@viticci.macstories.net Hey Federico, not sure if this post will reach you, but let me share something similar to your Mac Mini usage. 1. I have a Shortcut that records audio and saves the file in my Dropbox. 2. Then Dropbox on my Mac Mini syncs. 3. I've set up a script to monitor the folder.

4. When a new file is added, it runs another script to process the file. I love this workflow because a. it's not exposing a URL to my mac mini on the internet b. my mac doesn't have to be online all the time Regarding (b), of course, Mac Mini is online all the time, but what about my MacBook?

I've set up a similar Shortcut that saves a file at Dropbox/MacBook/open-url-xxxx.txt Inside the file, there is a URL. And the script opens the url in the browser. It means from my iPhone I can send a command to my MacBook to open a URL whenever the MacBook is open and syncs with Dropbox.

Random thought: We use online signature services like docusign. What if we make it more approachable among individuals? For example, I want to lend $100 to a friend of mine. I open an app and write a simple prompt, and it generates a contract. I send it to them, and the friend gets help by AI like

@frankdilo.com since when do we have 15 posts / mo limit on free plan? πŸ₯² I'm probably baised since I'm on free plan at the moment, but I feel like this limitation will prevent people from building a natural habit to post on Typefully.

What is a go-to state management library in React these days? I've heard of recoil, zustand, jotai, etc. What do you think is a generally good default one?

What brings me joy on social media is mostly comments, not likes or reposts. On Twitter, you can disable comments on your post. Reverse this idea. What if you could disable likes or reposts, and only allow comments for certain posts? It could be fun :)

I think the functionality to have an alt post timestamp is pretty cool especially when you import a bunch of old posts from elsewhere. However, I think it'd be nice to show a real timestamp as a tooltip in case they're different. What do you think?

Typefully now supports Bluesky πŸ¦‹ Yes, this post was written and published from Typefully! Yes, we support videos too. Yes, you can do it too! As a matter of fact, with Typefully, you can now master 5 different platforms: X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon. Let's go! πŸ”₯

While Cursor and VSCode are completely failing with the TS language server on a big project I'm on, Zed seems to be working really well.

While I trust Bluesky for not doing so, I still have a concern. Due to the decentralized nature of the protocol, isn't any server subscribing to the stream better able to utilize all the data on the network to train AI models and do such stuff, comparably easier than scraping tweets on Twitter?

Bluesky@bsky.app

A number of artists and creators have made their home on Bluesky, and we hear their concerns with other platforms training on their data. We do not use any of your content to train generative AI, and have no intention of doing so.

I've tried Zen Browser for 5 days as a replacement of Arc, and decided to give up for now. What I liked about Arc is: - Sidebar - Folder support in Sidebar - Multi profile support within a single window After testing several browsers, I picked Zen and I spent 5 days. Here's the screenshot.

I don't use that profile that much. Or I could just stick to Safari and open a new window for it. Anyway, I'll probably come back to Zen in about half year or so, because I liked its flexibility but it seemed a bit immature to me. For now, I'm trying Safari.

When you move into a new house, you need to take closer look at lots of things and see if there's anything to be fixed asap. Even if not urgent, you need to write it down as future tasks. A good inspection is necessary to settle down in the new house.

I've seen folks worried about meta posts. We should embrace them at this point. There are droves of new users joining. These posts help with community cohesion. And in setting the tone for what's coming. I see a healthy meta ratio right now. If you have concerns, join us on Jamie's post threads.

Reading this email from @stackblitz.com. They have been making a huge impact on the JS ecosystem, and as a free user of StackBlitz, I was a bit worried about their sustainability. I believe they were able to build bolt because they built a firm foundation (StackBlitz). Happy to see their success πŸŽ‰

Bluesky is built to make social more like the Web again, so we will never suppress links. Link to your writing, your art, your personal site β€” this is the social internet, designed from the ground up to be open and interoperable.

Hard to describe as a journalist how grateful I am to have a text-based app that does not suppress hyperlinks. I don’t know if people realize exactly how hostile the corporate internet has gotten toward news.

I just realized that you can't remove yourself from a starter pack. When I shout out like "follow these awesome people!!!", sometimes I don't want myself there πŸ˜…

Actually it took me quite a while to just get to what I have now, and it was quite exhausting enough. I tried to fix the issue but it didn't work.

So my next step is to give Safari a try. It has Sidebar and the folder support in Sidebar as well. The memory usage should be quite optimized. But it has to open a new window for different profile which is a big downside for me..... so I'll just use a different browser for the secondary profile.

It looks quite similar to Arc, right? But I've found some problems. 1. No folder support in Sidebar -> on their roadmap, though 2. Today I saw it consume 4-5GB of memory! I had 10 tabs open, and only 3-4 plugins installed. After relaunching Zen, it became alright for a while.

3. The most annoying thing was.. I configured the gradient color of the Sidebar, and it bled into webpages's background for some websites (I assume those without explicit bg color) And I cannot debug this because there are 4 different places that are related to colors πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
