for the first 23 years of dan's life he believed his name was either "dan" or "lovsky"

look i’m horribly sorry for posting a pat mcafee clip here but i don’t know if this has made it to bluesky yet and it has to be seen to be believed i’ve never seen the entire mcafee ecosystem unite in disbelief that they are all smarter than their guest like this

via @stathead.com, throughout 122 years of world series history there have been two games in which a team scored 10+ runs and allowed 3 or fewer hits. both were the brewers (tonight and 1982 game 1)

the chiefs have 96 total yards on offense and the game's not even over yet. i figure if they can get to 100 yards, that's a football field's worth, so that basically counts as a win

i think people seriously overcomplicate chili. it really only involves three ingredients: water, beans and msg. if there are any foods you’re allergic to, throw some of that in for some added zing. don’t heat the pot. don’t be performative

if you ever happen to see someone post a joke you don't understand or discuss a subject you aren't familiar with, you are well within your right to complain, and perhaps even scold them if necessary. you are their customer and you have rights

don't look now but dabo swinney and his boys are gonna fry the circuits in the bcs computers if they keep snapping off chunk plays down in the swamp

now that i’m in my forties i’m trying to add a doofus gawk to my repertoire. you know when you see a guy in the grocery store stop at the end of an aisle with his mouth open and gaze down there for so long you wonder why he doesn’t just walk down the aisle? that’s the move. that’s what i want

they should get rid of the designated hitter and just let the pitcher try to throw a base hit when it’s his turn at the plate. that’s the way it always should have been

if you're confused whenever football fans post the word "doink": a doink is an unusual and therefore rather exciting procedure in which a coach meets with a line judge to confirm which offensive players have declared themselves eligible to receive. this was often done by giants coach Bruce St. Doink

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

theatlantic.comThe Man Who Saved the Internet YesterdayOndřej Surý was a relatively anonymous volunteer working on PHP security. Then the internet exploded.

every sport has a fun term for a weird little oddball occurrence. basketball has the wedgie, where the ball gets stuck between the rim and backboard. football has the doink, where a kick bounces off a goal post. baseball has baseball games

the knicks' ring ceremony was cool. i think marriage should be between two people but at the end of the day it's not really about what i think

i feel kind of bad. this year a bunch of us sports fans on bluesky started posting stuff like "the knicks won the nba finals" and "indiana won the national college football title." it was funny for a while, but we've dragged it on so long that people who don't watch sports think they actually did

they're coming out with a new grand theft auto game just in time for christmas, but you'll have some sad little elves on your hands unless your kids have the newest model of nintendo. be sure to pick up some joysticks, carrying cases, and cleaning kits as well – and don't forget the rf modulator

russell vought: "ha ha ha! there are too many sports on tonight! jon will never be able to follow them all!" me: think again. thanks to my wireless remote control, i can easily flip from the wnba finals, to the alcs, to the nfl – all without getting off the couch russell vought: "noooooooo!!!!!!"

good move by the yankees. he was their manager last year so he has lots of experience already

Aaron Boone is returning as Yankees manager next season, a source confirmed to ESPN. @pcaldera was on the news.

robert de niro: "stan belinda." al pacino: "tom lampkin." me, taking a huge drag off a cigar like it's a cigarette: "randy knorr." pacino: "now that's what i'm talkin' about"

[0:04] now, this is just me, outside looking in, i don’t know nothing, guys [0:18] and again, i’m not saying i know nothing, guys [0:44] and again, i’m not a medical guy, but i’m just saying [1:03] now again, guys, i don’t know nothing [1:13] ok now’s a good time for me to pose like The Thinker

There's no need anymore for State TV

i’m not surprised to see taylor swift at the chiefs game today. her husband is chiefs all-pro tight end and three-time super bowl champion travis kelce, who recently added yet another ring to his collection — a wedding ring

alright this is one of the funniest ends to a half i've ever seen. panthers gain 9 yards, 4th and 1 from their 45, ~30 seconds left in the half. guy was ruled out of bounds but the clock keeps running for some reason, nobody on either team cares, nobody calls a timeout, clock runs out, halftime

the funny part is that you can understand why neither team would particularly want to play this out. a game situation neither team wanted any part of just sort of formed organically

every single week i am nothing short of amazed by what the nfl red zone channel is able to pull off. logistically speaking it's a brilliant feat of engineering. 22 guys on the field, probably two or three costume changes per minute. astounding

“you can see everything” should have been called “you can see the movie.” as a matter of fact, that should be the title of every movie

“n.c.a.a.”? “w.n.b.a.”? “m.l.b.”? after i’m finished watching all of today’s sports, i’m going to need a “n.a.p.”!

imagine how much amazing chaos we could sow into the game of football if we awarded 9 points for a doink. talent evaluation for kickers would go completely upside-down, teams would bring in doink specialists, some offenses down 8 would call in the kicker at 4th and goal on the 1. let's do it

🚨 brand new grocery store on the scene in bed-stuy! 🚨 foodtown on broadway and halsey, near saratoga park. if you enjoy the gates avenue foodtown or the super foodtown on fulton, you can expect the same friendly service and low prices in a slightly more intimate setting. enjoy, and happy shopping

i never actually watched the show fringe but i still really enjoyed it, because whenever someone started talking about it you could sort of play along, nod, agree, praise the show in a very broad way. then once you really had them hooked you could drop a "so ross and rachel were on a break, right"

this is why you should have to be at least 90 years old to run for president. these people haven’t even really found their footing yet. let them navigate their way through what’s known as the “aimless eighties” before taking on the job

you gotta figure all those fans must be hungry after sitting and watching a baseball game for hours. then again, i'm sure they have snacks and things for sale at the ballpark

i know i’m old but as a kid growing up in the ‘90s, we usually got somewhere between 12 and 28 surprises inside a typical box of caylus vs. foltyn
