Coercion in adventure therapy - Conference workshop My accepted abstract for the 10th International Adventure Therapy conference in Taiwan We will discuss the slippery slope of coercive practice and question whether academics who accept/enable human rights violations should present at conferences

“The intentional killing and injuring of Palestinian civilians and destruction of homes in the West Bank combined with Israel’s persistent denial of responsibility form part of a broader strategy to exterminate and displace Palestinians and impose conditions of life that are unliveable,”

Simon Rosenberg@simonrosenberg.bsky.social

"The report found Israeli authorities and forces had continued to 'commit genocidal acts' even after the so-called ceasefire in Gaza, 'with the intent to destroy the Palestinian people'." No surprise that this got hardly any mainstream coverage. #GazaGenocide www.nine.com.au/world-news/m...

Rioting orchestra's ... Seems implausible Perhaps the story is that most protestors, are protestors

John Drury@profjohndrury.bsky.social

We find numerous examples like this -- people present in a crowd being violently treated by police as if they are rioters -- in our research on cases where peaceful crowds become violent and conflict escalates. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/o...

Hope and energy from students ... as always

Adam Schwarz@adamjschwarz.bsky.social

The Student List had no party machinery. It operated through university assemblies, protests and hiking between cities & towns. They had 2% of national TV political advertising airtime vs 93% for Vučić. This is one of the most remarkable grassroots democratic victories in modern European history.

The political discourse threatens more than politicians It has has already enabled genocide, insurrection, mass deportation, incarceration of minors, destruction of an equity-making referendum, race riots, and human rights violations both by govt and non-state actors And this, in under a decade!

"All countries where Rupert Murdoch’s media empire has weakened journalism coincidentally share many of the same societal issues as Australia."

It may be interesting to see how NSW Police were instructed Why did the protests get such different Police responses across boarders?

Yung En Chee@yungenchee.bsky.social

Judge Scott Nash has ordered that NSW police provide internal documents the defence team had subpoenaed, which "would include communications between police, the premier, other NSW cabinet ministers and their staff. The papers would also cover directions by senior police to officers."

Poverty is a policy decision. Concentrated wealth is a policy decision. Inequality is a policy decision. Economic inequality is not some naturally occurring phenomenon. It is the consequence of choices. One question I always urge my students to ask: who is the market organized for — and why?

I'd vote for Ilham Omar just because she is being bullied Are bullies respected in the US? Does the electorate vote with a bully, or against them? Do that in Australia, and you'd virtually guarantee her re-election

In the horror of a Genocide this is a moment of hope. 15 of the children from the Gaza Nipper’s program got back in the surf this week. 30 of the other nippers can’t be found, many have been killed. How has the world made the decision to send so many bombs and so few lifesavers?

Regarding questions about Israel's war on Lebanon: "There's an inevitability baked into such questions, an assumption that further escalation is simply going to happen, and that the onus sits with Lebanon to prepare for it rather than with Israel to stop it"
