A reminder that Ireland invented the festival of Halloween.

National Museum of Ireland@nmireland.bsky.social

Long before pumpkins became the Halloween tradition, people in Ireland carved turnips into spooky faces to ward off wandering spirits. This wonderful Ghost Turnip is on display at the National Museum of Ireland, Turlough Park, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, and it's guaranteed to stop you in your tracks!

The Scotland Office is the British state scent-marking what it regards as its territory. It is a symbolic imperialist presence. A daily reminder of Scotland's subordinate status in a grotesquely asymmetric political union. www.thenational.scot/politics/266... #EndTheUnion #ScottishUDI

George Monbiot absolutely nails it, as he perfectly describes how ‘extractive’, London centric, unionism has drained Cymru for generations If only Cymru was fully governed by those who prioritised the interests of Cymru,to become just another modern, small & successful, European country 🇫🇮🇮🇪🇪🇪🇩🇰🇸🇪🇫🇴🇮🇸🇪🇪

On Question Time last night, I talked about the extractive economic model that has left Wales - and many other nations - impoverished *because they were so rich in resources*. You can see the problem simply by looking at the map: the infrastructure looks like a drainage system.

Modern Scotland does not share the Imperialist values still fostered by Westminster. Scotland will never be able to represent its true values until it is a free and independent country. Scotland needs freedom. SUPPORT IT NOW!
