One week on from @nextflow.io Training & @nf-co.re Hackathon at #NextflowSummit Barcelona. 🌍 What stood out: the real-world impact this community creates together. πŸ™ Thanks to participants, trainers, project leads, mentors, Ambassadors & the nf-core core team. See you next time!

It's been a little while, but the #Nextflow #Podcast is back! Check out episode 58 to hear all about writing and publishing #plugins. We covered plugins way back in ep 38, but so much has changed since then that we felt like the topic deserved a re-run!

Nextflow@nextflow.io

πŸŽ™οΈ New Nextflow Podcast Episode: Writing Nextflow Plugins in 2026! This one is all about Nextflow Plugins. @ewels.bsky.social is joined by Jon Manning, Rike Hanssen, and Ben Sherman to discuss the world of extending core Nextflow functionality. πŸ‘€ Watch now: seqera.io/podcasts/epi...

Last chance to register for the #NextflowSummit in-person training and @nf-co.re #hackathon! We've had a bunch of new projects come in for the hackathon the past few days, I'm getting really excited for it. Can't wait to see some faces old and new, and see what we can build together πŸš€

Last few days to register for the @nf-co.re hackathon in Barcelona (part of the #NextflowSummit). Don't leave it too late - just think of the FOMO you'll feel if you miss registration! πŸ˜† πŸ“† Deadline is September 24th! Come join us for a few days of building and learning together!

Nextflow@nextflow.io

Developing Nextflow? Join us in Barcelona, Oct 15-16! This is a non-competitive hackathon where developers come together to build, improve, and share Nextflow pipelines with the @nf-co.re community. All skill levels welcome: hubs.la/Q04xwdj90

If you've not been before, then now's your chance to experience it and see what the fuss is all about. Hackathons are the beating heart of @nf-co.re, attracting everyone from relative beginners right through to those of us who have been around, ahem, a while.. πŸ‘€ They're great fun!

For the Boston #NextflowSummit earlier this year there was a game of Pong that came up if you left the mouse still. For Barcelona / Virtual we have swapped that out for something different πŸ‘€ I take no responsibility for any lost time in your work day. Let's see your creations! ⛏️ waka waka πŸ˜† 🧡 (2/2)

We're delighted to have contributed case studies to OpenAI's report on scientific computing in the age of agentic AI. πŸ“ƒ hubs.la/Q04r75Zm0 Alongside Felix Krueger (Altos), we contributed agent-assisted rewrites of RNA-seq QC tools (RustQC, FastQC-Rust & more), built for @nextflow.io and @nf-co.re.

hubs.laScientific computing in the age of agentic AIA new field report shows how scientists use AI coding agents to modernize scientific computing, accelerating software development and discovery in genomics and beyond.

It was fun being invited to contribute a case study to this #OpenAI preprint + blog 😊 I think it ended up a really nice overview, an interesting cross-section of how people are approaching similar problems with #ai #agent -assisted #bioinformatics software projects...πŸ’‘ openai.com/index/scient...

🎀 The #NextflowSummit returns on Oct 13-14, and we're looking for speakers to share their experience using Nextflow for scalable, reproducible analysis.🌎 Submit your talk abstract by July 24 to share your work with global community. πŸ”— hubs.la/Q04pMYJ80

I'm very happy to say that we now have new tools for viewing @nextflow.io log files for both the #CLI and the #VSCode extension! Try it out with the latest Nextflow edge release (26.05.0-edge) after a run: $ nextflow logfile Or open any log file in VSCode with the Nextflow extension installed ✨🌈

Nextflow@nextflow.io

Nextflow log files are great for debugging, but digging through 1000s of debug lines to find an error can be difficult Introducing new log viewers in the CLI and VS Code extension, with syntax highlighting and log-level filtering to drill down to a few lines of warnings and errors hubs.la/Q04m8s110

There are several use cases for this, but the example shows a common one: a recent MultiQC release had a Bioconda bug fix under the same version number, so the normal request returned the older cached image. Editing the YAML lets you pin the exact build you want, generating a fresh image.. ✨

Registration is now open for the October #NextflowSummit! Both online virtual attendance (free) and in-person hackathon / training, in Barcelona πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ Come and join to see what the fuss is about, get new skills, meet old friends and hear the latest and greatest in scientific developments! ✨ πŸŽ‰

It's amazing to see how much Nextflow has grown! When I joined Seqera in 2022, there were multiple places around the world who barely had anyone who had ever run Nextflow. It's a totally different scenario in 2026, and it's so nice to have been on board during this trip! 🀩

Nextflow@nextflow.io

When Nextflow was first released, the goal was simple: make scientific workflows reproducible and scalable for everyone. πŸ“ˆ Nextflow is the gold standard for bioinformatics, bringing control and traceability to the volume and velocity of science.

Replying to @seqera.io

Producing the rewrite is only the start of the story though. @ewels.bsky.social joined @robert.bio on the OMGenomics podcast to talk about rewriting bioinformatics tools in Rust and what AI-assisted development looks like in practice. 🎧 Give it a listen: hubs.ly/Q04gY5Kq0

It was great fun talking to @robert.bio and his edit is great (I love some of the overlays, especially the one about @robp.bsky.social being an authority πŸ˜‚)

I've seen lots of AI rewrites in bioinformatics lately, and I’m concerned because LLMs can be confidently wrong. What do the best tool builders do to make sure their rewrites are correct? How can we tell if a rewrite is flawed? I interviewed 5 scientists to find out: youtu.be/0o2XnEBDxrI

I'm both excited and a little terrified. It feels like a wave of AI-assisted tool rewrites is coming to bioinformatics whether we like it or not. We figured that the best we can do is to try to get ahead of it, so we wrote down some principles for doing it responsibly: rewrites.bio

AI coding assistants just passed a threshold: domain experts can now rewrite established scientific software in days. This wave of rewrites is coming for #bioinformatics. The question isn't whether to embrace this capability, but how to do it responsibly.🧡 hubs.la/Q04b85ww0
