The Government of Alberta, after stripping charter-rights from trans kids, decided to go even further and defacto ban pride flags. Because queer kids weren't bullied enough already, so the government had to make clear that they don't belong, aren't welcome.

I am writing a press release riddled with hockey references. And they say you'll never use the skills you learned in your youth ✨️ (I grew up playing [winning] recreational hockey 🏒)

If you’ve ever wanted a T-shirt repping a racist Canadian group pushing for mass deportations, your purchase is just a few clicks away — all thanks to Shopify. When I reached out to them, they said "we don’t remove merchants over objections to their worldview.” Wow. My latest for @thetyee.ca:

We have like!!! 10 more tour events this month, and then two very big very exciting meetings in Ottawa and then ??? Pride!!! And then??? More things !! A whole federal campaign, a BC campaign coming out next week??? So many things!!! <3 Sleep, where and what are you!!!!

In the last 8 days i have been to: Kelowna: ✅️ Kamloops: ✅️ Vancouver: ✅️ Moncton: ✅️ Fredericton: ✅️ Three more cities till I head home (for 3 days!!!) before I set out for a week and a half of meetings and events in Ottawa!! Busiest. Summer. Ever. 🎉😴😅

We wrapped up the BC leg of the Trans Canada Tour on Saturday, after tour stops in Kelowna, Kamloops and Vancouver. After BC, I hopped on a plane and headed back east to celebrate Pride in Moncton, NB, where I was honored to speak at and lead their trans march (despite pouring rain!).

And because apparently I can't get enough time *on the road* I am headed to Fredericton tonight to speak at the Canadian Labour Congress / NB Federation of Labour summer camp tomorrow morning before I head back west for 3 tour stops in Saskatchewan!

I no longer know what day it is, or what time zone my brain is on, but that's okay because: everywhere we go, we are building the movement, connecting with leaders and injecting joy into our queer eco system! For those in SK, you can rsvp for our upcoming events here: linktr.ee/queermomentu...

If we had let Amy Hamm into our event, she would have taken our words out of context and used them to further malign the trans movement. At least this way, we were able to have a real convo with people genuinely interest in discussion. We had a great event.

We've had people disagree with us. Weve had people who are anti trans join the convo. All of that is welcome and really cool actually. But Amy Hamm and her pals only want scandal and outrage. Her pulling out her phone to record us and our security guard tells you everything.

I truly thought and hoped that, when the attack on transgender rights began in Canada, we would see a real growth in financial support for trans advocacy. That hasn't happened. And idk how to put in words how sad and worried that makes me.

Idk I'm in a rather unique position leading a national advocacy organization, and we have been thankfully fairly successful at fundraising, but even then, its scraps. Local organizing is even more cash strapped. We cant win this fight if we dont fund the movement.

We (my org) poured all the money we could into alberta. 70k. It should've been 700k. It should have been multiple millions. We are working with such minimal resources pulled in so many different directions. Imagine if we were well resourced. Imagine if we could dream big.
