Israel's election is tomorrow. My summary from recent polling and what to look for tomorrow TL;dr, Eisenkot opposition coalition 56 Netanyahu govt coalition 50 Arab parties = 14 (seem necessary for Eisenkot). And the 3.5% threshold is a big deal again. shugerblogcom.wordpress.com/2026/10/26/i...

Important reporting and it is wild that the relevant disclosure is “years later on tax returns” rather than “during the election.” A Democratic Congress could pass a law to fix that part.

You really need to work hard to be the most obsequious member of Trump’s cabinet — by, for instance, eating lunch at Cheesecake Factory and alerting Fox Business, so they can interview you in defense of Obama’s joke about the White House decor. Well done Secretary Bessent! Your move, Doug Burgum!

“We’re self-confident men,” says the guy who on Oct. 13 told a fan “I love you too sir. In a totally platonic way, to be clear. I'm the vice president, not James Talarico.”

Here’s the relevant language in the DOJ lawsuit. It asks for the election not to be certified if Peltola’s margin of victory is smaller than the number of votes cast for the third-party Sullivan. (I expect this to be laughed out of court.) storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

BRENNAN: The DOJ lawsuit demands the Alaska result not be certified if voters are confused. The confusion is defined as Sen. Sullivan not winning. BLANCHE: That's not what it says BRENNAN: I'm quoting from it. You are telling them not to certify it. What right does the federal govt have?

Blanche knows Alaska has ranked choice voting (it's even noted in the lawsuit) and on TV today he claimed that the existence of RCV makes the "investigation" he seeks possible. That is very silly, but he knows he has to do certain things to keep his job.

Alaska has ranked choice voting!!!! This argument is dumb as shit anywhere but it’s insane in Alaska

No one who voted to elect the last Democratic senator from Kansas is alive today.

David Dayen@ddayen.bsky.social

Was on the road yesterday with Democratic Kansas Senate candidate Adam Hamilton, who did 3 stops on a bus tour. Met a lot of Republicans for Hamilton, people fed up with the direction of the country. Hamilton would be the first Democrat elected to the Senate from Kansas since 1932.

In fairness (sorry), the film flatlined the second it expanded from 4 to 472 screens. It's not You Can See Everything; it's four hours, with good but not great reviews, about someone who's already in our faces 24/7. But I do think we should watch for how easy, or not, it becomes to stream or rent.

Has anyone asked Ramaswamy how much he or his campaign paid this elderly, destitute woman to appear in his ad? bsky.app/profile/bgru...

Bill Grueskin@bgrueskin.bsky.social

Donna Arthur — aka Amy Acton’s estranged mother, and the person whose testimony Vivek Ramaswamy devoutly trusts — has been living with her cats, in a car, in a church parking lot, having declined housing assistance. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/24/u...

Trump just claimed responsibility for stupid DOJ lawsuit against Alaska. Which may or may not be true!

WH Press Pool Reports@whpresspool.bsky.social

POTUS took a few questions. “I’m the one that said do it,” POTUS said when asked about the DoJ case in Alaska. He said the other Dan Sullivan “has nothing to do with politics” and called it “disgraceful.” (2/3)

Over on the bad site, a defense of the ad featuring Amy Acton's mother is that Acton's story doesn't make sense because someone can't just escape justice by leaving the state for such a serious crime. That's simply not true. Over a decade ago @bradheath.bsky.social did a great piece on this:

usatoday.comThe ones that get awayAcross the U.S., more than 180,000 fugitives can escape justice just by crossing state lines, a USA TODAY investigation finds.

Furthermore—Alaska has ranked-choice voting! Anyone confused about the Sullivans can rank them 1-2, and the order doesn't matter, because the minor Sullivan will be eliminated before the final tabulation!

Adam Bonin@adambonin.bsky.social

The time to determine whether Dan J. Sullivan Jr. could appear on the Alaska ballot for U.S. Senate was months ago, and Alaska courts did so. What's additionally batshit about this is that the candidates' names are printed on the ballot in a way which makes abundantly clear who's who.

Great piece on a reporter who tells the truth about Ukraine to an audience in thrall to a leader who spouts endless lies on the subject.

Yes, brilliant move sir! Take the single most repulsive Republican campaign ad of my entire life and make it national issue for the whole party! Genius!

Q: Ashley Hinson, who you're campaigning for tonight, says the Ramaswamy ad is 'absolutely terrible' and should be taken down. Why are you defending it? TRUMP: I'm defending it because I know that if that ad was about my mother, you would love every inch of it
