i'm at the unreviewsble baseline discourse. i'm at the unwritten check swing rule discourse. i'm at the combination unreviewable baseline unwritten check swing rule discourse

I know the baseball god when I see it, I learned to spot it watching Cardinals devil magic in the aughts. It does not bless every WS winner, sometimes it allows entropy to lead, but sometimes it is unmistakable. How else do you explain the Loria Marlins, Red Sox comeback, David Freese, Cubs curse

There's no way the Brewers don't just run the table after a start like this. That was amazing

Cartoon bad guy behavior. So wildly on brand I think I'm impressed.

If you're a connoisseur of on-brand James Dolan pettiness, grudge-settling, and ham-fisted dumbassery, have I got the article for you www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

The fact that Dearon Fox can throw Chet like a ragdoll is so unbelievably embarrassing. My guy, you've got 12 inches on him that's humiliating. At least walk into a gym, eat something, anything.

i feel kind of bad. this year a bunch of us sports fans on bluesky started posting stuff like "the knicks won the nba finals" and "indiana won the national college football title." it was funny for a while, but we've dragged it on so long that people who don't watch sports think they actually did

Not a bad baseball stance. From the 14th-century Le Roman de la Rose.

This could basically describe every other commercial playing right now. A bizarre number leave me wondering "was there a joke? That's not how jokes work." Some others don't make any sense but they kind of sound like they do. And it's got me wondering how much AI is being used by ad agencies.

What *is* the Kevin Hart ad where he is screaming in a huddle? What are they saying? What is the joke? Like, what is the joke being played, with the long pause and then him saying they are exactly correct. Does Kevin Hart know? If you asked him, could he tell you what the joke is?

This taco bell spot is the worst offender. A couple of assholes pretend they're VIPs in the VIP section of a taco bell. And the manager(?) spokesperson(?) corporate suit(?) says to the aggrieved "it's ok they do this all the time." Huh??? Why does that make it ok? Who are they? Who are you?

What the fuck is going on with these anti-nausea drug commercials? Seriously. Can someone explain why they would do any of that? "chatgpt, make an animated short with a boat." "I don't need to watch it just send it out."

The villain passenger in the car appears to be occupying the same space as the driver. The characters could be the same model. The action reads as filmed rather than animated, how the car pulls alongside the other is...wrong. AND I've seen it 30 times and I can't remember the name of the drug.

Why are they holding a sandwich in the Kalshi commercial? Because it's for the people? But they're just holding it? No one's eating and why is there a gap to the guys at the end? No one even bothers addressing the sandwich in the commercial. It almost makes sense. But doesn't quite.

What are they doing in the ensemble cast polymarket commercial? Where are they, why would you set gambling in a sterile office? Gambling companies set things in bars, sporting events, home parties. No one's betting or working on the computers, they're on their cell phones.

Smoltz always talks like he's going over a quiz with the class but just got challenged and is now kind of flustered

Patrick Daugherty@rotopat.bsky.social

It's a well-trod topic, but John Smoltz has to have the most bizarre color commentator tone in the history of sports

Sports betting, AI apologia, fascist anti-trans propaganda, prediction market, brand using AI to make commerical, sports betting, AI apologia for 4 minutes every twenty minutes is so incredibly bad for my mental health. I can't fucking wait to be done watching shit with commercials (for two months)
