"The Cold War and UFOs," an EFR presentation for @anomalyarchives.bsky.social, is now publicly available. Intelligence agencies, informants, deception, congressional lobbyists & more. Learn what the UFO genre of yesteryear can tell us about today. www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_R6...
Recent happenings at EFR include a blogpost summarizing some of our FOIA work on such topics as the Octopus Murders, Leon Festinger & associates, Ramtha's School of Enlightenment, & Burning Man. www.expandingfrontiersresearch.org/post/in-step...
The blogpost 'A Tale of Two FOIAs' explains how the same 1963 FBI memo was processed substantially differently in separate requests - and even after appeal! The subject matter involved espionage investigation & UFO researchers. www.expandingfrontiersresearch.org/post/a-tale-...
Creatives Adam Gorightly & Christopher Graybill join Erica Lukes & Jack Brewer for a fascinating discussion on topics ranging from 20th century UFO researchers to hoaxes & conspiracies. Thanks to @imx1.bsky.social for sharing this. I followed the comments which are interesting, which lead to the original post which has lots of REALLY interesting details, including the 45 hours of editing that went into the 2-hour stack: www.instagram.com/p/Dei4FQ0HSt-/
Brendan Larsen from Ngāmotu in Aotearoa and a member of the New Plymouth Astronomical Society took this stack over a couple of hours and estimates 14000 satellite trails. This is how bad it is now, it's set to get much much much worse - and then we lose Low […]

Creatives Adam Gorightly and Christopher Graybill talk Saucers, Spooks and Kooks, offering the popular film on Blu-ray, Adam's brand new book on the mysterious Fred Crisman, & loads more. Check it out: www.patreon.com/ExpandingFro...
Every time we speak with Gorightly & Graybill it seems more interesting than the last! We discuss their campaign to offer SS&K on Blu-ray, Adam's new book on Fred Crisman, UFO history involving Moore, Shandera & Friedman, & even a potential new FOIA collaboration. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG9d...
Christopher Graybill, director of SAUCERS, SPOOKS AND KOOKS, recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to create a blu-ray release of the film with some important extras added... and there are only 18 days left! I highly recommend supporting this campaign: www.kickstarter.com/projects/259...
A Tale of Two FOIAs | Expanding Frontiers Research
A DOJ ruling on an FBI FOIA appeal might bring Nietzsche to mind: "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster."

Great stuff. It will forever fascinate me that various genres consist of people passionately embracing beliefs that frequently seem unable or unwilling to integrate their knowledge of disinformation with the likelihood what they've learned about is happening right here, right now in their genre.
How about a Qanon featurette, with Robert Guffey talking about his excellent book Operation Mindfuck?

Differences in how the memo was processed are striking, but it’s particularly interesting the appeal was affirmed. The page below was fully withheld in one request while fully released in the other, & arguably reflects poorly on FBI tactics. www.expandingfrontiersresearch.org/post/a-tale-...
An FBI FOIA request on Daniel Fry included a heavily redacted 1963 memo. After we appealed, we received the same memo in near entirety in a file on Lois Jessop. The kick is the recently received appeal response upheld processing of the Fry request. www.expandingfrontiersresearch.org/post/a-tale-...
Suspect arrested after one of the most serious breaches of FBI data in years. Identities of FBI personnel working in sensitive units on China and Russia were reportedly exposed, among potentially many more. FBI suggests failing to regularly install software updates enabled the hack.
FBI eFOIPA page has been failing to email links when requested for submitting a FOIA request for a couple hours now. No link received. We've seen glitches in the past but this is becoming rather lengthy.
The process requires submitting an email address to receive a link to submit a FOIA request.
The FBI eFOIPA portal seems to be restored, which is to say I received emailed links throughout the night, hours after I'd try to access the system & the links wouldn't work, but it now seems on track. I just requested access, was emailed immediately, & submitted my request, which was acknowledged.
A 1963 FBI memo was heavily redacted with a page fully withheld in an FBI FOIA response upheld under appeal. The same memo was provided almost in its entirety under a different request to FBI that was referred to NARA. www.expandingfrontiersresearch.org/post/a-tale-...

Meanwhile, EFR hit multiple challenges getting records on Tuli Kupferberg from both FBI & NARA. It's straightened out for now & the ETA on remaining responsive material is a few years, but who wouldn't want hundreds of pages on the subversive force behind CIA Man? www.youtube.com/watch?v=utop...
Access & read about FBI records obtained so far on writer, musician, & Greenwich Village staple Naphtali "Tuli" Kupferberg. EFR acquired 41 of some 600+ potentially responsive pages. A request for more material, as well as an appeal of withheld records, are pending. www.patreon.com/ExpandingFro...
The Office of Information Policy upheld FBI action in its use of FOIA Exemptions in our appeal of records withheld on alleged UFO contactee Daniel Fry. FBI records show Mr. Fry was part of a mid-20th century FBI espionage investigation. The appeal & OIP response: drive.google.com/drive/folder...
Read what we learned about self-described UFO contactee Daniel Fry from an FBI FOIA request. He & a number of his contacts were of interest to FBI as part of an espionage investigation. Such circumstances arguably define 'ufology' more than saucers. www.expandingfrontiersresearch.org/post/fbi-esp...
This post from Feb. summarizes characters referenced in the FBI investigation & shows an interesting bureaucratic glitch; copies of records heavily redacted on Fry were significantly disclosed when obtained in response to saucer sleuth Lois Jessop. www.expandingfrontiersresearch.org/post/the-rob...
Pour some out for the steamers Philip R Clarke & Arthur M Anderson, some of the oldest freighters on the Great Lakes, now in long-term layup in Toledo, neither expected to sail again.
The Anderson was the last ship in contact with the Edmund Fitzgerald. Photos by Lou Gerard & Altafest.
FBI states that it identifies no records subject to the FOIPA that are responsive to late writer Frances Stonor Saunders, a researcher of CIA Cold War activities.
Responsive CIA records include a 2011 letter from Patrick Radden Keefe of The New Yorker about his FOIA request seeking material previously referenced by researchers that include Stonor Saunders. Interestingly, Antonio "Tony" Mendez, of Argo fame, is also referenced. www.cia.gov/readingroom/...
CIA itself acknowledged select points asserted by Frances Stonor Saunders, while arguing the validity behind them, when Thomas M. Troy, Jr., reviewed her work in a 2002 edition of Studies in Intelligence for the CIA Center for the Study of Intelligence. www.cia.gov/resources/cs...
A spokesperson for ShinyHunters, the prolific cyber extortionists who hacked the FBI's job portal last week, tells me they now won't release any more data from that hack. They also sent this somewhat confusing statement that indicates they maybe think they've bitten off more than they can chew.
I'm proud to have The Greys Have Been Framed: Exploitation in the UFO Community make Dave's "America 2.0 Reading List," 120 recommended books to understand how we got here. As I often say, I'm not a UFO investigator & my books aren't about UFOs. They're about the people that rattle on about them.
📙 BOOKS: People ask me what to read to understand how we got here. So we've published the "America 2.0 Reading List." 120 books — the founders on faction, Russia's political technologists, the anti-democratic right, and the strange ideas underneath it all.

EFR has submitted over 500 FOIA requests & appeals since 2022, primarily to the FBI & National Archives (NARA). Over 40 remain open as of this post. Find articles & videos about our findings & how we submit requests - & assist supporters with their requests - at the links in profile.
“[A] working theory by wildlife rescue experts is that they climbed into the undercarriages of vehicles returning from Burning Man through the Tahoe/Reno corridor.”
"[Shinyhunters] disagreed with the FBI’s characterizations in its PSA and said it would publish hacked data in a week if the PSA was not retracted...
"NBC News was not able to verify the extent of their claims."
"A representative of the group claimed to NBC News that they hacked the FBI’s job portal Monday and then gained access to other agency programs, stealing between 2 and 3 terabytes of files." @kevincollier.bsky.social:
Rumors about “rigged elections" are now a fixture of U.S. elections, leading to diminished trust in election results & democracy (broadly). These rumors can sometimes be hard to debunk, esp. in their early stages. Our UW team has identified the 6 common ways that election integrity rumors mislead:
