World ending capabilities aside, I just hate how AI art has made everything look now. I hate looking at posters for local comedy shows, community fairs and campaign posters and they are all these stupid soulless dead eyed graphics. It's made the internet and coffee shop poster boards alike so ugly

Well-funded healthcare and tackling ER closures, the natural resource economy, working with Carney on the US trade war, safe streets and rule of law. This is all things Eby has talked about for the past two years. Only new thing is making it so you can't have provincial elections during municipal

Biggest difference here is DRIPA which Eby was going to reform to give First Nations less legal leeway and which Doerkson says will be repealed, likely in spring session. But even then they are pretty aligned, talking about need for full partnerships and respect

There were 303 rejected ballots in Peace River North, the riding where the only candidates were Conservative and former Conservative Jordan Kealy running as an independent while facing a sexual assault charge. The riding had just 18 rejected ballots in 2024. #bcpoli

Replying to @melwoods.me

And yeah, there’s some alarm bells from what they’ve promised, like repealing SOGI and the parental rights stuff. But nowhere in their platform is an immediate trans health ban or bathroom bill or anything like that. Not to say that can’t ever happen. But it’s definitely not happening tomorrow.

The only theory that makes sense to me is if there were NDP MLAs threatening to walk if he didn't cave to some demands he didn't see as viable. But even then, hard to imagine that letting that happen and then letting the opposition be responsible for a non-confidence vote wouldn't have been better

I think what's gonna stick with me the most, like a majority of people, is just what the hell David Eby was thinking, and who (if anyone) was whispering in his ear that this was a good idea. Because everything leading up to this was non-stop warning signs not to pull the trigger.

Looking like record-low voter turnout in B.C. tonight. With 97.3% of ballot boxes reporting, Elections B.C. reports a turnout of 46.63%.

When is the last time you heard anyone mention the People's Party of Canada? Tonight's results have set OneBC on the same path

The BC Conservatives have won a majority government following BC NDP leader David Eby's decision to call a snap election almost two years ahead of schedule. Here's what a Conservative majority means for LNG, Indigenous Rights and more #bcpoli thenarwhal.ca/bc-election-...

thenarwhal.caWhat the B.C. election results mean for the environment | The NarwhalLorne Doerkson’s BC Conservatives have won the 2026 B.C. election. Here’s what that means for LNG, old-growth forests and more

Doerkson mentioned Prince George twice in his victory speech which, without any actual research, I am guessing is a record

I think one of the lessons here is that progressive governments will not win by trying to carve out cutesy conservative policies. Repealing the carbon tax, promising gas tax cuts: the NDP still got hammered. People see right through that shit. Run on what you’re good at, and how you’ll do better.

Remember, this all started with Kevin Falcon kicking John Rustad out of the B.C. Liberals for retweeting climate science denialism

Honestly shocked to see the NDP at 23 percent in Prince George-Mackenzie given 1. Extremely longstanding right-leaning riding, 2. Incumbent candidate pretty middle of the road 3. NDP candidate lives in Victoria and did no campaigning or press. Suggests this is the floor for the party here

B.C. Green Party Leader Emily Lowan: "We are the only party equipped to stand against the Conservatives and what they stand for... Over the next four years our job is to be a voice for the many people who will be harmed by their policies"

Doerkson just promised "certainty" in BC (signalling at his promise to repeal DRIPA). Great time to re-read @adampolsen.bsky.social for @thetyee.ca. thetyee.ca/Opinion/2026...

One of tonight's story is a lot of former B.C. Liberal organizers who thought the party had become too conspiratorial minded or focused on their most passionate supporters took control of the party, told online influencers to pound sand and support One B.C. if they so dared, and were vindicated

Having not received enough punishment for the night, David Eby posts his congratulations to Lorne Doerkson on bluesky dot com

Oh there's the dog whistles. Doerkson believes in "property rights" and "parks that are open to all British Columbians"

I think this is the furthest north an elected Premier in B.C. has lived since Duff Pattullo of Prince Rupert in 1933?

In the Northwest, the NDP has held on to North Coast-Haida Gwaii. Conservatives have kept Skeena after flipping it from the NDP in 2024. Still in play: Bulkley Valley-Stikine, which flipped NDP to Conservatives in 2024. Also surprisingly still in play is John Rustad's old Nechako Lakes riding

David Eby says he called Lorne Doerkson and sincerely wishes him best of luck leading the province, as we are at a critical juncture. Says he takes full responsibility for all the NDP candidates who have not been reelected. Now going through his successes (lower rents, more doctors, higher min wage)

Yep. "I'll be offering my resignation as Premier, obviously, but just as importantly as the leader of the B.C. NDP"
