ok fine it's getting to that point, how is codeberg? should I use it instead of github? what are my options to escape microsoft's orbit entirely?

What's up with Discord's window's "maximize" behavior? It always feels broken and horrible hahahaha. Confusing for an app that otherwise seems pretty well maintained/designed.

WE WON THE #Godot #WildJam 98!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made a new free web game! You interpret signs from the spirits to answer silly questions!! The spirit can be an other person (like ur friend), so you can test ur spirit communication skills as a team (or play solo too)! it works on mobile and pc! qaqelol.itch.io/psychic-side... #Godot #GameDev

Nice I'll take it! Not bad for a solo jam, now I just need to team up with some other people next time hahaha

hearing more and more people vibe coding tools for their game dev workflows. mediocre homebrew tools are a big part of the sauce that makes each developer's games unique, quirky, and recognizable. not "user-facing" and better than some usage, but users still feel it and it homogenizes your games.

Game industry - don't tell me you liked my video - I don't care - get the fuck off twitter This election cycle Elon Musk doubled his contributions to around 1/2 billion dollars including for some of the most vile ads - he gave $5m to a Vivek PAC for instance He is limiting Starlink to aid Russia

this is a great representation of where my brain goes whenever anyone talks about "revenue share" as a valid counterbalance to the bullshit the gen ai industry is pulling on us in the USA.

Don't let billionaires convince you slop is the future. They're used to managing & directing, not making things themselves. Of course they can't see the difference. They don't understand your love for the craft. Keep making personal, beautiful games. You've got my support 💖

Next Fest is really demonstrating the curse of the idea guy. Anyone can have an idea or steal one, but to make it good means living with it, working it, exploring it and finding what makes it work and is special. Or you can just have Claude shit out slop no one wants to play. Valve always needs

Whenever people talk about using AI to study, learn, help them find information, etc, I can't help but think that it's literally never been harder to find information online. It's the worst it's ever been lol. You just weren't using computers until you could talk to them like they were your servant.

i saw a very popular music production influencer who has been a grifter for years now make a video about how his main use case for AI in his music workflow is to batch bounce and batch name stems for his beats. Like... we've had that feature in Reaper for like a decade or something, goofy shit

calling the fucking DMV and them using an "AI assistant" that includes office background and typing sound effects is so fucking infuriating and dystopian. Like it's not a person, so don't fucking waste my time making me listen to a recording of someone inputting data on their computer between lines

my friend left some NA beers here and it's kinda fun ripping through cold canned drinks that look like beers while I'm technically at work hahahaha. I don't ilke the taste of NA beer but this one is super tasty actually, "best day brewing electro-lime mexican style"

just had an ai bro backtrack on what he was saying in his video talking about how he "uses AI to playtest games" lol. Like, playtesting isn't about any specific metric. it's about the player's fun, there's literally no way something that isn't actually playing the game can tell if it feels good.

me and my friend drew are playing a show in san diego ca at black cat on oct 3, we go on first! also before anyone asks how i made this masterpiece, i edited the video using reaper and aseprite hahahaha

I would have assumed people using these AI apps to do stuff for them would be surrounded by other people doing that, and be able to see that the game they're "making" looks exactly like the ones their friends have, and have a lightbulb moment, but... I guess they actually just don't have friends?

ok i love the love for ms rachel but a lot of posts are like "she's on the tv all day at the house" and like... please don't have the tv on for your kids all day hahaaha. I don't think she'd want that either

who exactly is the target audience for meta muse? from what i gather it's a new take on the "agentic ai" that's designed... to spend your money for you? like, in this economy? must be nice havin the cash to let your computer buy stuff with your money and not worry about overdrafting your account lol

How good would a game have to be for you to tolerate this? Like I think I'd actually prefer never playing a videogame again than interacting with this concept hahaha

Lum@brokentoys.social

I will never, *ever* purchase a game with this 'functionality'.

I fell into the accidental algorabbit hole of watching magic the gathering vintage pack openings and now it's all I get fed and I am unfortunately here to report that the magic cards I sold to buy a lot of the music gear I was using starting out are probably worth like over $100k now. :( hahaa

like what do you mean people are selling foil onslaught polluted deltas for 1-2k? I had play sets of this type of stuff back in the day and it seemed so wildly valuable already when I sold it. mox diamond? mox jet? jeez. i don't want to look at it, depressing

Why has Silicon Valley gotten so crazy right wing and loony? You taught them they could, as there is nothing, nothing Elon Musk can do to get so many of you to not buy a Tesla or god forbid not use Twitter. They look at what he can get away with and think they deserve that as well.

Since it's my 50th time round the sun, would you care to share my art around? That would be a splendid gift, thank you! 🥰 emilyhare.com #dragons #fantasyart #watercolour #creatureart #unicorns

Man this "AI will take over the world" and "AI will kill all humans" shit is beyond insufferable. Like stop building it if you believe that, and since you obviously won't stop building it please shut the fuck up and stay in your lane. It's genuinely the most annoying marketing I've ever seen

Finding out it costs like, hiring an employee level money to use these AI apps the way that tech bro influencers are talking about them is insane. Cool reskin of space invaders, took a week and thousands of dollars? Anyone who has ever done a game jam can do it better in a weekend lol

Zoom is such awful software, BUT why don't very many other video call programs have markup/annotation features? I pretty much always want to be able to turn on the ability to draw on someone's screen

People talk about how "AI" products "steal" creative work in order to function, and that is usually framed as something that happens as part of the material used to "train" the model. What I've noticed usually getting left out is the much more direct way in which ideas are stolen. (1/5)

And no, filing for proof of ownership with the US copyright office isn't good advice. It's expensive, clunky, and requires legal defense if I want to exploit the benefit, which costs money that I don't have. Our systems surrounding defense of IP are paper shields that only protect the wealthy (4/5)

So anyway, yeah, you may have heard my work on a tv show or in an album, but I haven't stopped doing music for fun; I just don't see the point of publishing it as often as I used to. Come see me play or hire me to do music/arranging/production for your game/show/movie/band. I'm still here! (5/5)

Most of this stuff isn't "good" enough at copying a style and it's usually being feeding a single work directly into the model to output something more akin to a deepfake than to an actual ground-up generation. It's most obvious in videos, but it works with music and images too. (2/5)

Anyway, I've been extremely hesitant to post original work online that isn't part of a well-promoted project, which is why you haven't seen me release much music or art in the last few years. I'm not famous enough to "prove" that someone's ripoff is a ripoff unless my original was popular. (3/5)

ACE studio ai WILL NOT STOP CONTACTING ME. I blocked them and they're contacting me through an intermediary agency offering me "approximately $54.80 to $164.41" per video promoting their slop machine. my previous email literally said "fuck off" no caps just like that hahahha.

Dang the new openai product's *cinematic advertisement* doesn't even contain stuff that's exciting or scary. Everyone's like "game dev is cooked! it can connect to blender and make space invaders clone with a 3D model based on your prompt!" Like nobody actually wants to buy that lol

The transition from Enya's "May It Be" to the Shire theme is probably the best ultra-hollywood emotional payoff you can do in film. absolute master class in basic "V is related to I" music theory just absolutely sent home with beautiful melodies and orchestration. 10/10 no notes

hire me to do audio stuff for you (or just send me money so i can work on my own game without getting distracted by paid work hahahaha)
