@civvie11.bsky.social, you once said of Nightmare Reaper, "I was so worried that I wouldn't find something hilariously broken and absurd." AND THEN THE DEVS SPENT A FEW YEARS MAKING IT BETTER AND CO-OP LAUNCHES TOMORROW FOR FREE :) (I think our team's been in touch, but woo!)

Working on sales decks. Some portfolio highlights: Amnesia, Cyberpunk, Dave the Diver, Enshrouded, Frostpunk, House Flipper, INDIKA, Legend of Heroes, Moonlighter, Mount & Blade II, Risk of Rain 2, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Witcher, Witchfire.. And cooking up more big stuff! 😇

What kinda stuff you want to see on our TikTok channel (or Insta, whatever)? We're toying with a bunch of different content right now. You want more pro tips/advice about the sorts of work we do? Wanna discover more games we're working on? More discussion of the landscape? LMK!

Avast me hearties! ☠️ Are ye a content creator plann' to play Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii next week? 🏖️ Well we be workin' on a small paid activation for another piratey adventure 🏴‍☠️ to celebrate that launch, and we'd love to have ya on board! Reply ⬇️ for opportunities! #indiegame #pirate

If you struggle with anxiety or feeling overwhelmed, the best exercise I can recommend is to focus on your breath. Let your breathing continue naturally, and count the inhales and exhales. Anytime you lose count, non-judgmentally notice, and start again. It's free and available to you any time.

It's pretty amazing how much that simple action can calm your mind. Feels like my thoughts have been racing non-stop all morning, and just like that, a moment of peace. It doesn't solve everything and requires diligent attention, but it works. Bonus: It helps train your brain to slow down.

I’ve been lucky enough to chat with Kate and see first hand how incredible she is as a human being and witness her unstoppable work ethic. Anything Kate touches is phenomenal. If you have a job opening, Kate should be on your radar!

If anyone has any consulting opportunities, mock interviews opps, job openings, please send them my way. I am in desperate need.

Reminder that a game can still be challenging, rewarding, AND accessible. Accessibility never has and never will compromise gameplay, so long as you do it right. Making a game accessible AND fun is the difference between any designer vs. a great designer.

Submitting this panel to PAX East and could still use a 1-2 more panelists! Do your parents not understand what you do? Are you rarely credited on games? Did you not realise your job was something you could do in the games industry before you had it? I want YOU on my panel!

Cass 💀@cassmoney.bsky.social

I have decided that I am committing to actually submitting the "Games Industry Jobs You Didn't Know Existed" panel that I've talked about for years and then always chickened out on. And now I'm telling you all to hold myself accountable 😅

Gonna post on the Evolve account tomorrow morning, but... we're hiring! Looking for a full-time video editor in Canada (yes, gotta be here) to join our amaaazing Originals team. Make trailers, capture gameplay, make TikTok stuff for wicked games. Good people, I think :) www.evolve-pr.com/jobs/

Since I started Evolve back in 2006 (wtf?!) our goal has been to help devs of any size shine a light on their projects. The promotion of games has changed so much in recent years, and this year represents a big shift in how we work; but that core mission remains the same. 1/

We're trying to expand our services outside "marketing" even further. And perhaps the element that touches everything is relevance. It's not just about being noisy, but giving the right people access to info and games that is relevant to THEM. 8/

Just remember: there's no one _right_ path to success in games. Anyone who speaks with certainty is probably fooling themselves. The only thing that's truly certain is that things change. That may seem scary. But it's also a great opportunity.

So what's the shift for us? We're investing heavily in gathering and analyzing data through our Insights team to be more effective with our time: what works and what doesn't? We're spending more time assessing niche communities to deal with increased fragmentation. 6/

We're putting a greater focus on short-form video content and engagement through video platforms. We're trying to build deeper understanding of the breadth of coverage media outlets produce. We're working on better understanding what players in different genres want to see. 7/

That's truer than ever. IMO, a big part of the marketer's job today is to mitigate the risk that players don't see your game. They have to see it to get interested. They have to get interested to want it. They have to want it to buy it. They have to buy to keep you alive. 4/

As a dev/marketer you have to look at all potential options for exposure available. Media coverage matters. Creator coverage matters. Great trailers that showcase your game well matter. Understanding your audience matters. 5/

We were one of the first agencies to thoroughly support content creators (back when it was just "YouTubers"), and since then we've also created other teams to help us offer holistic support: social and community, video production, research and reports, and tech development. 2/

The thinking is that you can't just rely on one area of promotion to get the word out. Not when it's this noisy. I tell clients all the time, "I don't give a shit WHO does it, as long as somebody's doing it." You need PR. You need community. You need great assets. etc. 3/

It's hard to know what to say or whether it's even worth adding to the doom - what I will say is buy your trans friends' weird zine, their album, their art game - buy them a beer or a soda or a meal - give them some ko-fi money for doing absolutely nothing. We gotta protect trans kids and adults.

Has anyone else in #indiedev had their game plagiarised? We've been facing a tricky situation where another dev has straight-up copied our most popular game and undercut the price. Unfortunately, it seems many players now assume their game is ours. Would love to hear your advice! 🙏
