Defecting is a choice. When you are given a rifle and told to go murder Ukrainian civilians, you actually can choose which way to shoot.

I worry that the increasing absurdity of these incidents will distract from the serious problems behind them. But man, do these sentences start sounding like Futuristic Mad Libs at a certain point. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/09/t...

Elon Musk, whose political operation has spent $31 million on the 2026 US midterms, is openly backing Trump’s demand to replace Zelenskyy. The demand echoes the Kremlin’s longstanding pressure for wartime elections in Ukraine, which are prohibited by the constitution under martial law.

Ukraine is building a Starlink alternative with a European partner to secure independent communications, while Musk’s restrictions and outages have exposed the risks of relying on SpaceX. Russia is developing a rival network with reported Chinese help.

US Gov with the H1-B foot-gun. I know so many brilliant immigrants in the US that came through on a permit like that. Amazing opportunity for Canada to return to the excellent points system model and offer the north american dream without all the violence.

“Premier League regulations also leave the door open to expulsion from the division, as well as retrospective action, meaning City could be stripped of their league titles won during the period in question.”

Why is Trump hardening the area around his Arch de Trumphe vs ground assault and human adversaries? That’s hardening seems like a really weird thing for an democratically elected person with term limits.

A common response is "if they know this, why keep drilling?" At BP, many have not internalized the stakes personally. At ExxonMobil, the stakes are well understood, but they're locked in a race for market share, believing if they don't extract it, a competitor will.

Zelenskyy is in Canada. True hero, leading the fight for European freedom against Russian aggression. Wanna start something Russia? Now’s your chance to get that NATO trouble you desperately want. FAFO.

Ex-CIA Marc Polymeropoulos: Russia is a terrorist state. What do you do against a terrorist state? You do what Jim Mattis did in Deir ez-Zor, Syria, when Russian Wagners tried to attack Special Operations forces. U.S. Army Delta Force killed 300 Wagners in like 6 seconds.

🤣 fuck you, Donnie “WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Thursday he is renaming Lake Ontario to be known as “Lake America” in the United States as he exacerbates his trade war with Canada.”

I hate to have to point this out: you GenX that still have parents around and Millenials and Zoomers that have grandparents around… “The average age of death, also called life expectancy at birth, is 79.0 years in the United States according to data from the CDC”, add another year for Canadians.

Good for Carney and Canada, standing up for themselves. The US trade war demand is essentially “let us bully you into subservience.” Appeasement doesn’t work. What a stupid, self-harming effort by the US. Took one of the most productive, mutually beneficial alliances in history and threw it away.

Watching Prime Minister Carney discussing the breakdown of the Canada-US trade deal at a press conference and just really appreciating living in a country where the leader can speak coherently and knowledgeably about what is actually happening.

Ukrainian cyber specialists hacked the air-defence systems at Russia’s BARS Moscow training ground, where Russians were training to counter Ukrainian UAVs. The hackers gained access to combat-operation algorithms and tricked the Russians into shooting down the Su-57 by making it look like a drone.
