.

Been hearing about this. It's built off of Fluxer which is a Discord alternative without the AI bullshit, ads, or data training. I'd like to be able to use this more often, so you can add me here if you've already signed up!

(I expect exactly less than 5 of my followers to know what I'm even referencing here and everyone else will know nothing and think I am off my meds)

I finished reading the Dungeon Meshi manga recently and there's so much I really like about the whole story, but one thing that sticks out to me is how cat-coded Izutsumi is. Like, I know it's literally hear appearance, but it's so funny how much of her personality is just...cat.

Also after reading it, I'm more than excited for Season 2 of the anime. There's a lot of content in the second half of the manga that I want to see animated but it's gonna be a while before we all see it.

Additional announcement regarding my #bandcamp page I have made the decision to update my full discography discount from 15% to 25%. I hope that this allows others to enjoy the extent of my work and be able to support me without breaking the bank too much.

The price for this has generally been around $20 which I've liked. This won't be possible for when new releases come out as I'd like to keep this specific discount amount for a while, but again, it should help keep my music accessible without it being too steep of a price.

For context, this was made in 2024 during a time I was still heavily experimenting with what flavors of UKHC I wanted to make and it came about with fucking around with Harmor and became one of the only primarily Drum n Bass tracks I've made thus far. And it sounds genuinely clean mostly like wtf

Seriously, when I went through my other tracks there were a few that I have no complaints about looking back, but even within the year after I released this, I made tracks that I look back on and can very much criticize the production. This one really surprised me.

Had a conversation in a DDR discord about DDR misic and I felt alienated with my opinions on rhythm game music as a whole. Trying to explain my position as a musician and how much I appreciate the technical side of the music because of it, but it felt like very few people wanted to listen.

It's been a common thing across many different aspects of rhythm game discussion that I feel like my opinions on the medium feel so different than the popular opinions that it makes discussing anything so hard to do without feeling alone. Not sure what to do about it.

It's nice to have another release after recently releasing another track earlier in the summer. This track is hopefully going to be a part of a much larger project that I hope to share soon. I hope you all enjoy it!
