People hate on how Indiana puts chicken and noodles on top of mashed potatoes, but I have to tell you, it is PEAK sore throat food

It remains wild to me that even in 2026 our two best remedies for a sore throat and cough are “make some water real salty and kinda swish it around for a minute” and “steal some food from bees and put it in some warm water with lemons”

Making my first (and, seeing that we just voted to sell it, probably also last) visit to THE Episcopal Church Center.

Back in NYC this week for the first time in 7 years, and I am happy to see that she is as delightful as ever.

Direct flights to Montreal from Indy??? I can't wait for the sugar cream pie / tart au sucre cultural exchange to begin

Pineapple is one fruit that I feel like really shines even when you don't get a perfect specimen. Like, if you get an apple or an orange that's kind of mid, they're not that good. But somehow even a mid pineapple manages to be delicious.

I fear Canada has forgotten its greatest bargaining chip in the trade war with the US: Heated Rivalry season 2

If Mark Carney was brave enough to withhold it, I know not a single member of Congress would know a moment of peace until the tariffs were lifted

I tried to come up with a witty remark to put with my 9 albums, but I failed. This is who I am and I can be no other.

I insist that someone give the Bake Off baker who went home this week their own show, because I would watch them do ANYTHING.

Making the bakers bake a chocolate Guinness cake FOR NIGELLA is diabolical behavior on the part of the Bake Off producers.

I'm helping to lead my parish's first Bible study in some years using the @forwardmovement.org "Exploring the Bible" series, and it has been such a delight getting to meet with my fellow parishioners and talk about the Bible in an environment that is open to inquiry and exploration.

We started in Genesis, and have worked through the ancient stories of creation, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, the flood, the Tower of Babel, and the lives of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar.

There is much in these texts that is difficult to understand! But it has been wonderful to sit with the people of my parish and hear the diversity of perspectives that people bring to the text, even the hard parts like the story of Hagar and the binding of Isaac. There is so much grace and openness.

As we enter autumn, let this serve as your seasonal reminder that in addition to their usual cheeseburger and custard fare, Culver’s also serves a pretty good pot roast and mashed potatoes which performs adequately if you are a single person who cannot justify making an entire pot roast for oneself

It requires a tiny bit of technical know-how, but anyone who knows what a command line is should be able to get it up and running in a few minutes. Once it’s going, it runs on its own churning out PDFs. It preserves booklet formatting, so stored bulletins and the like will print correctly.

I understand Microsoft wanting to EOL the software, but not providing an ongoing conversion tool is bonkers to me. I genuinely converted almost 1,500 Publisher documents today at my church—files that would have disappeared into the ether in two weeks otherwise!

A fun part of being part of a church finance committee is that our accounting software still has accounts set up for “pagers” and “yellow pages advertising”

I’m watching a 2011 Apple keynote (don’t judge me), and it seems so quaint the things we were amazed by when the iPad 2 came out. They spent SO much time talking about multi-touch on the display.

“I stopped going to the gym because the gym got condemned for structural issues” sounds like either an excuse or a metaphor, but is, in fact, my actual life this week

Do we think it’s a good or a bad sign when they have to check multiple boxes to indicate what’s wrong? That’s probably good, right?

The fact that Tom Cruise and Alan Ritchson have both played Jack Reacher… they truly could not have cast two more different people.

I understand from a caloric perspective why a serving of ravioli is four, but from an even deeper, spiritual level, I do not.

The 2009 television hit Glee should not be allowed to return to the airwaves for any reason, BUT, I do think we should have an annual Purge-like televised special where people do Glee-style covers of songs so society has a release valve for its “I’d love to hear the Glee version of this song” energy

Do you know how much transit you could build for 60 BILLION DOLLARS? You could build the entire Second Avenue Subway TWICE. You could double Amtrak’s budget FOR FIFTEEN YEARS. You could build Honolulu’s train system end to end FIVE TIMES. You could buy ALL 20,000 US municipalities four new buses.

More than 10 million Americans take out a used car loan every year, with an average rate of an insane 11.4%. We lower those rates by 4 points with our FHA for Car Loans proposal, saving the typical borrower $6,000 over the life of their loan.

The hotel I’m staying at may have the last great breakfast buffet on earth. Yogurt parfait bar with preserves and coconut granola. The crispiest bacon on earth. Crispy hash browns. Sweet potato pepper hash. Actually good drip coffee. Delightful.

One thing that I remain astounded by in California is how normal it is for there to be pieces of public roadway that are de-facto privatized by the In-n-Out drive thru line.

As a past proud owner of a Prius C and two Honda Fits, I commend to you the Kia Niro EV/EV3 as an electric alternative. While not a hatchback in the truest sense, it is the closest thing I've found that scratches the itch for "zippy little city car that you can somehow fit an IKEA couch in."

The pivot from everyone eating low sodium everything in the 90s to people chugging electrolyte powders in the 2020s is wild to have lived through.

The slept-on hit of the Rachel Reid gay hockey cinematic universe is Time to Shine, in which there is an entire chapter where a tall, intelligent sad boi goalie goes to Costco with his himbo nepo baby teammate

This is the greatest feature any software developer has ever shipped.

I appreciate that it embraces the diversity of ways people can experience God, and the participation and action of all of God's people in worship, while staying respectful of the liturgy and order of the Church.

I got an Instagram ad for a Temu kneeler, which is both the most Episcopalian thing that could happen and maybe also actual sacrilege

I fundamentally do not respect Antonin Scalia, but I do borrow his use of the word "argle-bargle" at least a few times a month.
