TimeCal is updated! Message me if you'd like to try it out.

v1.0.0 is out, bringing TimeCal out of beta and into what has been a nice stable version for some time. A lot of polish has gone into the v1.0.0 release, from scrolling to animations on hover to macOS 27 style updates galore. For a limited time, TimeCal is 30% off to support the launch!

My go-to question for a mic check is “What did you have for breakfast?” But most people just say coffee and it’s boring. I just heard a new one. “What emoji are you today?” 🫠

The sneaky best part of this update is being able to hit the spacebar to cycle between day, week, month, and year views. You can also hit Cmd+K and type "June 26" and immediately be flown to that day. Or type "December" and be taken there. It's FAST.

Huge 0.4.0 release for TimeCal! Search across 20 years of your events, right click everything, pin events to your desktop, language localization for Spanish and Portuguese, and tooling that enables your favorite LLM to make your calendar's rules. And a bunch more tweaks and performance improvements.

There’s an “Unsubscribe” page on Gmail for batch unsubscribing. This one was a doozy. Each of these crossed-out circles starts as a filled-in heart. You click it once and it becomes an outline of a heart. What, is that low health? You click it a second time and it becomes the circle.

Building search for a timeline calendar is kinda hard because where do you define “closest,” especially if search looks across a +/- 10-year span? Is it the past? The future? What’s in view? I feel like I’m peeling an onion endlessly.

My prediction is that a year from now, you'll be able to ask an AI to "tell me about this person" and it'll respond with a generated portfolio website for that person. Where's the self expression in that? And if that person is just using AI to make their portfolio, what's the difference?

Having fun building this. I've been using TimeCal a lot for seeing events on shared events calendars (like those ones on Luma) to see what's happening across Seattle more easily. Viewing stacks of these calendars at once works well. @timecal.bsky.social

Beta is live, and this time I've got a much smoother edit experience in TimeCal. Optimistic loading means a dragged or edited event instantly appears where it needs to go. You can now show your events' notes on the timeline. And you can now utilize Apple Calendar's full iCal subscription flow.

After some Googling, it seems I can fully replace Lightroom with RapidRAW and Miro with Excalidraw. Open Pencil as a replacement for Figma is a little early. It doesn't have full support of .fig files. Slack is easily replaced with Mattermost, Zulip, and others. But people like their Slack, so.

Bunch of updates rolling out. Ability to shade non-working hours, show the current time on hover of the now line, and create calendars On My Mac (rather than just on a connected account), plus some bug fixes and performance tweaks.

Guess what’s live! TimeCal is now in private beta and available for testing. What is it? It’s a macOS native calendar app that gives you the missing calendar view: timelines. View all your events and calendars from an extremely optimized high level view (up to 200 calendars at once). Trytimecal.com

New changes are live for v0.1.8 of TimeCal! Badges on your events are now clickable based on rules that you set. Invitee lists have been polished up. You can now use emojis as badges on event blocks. trytimecal.com/changelog/

I have always wanted to make a calendar app. The ideas have been in my notes for years, and now thanks to AI, I have been able to put it all together into a real app. I'll be releasing it soon. Here's a sneak peek of the event badge rules in settings:

A Card Page (acard.page) is live and was never shut down. No one was ever charged for anything, so there's nothing to refund. Accounts, cards, and contacts all carried over; you can export or fully delete yours from Settings anytime. Questions: acard@sandpipermediagroup.com

Emails only appear on a card if the user adds one. Card URLs are random and can be regenerated anytime. It’s up to the user to design with whom they’d like to share their links.

Wowee there are some oddballs in this world. I didn’t think I would get harassed in this way. If anyone has issues with the app I’m building, just DM me and we can talk about it. I’m very open to chatting about what I’m working on.

Hear me out: eat pizza upside down. Why? All the flavor is on the top. Why dull all that with a bland and often soggy crust? Flip it! It’s a different world. 🍕

My cat hops on the table while I’m eating breakfast and attempts to bury my coffee by “digging” whatever’s on the table onto the mug. Maybe Larry here just doesn’t like the smell of truffles? ☕️

THREAD. Packing up in spring for my house move, I found this: it was my mum's first attempt at capturing my cat The Bear (RIP) via a quick chalk sketch. 2013, perhaps? So simple, but so great, and it proved to be the catalyst for what has been a huge amount of creativity in her retirement...

That is a really cool fun fact about asymmetry. Always thought owls were... symmetrical. bioengineering.hyperbook.mcgill.ca/information-...

Fact: Owl ears aren't symmetrical, in that one is positioned higher on the skull than the other. The difference in the time it takes to hear a sound from L to R helps them to calculate the location of prey. Their eyes are also fixed in place, so looking around means constant head movement.

I feel seen: “What? Another article about centering?! But all we have to do is use display: flex | grid, then align-items: center. No, it’s align-content… wait… I think it’s justify-content. Well, let’s use margin: auto, this one works all the time, right?”

Time to rabbit hole on gap decorations. No support yet on iOS Safari or mobile chrome it seems.
