Built-in AI brings zero marginal cost, no API keys, and permissionless innovation. But how do you debug and monitor quality of client side AI? Julien Bataillé (Rakuten) built a PoC instrumenting the Prompt API with OpenInference spans & direct OTLP export: github.com/rakutenanaly...

Just found a fun project: Arcrawls (arcrawls.com) 👾 It’s a nostalgic browser pet that reacts to your tabs & gains XP. And, yes it has AI ✨😊! By using a local Distilbert & Prompt API, it avoids the downsides of AI for fun projects. Zero cost, Zero keys, Privacy. Code: github.com/fujiDevv/con...

Leaving Tokyo under the watchful eye of Godzilla🦖! Next stop: Berlin for Google I/O Connect✈️ I look forward to connecting with the developer community to talk use cases and pain points. Let's see if the AI APIs we’re working on can help. Come inform our next roadmap! 🌐✨

Third round of Garmin coaching is paying off! 🎉 Managed to beat my previous 5k record (27:40) by 1 minute and 20 seconds, landing at 26:20 😄. As a bonus, my VO₂ max gave me a little nod up to 49. #Garmin #running 🏃‍♂️💨

Google I/O is powering down, but the roadshow begins! 🗺️✨ I’ll be hitting the I/O Connect circuit because shipping APIs means nothing until our work gently collides with real devs solving real-world problems. Thanks for raiding the Chrome sandbox! 🚀 #GoogleIO #WebAI #WebDev

Early birds get the calm before the inference storm 🧘‍♂️ Day 2 of #GoogleIO is live! Swing by the Chrome Sandbox for use-case hunting & all-day Built-in AI + WebMCP demos. 🔥 Today's Picks: 11am: Built-in AI Q&A 1pm: Chrome AI Leadership / WebMCP Q&A 3pm: Agentic Era 4pm: Built-in AI

Just landed for #GoogleIO ! 🛬 Eager to meet folks and talk use cases. Skip servers, quotas, & red tape: Web AI is permissionless, unshackled compute that gets better by the day. Check the 1st wave of AI APIs, and let's discuss what's next: developer.chrome.com/docs/ai/built-in-apis 🧑‍💻✨

"Which one of the throw-away engines?" 💀 #BlinkOn 21 Web History Panel. 1️⃣ Investment vs. Legacy: Modernize the engine while "trawling" for legacy bugs. 2️⃣ "One-Way Door": Watching users switch browsers because a site broke. 3️⃣ Engineering Morale: Wanting to build the future, not maintain legacy.

The "trawling" for quirks was my reality in 2011. Chrome’s retention in Japan was struggling because major local sites were broken. A mix of site compat issues and US-centric engineering that didn't land locally. Instead of pitching "Chrome", I pitched WebKit/iPhone compatibility. It worked!

Curious to hear more about Haptics on the web at #blinkon 21. I hope it goes beyond the generic haptic feedback and covers input devices. Not sure what's popular those days, but I had fun with SensAble PHANToM devices back in 1990s!

"Our role shifts from 'building the UI' to 'managing the truth.'" @bandarra.me 's piece hits on a key AI struggle: high-fidelity polish creates a false sense of "readiness". We need the inspiration, but must carry the reality of what it takes to reach prod. bandarra.me/posts/vibe-t...

Headed to #W3C #TPAC in Kobe! Looking forward to diving into discussions on standardization and opportunities in the AI/ML space for the web. While I might skip the new W3C logo debate 😉, I'm eager to connect with old friends and make new ones passionate about the web.

Videos from the Web AI Summit coming soon! In the meantime, here's the deck for "Beyond the demo: building the WebAI playbook." Let's validate ideas & UX patterns, fill tooling gaps, and write this playbook together. docs.google.com/presentation... #WebAI #BuiltinAI #WebDev #GeminiNano #ChromeAI

Fat-fingered my way from "show, don't tell" to "show, don't yell." I like the new rule better! You can yell about your tech tour de force all you want, but the audience is only asking: what value does it deliver? Any favorite typo that ended in a better rule? #ProductManagemenr #FatFingerFortune

I have attendee codes for the #WebAI Summit in Sunnyvale on Oct 17. The Chrome WebAI team wants to meet you on the hallway track to get critical context for our roadmap. Share your projects & challenges for a code! Can't join in person? The talks will be on YT, but still want to hear your story!

Fantastic work by @sayonari.bsky.social on jimakuChan, a live subtitle/translation app for streamers. The latest version is using the #BuiltInAI Translator API to give users fast, private, and free translation directly in the browser without any setup. Another win for #WebAI !

Battling Tokyo's 40°C+ heat has made sticking to #Garmin Coach tough, but today the effort paid off! My VO2 Max just climbed a notch to 48 (Excellent range) 😊 Worth the sweat 🥵! #RunnersInTech #DevsWhoRun

Week 6 of 21 with Garmin Coach! 🎉 Already seeing solid progress: VO2 max up 2 points, ran multiple 5ks (latest 31:36, which is putting me close to intermediate levels for my age group?), and starting to shed some weight. Loving this running journey! #RunnersInTech #DevsWhoRun #PMsWhoRun ;)

Officially my second 5k! 🎉 Garmin coach is slowly but surely guiding me. This was a 15 min 5:40/km pace block, flanked by 10 min at 6:40/km. Not fast, but I'm trying my best to show up! #RunnersInTech

You are up to date.
