Back in the day, you chopped wood all day for the fire in your fireplace and carried water from the river to your house. What is stupid answer. Advances in medical science should become accepted and available to all. Not universally looked at as something that’s give or take.

Lieske: Now, you know, I have done no research on this topic. Lackey: That’s true. Lieske: The only thing I have to base my views on are random things I think I heard. Lackey: Yes. Lieske: HOWEVER…

And (almost) everyone in history who died in agony from plague, smallpox, typhoid, cholera, sepsis, tetanus, syphilis, AIDS...had an immune system. Often, it's the overactive immune system that kills you.

Right. Do rely on “strong immune system”. It is all the others you will infect. Children. Elderly. Immunity compromised. If it was only you it would not matter. The brain-challenged can go the way of the dodo.

Measles _can_ cause immune amnesia. I haven't seen anything even hinting how common that effect is. Of course, the fact that it CAN occur makes it a critical issue for public health. I'm sure RFK Jr is solving it even as we speak.

That article (in a quick skim) indicates that it's nearly a universal effect, and that it's temporary (if you survive the opportunistic infections afterwards) for 1-2 years... but then it hints at permanent effects for children not being able to recover the immune elements from previous vaccinations

I remember Chicken Pox parties for kids but not Measles parties. Measles was/is a different level of disease. Virulent and dangerous. Severe pneumonia Ear infections leading to hearing loss Encephalitis (brain inflammation) Permanent neurological damage Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis Death

No moron - we had chicken pox parties. Big difference in the illness. Pre-vaccines: Chicken pox killed 150, 4 million infected annually. Measles killed 500 with 48,000 hospitalized plus complications like encephalitis or lifelong destroying 75% of the immune system, organ, lung, vision damage.

Measles is not chicken pox and kills 140K people worldwide each year. As for chicken pox you actually carry the disease for the rest of your life which leads to shingles so also worth vaccinating against This person is a moron.

People had measles parties thinking it was like the chicken pox parties and some of those resulted in deaths that were unnecessary. If you can prevent deaths, then prevent them, don't cause them! FFS 🤔

The ignorance of the GOP is stunning. Not only are they ignorant about science, but they seem to be ignorant about history. 😡 It makes you wonder what school they went to. When I was a kid we learned about this stuff in elementary school! #ResistPeacefully #VoteBlue #NoKings #ImpeachTrump 💙🇺🇸

Go look at the ages on the headstones of the children prior to an effective vaccine who didn't just get "the sniffles." MAGA is a sadistic cult of death enablers.

I went to elementary school with kids who lost their hearing to measles. I know women who had to have abortions because they contracted measles early in their pregnancy and their babies were growing deformed with no chance of survival. I don’t see that as a joke.

The measles vaccine was introduced in US almost 30 years before this asshat was born. I'm sure he attended lotsa parties. What is up w/these dangerous, stupid fools?

How many severe cases is acceptable? He many deaths? If achieving herd immunity safeguards the entire population, why not? Because you drank the kool-aid jfk Jr is selling? A democracy should strive for policies that promote the common good.

In 2011 an 6 kids got measles at a preschool in San Francisco. One eventually went completely deaf. One is mentally impaired. Two died relatively quickly of COVID in 2022. Our grandkid went to that school. She was vaccinated and didn’t get measles. The kids who got it weren’t vaccinated.

I had encephalitis after measles in the very early ‘60’s. Coma for a week and needed physical therapy to learn to walk again. All 3 of my kids were vaccinated as soon as possible; my 2 grandsons, likewise.

My wife grew up in the same neighbourhood as two sisters who got measles decades ago and were brain damaged by it. They are verbal but their cognition never developed beyond a childlike stage and they have needed lifelong care from their parents and after they died from an unaffected older sister.

My mother was a pediatric nurse in the 1940s-50s. I got the ineffective vaccine in the early ‘60s and got the measles. My mother wasn’t the panicking type, but she panicked then. It was not - and is not - a “joke.”

I wish they'd all just [redacted]. This is what happens when we solve a problem so well. Stupid people conclude that there was never a problem. I hate them all. So much.

Measles was the number one killer of children before 1963 and the invention of the vaccine. These people are morons

To be fair both Measles and Chicken Pox have killed people. The MAJOR difference is, Measles has killed TENS OF MILLIONS MORE PEOPLE than Chicken Pox has. I believe this is part of Project 2025. This is just a less messy way of culling people.

Back in the day when the most successful vaccine didn't exist, measles was the most contagious disease responsible for epidemics causing an estimated 2.6 million deaths per year. 95,000 people died from measles in 2024 – mostly children under 5, despite vaccine availability bsky.app/profile/atru...

Pfft- we're having a Bubonic Plague party at my place this weekend. Next weekend we're having a Pneumonic Plague party. Next month is a smallpox party!

🇨🇦🇺🇦🤔I know it’s a far stretch but perhaps Senator Bill Lieske would like to explain why so many Americans have died of the measles in the past couple of years, especially children, & why it has spread so rapidly. Or would that be too much to ask as he is paid by taxpayers to know this shit??

"Right now, the Republican Party is basically the Titanic. We're slowly sinking, we have a band playing on the deck telling everybody it's fine. And meanwhile, Trump is running around trying to find women's clothing and get on the first lifeboat."

Impotus Americanus is one of the heaviest leaders in the animal kingdom, and is famously known to be an orange, ruddy color not found in nature.

If God forbid there is ever such a thing as a "measles party" today, that's f'ing child abuse man. Same with the chicken pox. I wish there was a chicken pox vaccine that I could've taken because getting the shingles some years ago sucked

Why is it you recognize these creatures as committing every other evil under the sun EXCEPT that you think they're honest? They don't believe anything that they're saying. They're just trying to kill people. They are monsters that can't do anything else.

I gave those numbers as a snapshot example of a point with fairly good public health records and no immunizations or antibiotics available. Not that the US is the only place that matters, any more than 1912-1921 is the only time.

Rubella, also considered to be a milder version of measles can also be dangerous to fertility in adults and was a huge contributor to blindness, deafness, encephalopathy and intellectual disabilities when contracted in pregnancy. Being anti-vax does not stop disabling conditions, it truly is a cause

“ Back in the day” millions died from the plague, Some just dropped walking down the street! So what? We should throw away antibiotics too⁉️🙄🙄🙄😖😖😖😫😫😫😫😫

Getting measles as a child wasn’t the problem. Passing those measles to a pregnant woman is where the damage was done. So much for ‘pro-life’.

No, no sane person would willingly give their kid measles. It can turn really bad really quickly and dangerously. There were no measle parties when I was a kid, and there was no vaccine.

I was hoping they were just ignorant twats, but sadly they go on to say "like chicken pox parties" at the very end, making them evil and ignorant twats.

The Republican party: "We are PRO giving your unvaccinated public school kid measles, because only private schools (funded with your stolen money through our "voucher" scam) for our rich kids (who've all been vaccinated) matter, your kids can either just die or become day laborers if they survive"

You know, if we're going to throw science out the window anyway, we might as well critique these guy with: "This man said he wants to give your child herpes[viridae] at a party! Disgusting!!11"

The Measles Party I went to was a bit different....it started with putting my car keys in a fishbowl and then we got naked. Haven't had the measles since!

Here's an idea for Americans: establish national public vaccination database; every vaccinated person gets listed with any vaccinations administered. Refuse to be listed = don't receive vaccines. Should stop all that nonsense hypocrisy.

No, Lieske, they did NOT have measles parties. SOME had chicken pox parties, but those were also rare and having nothing to do with measles. Measles destroys the bodies' built-up defenses. Measles parties would be a death sentence to many.

What part of measles causing preventable complications when contracted by pregnant women does this brilliant legislator think is irrelevant? Oh. Wait. He is so stupid and clueless (AKA an ignorant Republican) he probably doesn’t know because measles HAD BEEN ERADICATED.

And The Dumbest Kennedy making up reasons why measles are back, and trying to blame Fauci (again). Imbeciles like that guy are the reason. No need to look any further.

My 87 year old Mom begs to differ....a month in quarantine with a sign in the yard, her preacher father had to sleep in the church and leave his wife to take care of two very sick girls alone. These ignorant jerks are dangerous.

No. Those were chicken pox parties and that was a bad idea. I remember standing in line for the vaccine in the 70’s in elementary school, because there was an outbreak in town and everyone freaked out. Unfortunately, I already had it but didn’t know it. Full on measle-y the next day. 🤦‍♀️😩

Govt leaders should be held accountable for spreading disinformation and misinformation.

Now in the 70s I wouldn't call it a party but we did deliberately try to get chicken pox. Parents booked time with infected friends kids. Was it smart, probably not. Now I don't remember measles having the same thing. The only friend I knew that got it, no one went to see her. This is insane.

The idea back then was that chicken pox was much worse in adults, and often killed them, while in children they usually survived. I have no idea of that's true, but my parents believed that was true. Measles was always considered far worse. Had a blind job in our neighborhood due to measles.
