The main problem with vibe-coded games isn't bad code or even AI art. It's that you can generate years of implementation in days, but not years of playtesting, iteration, and design judgment. A game can be finished in a weekend. That doesn't mean it's been designed.

Imagine someone coming to an established open source project and dropping a huge PR with tons of features, badly tested, not following project guidelines, some features not working at all-and expecting maintainers to fix it and merge it. That's how mathematicians feel right now.

If AI ever truly "solves" software engineering, it will have solved most non-physical jobs first. Cheering for coders to get replaced is a bit like cheering for the iceberg because you dislike the people standing at the bow.

If the teased StarCraft game at BlizzCon turns out to be a mobile game, that will be the final nail in the "legendary Blizzard" coffin, and final confirmation that they lost all contact with their audience.

I've managed to beat Larn ( via larn.org ) on my first attempt... of course difficulty 0. But still, this is one of the few roguelikes I've beaten. I regret never having tried it earlier - it has a lot of interesting ideas that would have shaped my roguelike career!

Greetings, mercenaries! Quasimorph has officially left Early Access and launched in version 1.0. For the next two weeks the game will be available at a 33% discount. Thank you to everyone who stayed with us throughout Early Access. Good hunting, mercenaries. #roguelike #turnbased

Classic rogue-LIKE fans, this indie developer made a turn based title with permadeath, procedural levels and pure 90s sci-fi carnage, from the developer of DRL (f.k.a DoomRL) It's called Jupiter Hell Classic, and it's 20% OFF for the Steam Summer Sale!

Each time I finally feel autonomous AI codegen gets a W on my codebases, a few days later a basic significant oversight is revealed that I would never have done building the code myself.

Fun fact: Moria predates Rogue. But not THAT Moria. The 1970s PLATO Moria was a first-person dungeon crawler (proto-blobber?) with RANDOM LEVELS. The Moria that became Umoria->Angband was a later Rogue-inspired roguelike. This is why programmers say naming things is hard.

Finished Half-Life 1. Indeed a masterpiece of its time. I especially love the environments/level design and environmental storytelling. While people point out that Deus Ex was released afterwards, I do have to point out that Dark Forces and Jedi Knight were released before!

I will have to retract my fairly positive opinion about Claude and agentic code tools in general. While they do work fairly competently with the DRL mixed FreePascal/Lua codebase, against the much larger C++/Lua codebase of Jupiter Hell they're proving barely worthwhile...
