Bell Media has asked the #CRTC for permission to combine CKVR-DT (CTV2 Barrie) and CFTO-DT-21 (CTV Toronto/Orillia) transmitters through multiplexing, making CTV Toronto a subchannel on CKVR. Both would broadcast at 720p, vs. 1080i now. If denied, Bell says it would shut the Orillia transmitter.

Corus announced yesterday it is replacing its Global TV app with a new StackTV app that offers a free tier of Global programs (similar to what Bell did with CTV/Crave). The new StackTV also adds Corus's children's channels, and will be available directly on Roku, iOS and web, with others to come.

StackTV will also allow TV authentication so cable subscribers can access Flavour, Home, W, History, Adult Swim, Slice, Showcase, NatGeo and Lifetime content online. But YTV, Cartoon Network, DTOUR and children's channels are deliberately excluded from this for some reason.
