Will consistently has the dumbest and most obtuse people on Bluesky replying to very good and reasonable posts. It's quite a phenomenon, and I don't know how he stands it without blocking them all.

Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

I don’t want to hear people say “eat the rich” so much as I want to hear them say, to the rich, “To the law, your money is of no consequence whatsoever. It will shield you from the law the same way empty air would shield you from a blade: it is irrelevant. No favors, no exceptions.”

Questionable sources aside, one can reasonably conclude that child prostitution was the kompromat that kept Graham in the Trump camp. I guess Grand Old Pedophile party theory remains unbeaten.

Jon Cooper@joncooper-us.bsky.social

🚨BOMBSHELL: A documentary released this morning features three male sex workers who say they were paid to have sex with the late Senator Lindsey Graham, who was long plagued by gay rumors despite his anti-LGBTQ policy stances. One man says he was 17 at the time of his sexual encounter with Graham.

"Normal Ohioans are horrified and sick of the madness" Yeah, well, maybe normal Ohioans should stop voting blindly for slime machine Republicans. It's incredible this paper could write this article without mentioning the words "Republican", "Trump", "Musk", "Ramaswamy", or really anything useful.

Ohio Capital Journal@ohiocapitaljournal.com

Editor Commentary: I don’t really understand this morally and ethically barren hellscape era of American politics we are in, but I do know normal Ohioans pretty well. Normal Ohioans are horrified and sick of the madness. ohiocapitaljournal.com/2026/10/20/t...

Musk is making it way too easy to make a national security argument to take Starlink away from him.

The Kyiv Independent@kyivindependent.com

⚡️ 'Planned operation' — Zelensky confirms Ukraine's Starlink access not fully restored. Zelensky called the restrictions a "planned operation" targeting Ukraine, noting that Starlink speed limits remain in effect in Ukraine but not in EU countries.

Not exactly. Trump makes the final decision, so Musk is technically correct. But what Musk doesn't say is that (1) he thought of the idea in the first place, and (2) the final decision was obviously in their mutual pro-Putin interest. Prosecute them both.

Daniel Lenski@moxfyre.bsky.social

So Elon Musk was lying his ass off when he wrote (2 days ago!) that this was a decision made by President Trump, and out of his hands?

I want to point out that if we hadn't as a society decided to memory hole COVID and pretend it was just another cold, we wouldn't have opened the door to these pro-infection narratives becoming mainstream in our society. But it was necessary for the back-to-normal pretense.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Minnesota Republican state Sen. Bill Lieske: "Back in the day when the measles vaccine didn't exist, measles was a joke! ... yes, there are increases cases. How many of those are actually resulting in deaths? Are they just going home with the sniffles? Back in the day, people had measles parties."

I want to see the press make this a Big Deal, and hound every Republican about this until something is done. Also, prosecutions down the chain of command but clearly that won't happen until later.

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

It increasingly looks like Trump made the decision not to share Russian missile launch data with Ukraine and to pull the plug on their missile defenses, resulting in the needless death of scores of Ukrainian civilians. www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2...

This will be entertaining if/when it happens. Many many Rs have been distancing themselves from him and if there's one thing he notices and dislikes it's that! He's going to try to punish that behavior if it's the last thing he does, and I'm here for it. <popcorn>

Not only will Trump be the greatest environmental president of all time, but he will also be the one who brings bipartisan agreement on making the US immigration system sane and humane.

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

New Marist poll of Texas finds 61% say undocumented immigrants should stay in US if meet certain requirements. Only 35% say they should leave. A majority of noncollege white men (Trump base) says stay. Supports my case (see piece/thread below) that Trump opened way for new pro-immigrant consensus

This is a Glonzo Democrats should ride hard in this election. And probably in the next one as well.

Owen Winter@owenwntr.bsky.social

Voters who live near data centres are swinging hard towards the Democrats, in our polling with YouGov www.economist.com/graphic-deta...

Wild that the Houthis can hit Riyadh like that. Puts things in perspective around the US failure to provide protection, and puts the Middle East in an interesting place regarding aggression, retaliation and mutually assured destruction. These countries have fragile intrastructure.

I will never understand Utah Mormons aligning with Republicans. The Republican party is captured by fundamentalist Evangelicals as their voting base, and Opus Dei freaks in leadership. None of these factions think LDS are even Christian, and would sign an extermination order if they could.

I'm honestly kind of surprised Russia has diesel to export, considering they need it for the war effort. I imagine like with everything Trump-Russia, Trump is lying here and what he's promising won't happen, but something else will be gifted to Putin instead. Maybe an end to other sanctions?

Phillips OBrien@phillipspobrien.bsky.social

Trump’s love for Putin is the only pure thing in his life.

Man, some leftists are really not OK. I can't believe this has to be said, but there are some subtle differences between "Nazis" and "Jews" even if you think the Israeli state is committing Nazi-like actions.

Kind of wild that the US looks to be thermostatically swinging hard against fascism in 2026, while elsewhere Germany, Brazil, France, and Spain are like ... huh, I wish we we had a guy like that Trump guy running our countries...

Best to proceed with caution of course, but I can't say I've seen numbers like this ... ever. Also, this may be informative for those who keep telling us that moving to the center to get Republican votes never works. Not that I love the triangulation, but sometimes it's what you have to do.

Per CNN polls are showing Dem Senate candidates typically are taking at least 9% of GOP Voters but Kansas it’s closer to 16% www.cnn.com/2026/10/06/p...

It is wild that while one could have objectively looked at this stuff (especially early on) and been like "well, it's ugly as hell but sort of the war you'd expect with a guerrilla group on their home turf" Israeli leaders never miss an opportunity to tell us nope, they're actually ethnic cleansing.

Mark Chadbourn@chadbourn.bsky.social

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich: “The thorough cleansing that we are carrying out now in southern Lebanon is unprecedented. “They have nowhere to return to. Look at how it looks. “And by the way, the world isn’t stopping us.”

Inject it into my veins, but cautiously.

VoteHub@votehub.com

RACE RATING CHANGE: Texas Senate Tilt D → Lean D James Talarico currently has an 65% chance of winning. Our model puts his projected margin at 2.4 points, smaller than an average polling error.

If he decides he wants to, Don Jr will dogwalk JD and Little Marco in the 2028 Republican presidential primary on name recognition alone. The Republican base is profoundly stupid. It won't even be close.

Schooley@schooley.bsky.social

This is why I don’t completely dismiss the prospect of people voting for Don Jr.

These guys are so steeped in Russian propaganda, they believe all sorts of things that are... just not true.

UNITED24 Media@united24media.com

Watch Tucker Carlson get a quick economics lesson after claiming Russia’s economy is bigger than Britain’s.

Another good lesson in ... just because someone says what you're really thinking doesn't mean (a) they're a good person, (b) they have your interests at heart, or (c) they should be elected to higher office.

Prem Thakker ツ@premthakker.bsky.social

New: Jasmine Crockett was offering government relations & lobbying services on a campaign-funded website. It was taken down after Zeteo reached out. Experts say they’d never seen something like this before. Rules bar members from lobbying and from using campaign funds for non-campaign purposes.

This talking point is hilarious because objectively the Iran War has *significantly* worsened many aspects of our national security without improving *any*.

Headquarters@headquartersnews.bsky.social

Kansas Republican Roger Marshall: I'm sorry gas prices are going up but your national security is more important than your pocketbook

Ah yes, the biggest problem with passing bills with a house majority, 51 senators, and a Republican president will be Schumer and Jeffries. We totally understand how government works!

It will be a mystery to historians forever that Donald Trump, obsessed with popularity and legacy, with absolute control of his party, chose to be the president for the 27% of the population instead of just doing popular things that people would like. The bar was really low!

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

Possibly! That's why I said "probably not" and not "definitely not." There's always the chance that a lame duck Trump wants to secure his legacy and agrees to some kind of large-scale bipartisan immigration reforms, which has a non-zero chance of happening (still quite low, let's be honest).

I love that we're already in leftist civics cluelesness terrain and we haven't even won the election. Aaron here has the patience of a saint, and we're all going to need that in 2027-2028.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

Of course they can do that. And then President Trump can veto anything they pass that he does not like. Because the funding does not expire until September 2029, anything that is unspent as of January 21, 2029 could be rescinded quickly if a Dem retakes the presidency.

Not to mention a lot of their gotcha was ... "look at the scary black people on this poster".

Bryan Behar@bryanbehar.bsky.social

Is there anything more MAGA than the smug arrogance of someone who’s dead wrong but doesn’t realize it yet?

It's wild that we basically knew this was happening at the time, but it's been allowed to continue for > 15 years until any of this ended up in a legal document. Malaga were defenestrated for much less. Aside: PSG did more or less the same thing, likely still doing it.

Thomas I-G@thomasig.bsky.social

Oh, they are so fucked.

This deserves a new thread. The claim here, I think, is that today's C19 vaccines would have >= 95% VE if tested in a (hypothetical) completely naive cohort. These vaccines face two problems: waning and immune escape. Both are solvable with a faster vaccine update schedule, on the order of 6 mo.

This post is unavailable.

This means we could suppress and perhaps eliminate SARS2 by keeping ~92% of the population boosted. Lots of ways to do this, e.g. with a rolling schedule. This is the claim. I'm just an anonymous house on fire. Surely 1000s of PH officials have looked at the problem and reached the same conclusion?
