I figure no one will be able to understand this pain better than users of this site: I said X, a huge asshole corrected me with near-unfathomable condescension, I bristled and doubled down, and then discovered later that he was right.

Reminder that the White House put Barack Obama and his wife in a video of them as apes and the Saddam Cheesecake Factory line was his comeback 8 months later

Young ‘uns: this stuff happened once a week during Obama’s presidency. Dijon mustard. Moving a bust of Churchill. Inviting a rapper to the White House. Putting his feet up on his desk. They’d scream and cry for days about how effete and snobby and Black he was and how misinderstood they were.

istg I hate this guy worse than Trump or Vance.

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

I think about this and Trump or Vance will sometimes do something and I’ll think, no okay, they’re the worst. Musk is worthy of serious consideration. I’ll forget about RFK for a couple of days. But then he comes back and reclaims his title.

Of the national chain restaurants that all serve the same recipes developed and tested centrally by food scientists and have 37-page laminated menus that include photos, The Cheesecake Factory is without peer.

Hear me out, three kinds of users: a) A pleasure to have in class b) Not working to their potential c) Sometimes a) and sometimes b) depending on if they liked the teacher

It’s funny that prominent AI boosters are rich and have already farmed out the boring parts of life. So they don’t use it how a normal person might (shopping lists, bargain hunts, chore scheduling, ingredient substitutions, minor home repair, whatev). Their use cases are wack to normal people.

This is just the GOP party platform.

TRUMP ACCUSES SOMALIANS OF VIOLENCE AND CLAIMS THEY “JUST RUN AROUND SHOOTING EACH OTHER,” ADDING THAT THE COUNTRY’S ACTIVITIES INCLUDE KILLING PEOPLE AND TARGETING SHIPS.

I was wondering if we’d made progress recently since some RW outrage bullshit fell apart before it hit of the ground, like Talarico checking into an Ohio mental hospital. It appears not!

I love s lot of films made by evil people. I even love some morally reprehensible movies I would never admit to you fine people, who would rightly chase me off social media. But God as my witness, Leni Riefenstahl actually sucks. The filmmaking is ass.

I’m convinced the people who say they like her are one of the following: 1) horny 2) actual Nazis or Nazi-curious 3) getting off on the intellectual frisson of saying they have the aesthetic sophistication not to criticize a film for boring bourgeois reasons.

this sweet girl is pita, she is 1 year old and available for adoption at st huberts in nj...we don't know how or why she has that long scar down her back but what i do know is the people who did it had better hope i never find them

Honestly, I thought we left-of-center types had a monopoly on “this movie sucks because the director didn’t make a completely different movie.” Exciting to see political winds shifting!

JUST POSTED: A Russian energy giant has secretly moved to acquire a position in a massive Alaska gas project. Its part of talks between Witkoff/Kushner & Putin. But CEO of US company resigns after learning of Russian money in the project. A wowzer of a story. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/u...

Given the geopolitical enormity of what he’s saying, I think I should find his misspelling of “discreet” less irritating than I do,

Did he think this was a private message or something?

I traded up to the iPhone 18 pro recently, and this is a pic my kid took of the moon. Not really a stunner, but much better than you used to get with a handheld phone, no additional lenses, and no photography expertise.

He has said he takes it every day—presumably on some level he’s trying to prove something to himself —which I’m guessing also improves his score.

The fact that the president's doctors are giving him the dementia test over and over again -- tracking his decline, most likely -- and that the president keeps bragging about having to take that test should be a five-alarm fire.

If Bluesky were around at the time, almost everyone on here would have been supporting the Americans with guns. The few that would be critical of the Americans would have been the most centrist, anti-commie people on this site.

My medically fragile kid is having a minor procedure done today, every expectation that he will be fine, but still accepting thoughts, prayers, well-wishings, etc, for him to be comfortable and better off for it.

Non-violent resistance and voter registration drives simply would not have worked without publicity. It’s required.

"The Jews who went to Mississippi didn't take selfies and post tweets." Okay, but honestly, if tweets had been a thing in 1961, many of them probably would have done.

This could be turned into a movie and just as easily be a comedy as a tragedy as a thriller.

A Florida man was found dead in his home during a welfare check in July 2022. Weeks later, one of the officers who discovered his body moved into the home and spent years impersonating him, according to investigators.

Musk genuinely thinks that Jews control everything despite being far richer than any Jew, more insinuated into government projects, more able to directly control foreign policy on his whims, more directly involved in elections. Weird guy.

I dunno, I say this like it could possibly be a rational hatred when it obviously isn’t, any more than his literally murderous hatred of Black people and Latinos, than his literally murderous hatred of vulnerable people and trans people and women.

These guys insist pedophiles are everywhere but somehow no woman has actually ever been a victim of one.
