I've published `temporal-polyfill-lite` v1.0.0, the first stable release with few bug fixes and changes. The most important thing: the `global` entry point no longer overwrites existing Temporal implementation by default. github.com/fabon-f/temp...

I am going on a trip to Uzbekistan with my parents from the 17th to the 21nd. I worry a bit about a language barrier. I know English and Russian pretty well, so interpersonal communication should be fine, but notices and signboards may be written only in Uzbek, which I don't understand at all.

github.com/WebKit/WebKi... WebKit / Safari is closing the last gap between the spec and the implementation of Temporal. They were struggling with discrepancies in calendrical calculations of ICU across platforms and versions, but it seems they have resolved all issues. Very good news.

Migrating `Date`, moment.js, day.js, or Luxon to Temporal in chaotic codebase isn't straightforward. It's like a migration of terrible JavaScript code to TypeScript.

temporal-polyfill 🕒 1.0 is out! Smaller and with a tree-shakeable API that can be codemodded away. Great for component lib authors: tiny footprint now, zero footprint later, and shared internals with the host app's polyfill (if they choose to install it).

I'm very happy to know that JSPI on wasm will be shipped in all major browsers within a few months. Asyncify was definitely a great workaround but not an ideal solution at all.

Lately I've found myself repeating the same explanations to different people about how Node.js and V8 build/test/stay in sync with each other. To reduce the parroting, here's a blog post about the workflows, challenges I see, and some hands-on tips joyeecheung.github.io/blog/2026/05...

I ran Temporal tests in test262 against Node.js v26, and Node.js fails in 1.3 k files (6.8 k files in total) because behavior of non-ISO calendars is not spec-compliant.

Recently I knew Takumi, an alternative rendering engine to Satori. It seems that Takumi is generally better at multilingual support than Satori. Takumi can render complex scripts like Thai and Arabic properly, which Satori renders incorrectly or even can't render.

It has been a year since Anthropic CEO stated AI will write 100% of code in a year, and now I write 100% of code (note: I'm not AI). Tech geeks in the midst of AI frenzy would never think such a programmer still exists in the world though.

Reading TG2 meeting notes are my monthly delight, but honestly I find it difficult to understand discussions on areas except dates, times, and calendars, since I've been focusing on Temporal exclusively for a long time. Maybe it's time for me to learn other things, especially numerics and amounts.

Yesterday I gave a talk about Temporal and ECMAScript in a small dev meetup called #temporal_study in Tokyo. In summary, I looked back the history of date time processing in JavaScript and analyze what Temporal brings to the web and other areas (especially i18n).

Temporal brings to us: 1. immutable data types representing different types of "date" and "time" with proper semantics and rigid APIs which handles every possible edge cases consistently 2. reasonable APIs for time zone data and calendrical calculations

3. thorough specification which defines how JavaScript engines should handle time zone database and non-Gregorian calendars, which should result in better compatibility for web

Temporal is finally here, "8 yrs, 11 mos" in the making! Congrats @ptomato.name and and the champions! Humbled to be invited to the @tc39.es meeting where it moved to Stage 4. During my work on temporal-polyfill, I collaborated with the champions to improve datetime arithmetics and duration rounding

You are up to date.
