In the near future I'll be expanding this series to the themes of Stillness, Nature, Noise, and Glitch. I have a pretty large list of games I've found.

This is very cool. Collaboration with @amazefest.bsky.social and various Ethiopian art organizations for an artist residency in Addis Ababa. I have a Ethiopian Diaspora based art game project I released in the newest @theziumsociety.itch.io. Excited to see this scene expand to my home country.

I will be curating some esoteric short-form horror games from the depths of itch.io and we'll play them live together on the big screen.

This project is dramatically different from what it was 2 years ago. It's more creatively unhinged. Two major decisions I'll write about more later 1. Can only run on one computer. A system specifically designed to experience it 2. It won't be released as a download. Your physical presence is needed

farfama@farfama.bsky.social

These decisions are also influenced by a huge cultural shift in games and art, and the ways I enjoy experiencing both. Offline, focused, and outside the noise pollution of opinions, reviews, marketing, influence, trends, choices, and whatever the discourse of the day is.

I've considered the idea of having this only be experienced in locations detached from everyday routine, or as a performance piece. Still a long way to go. It's like I'm painting a few brush strokes here and there, only to realize that I have discovered a new color and way to paint every few months

I've started to focus on listing less games for each curation topic. I think planting a seed, and letting it grow though community contributions via some type of per page message board or dicussion system is the approach I will be taking.

Still a lot of UI planning to do for that. Also in the early stages of bringing the site into popup in-person exhibition spaces in Tokyo. Stay tuned.

GDoC Expo happens this week. Much needed event given the state of the industry. The grant I received in 2024 allowed me to gain access to tools and resources for my most ambitious project, and the personal confidence to pursue its pure artistic potential without the trappings of commercial pressure.

The global game community is diverse. The industry isn't. GDoCExpo is an online conference that exists to close that gap. Celebrate creativity & culture in games w/ us! This week: talks, panels, interviews, networking, community demos, Direct, grant awards & watch parties! Who we are & what we do👇🏽

IGF submissions close this Sunday. Nice seeing transparency about the judging process of games. @moomanibe.bsky.social has some great advice. I also wrote about my process of being an @amazefest.bsky.social award jury member this year for those interested. farfamahar.github.io/blog/what-it...

heyyyyy IGF submissions for this year are open! If you're making a cool indie game I would love it if you would submit it! If you're thinking about it but not sure, I outline some reasons why you might (or might not) in detail here auratriolo.com/blog/2024/09...

Organizing an event after TGS week. I won't be hosting this time as I will be out of the city, but people from the community have agreed to help out. I'll be curating talks, so stay tuned. If you have a topic you would be interested in sharing (5 min) and you'll be in Tokyo, reach out!

Me every time I dust off my VR headset. Then the head discomfort, nausea, and eye strain kicks in after an hour

Jacob Geller@jacobgeller.com

Played about 2.5 hours of games in VR tonight, by which I mean I had a transcendent 15 minutes after an entire evening of setup and troubleshooting

I've probably done over 100 playtests of the 5 minute experience and something that's so fascinating about this is that depending on where you decide to hold your gaze, the visual experience and feeling is radically different

I also created an itch collection with all the games I mentioned. The full list is available on my site which is linked in the collection itch.io/c/7719853/ex...

My A MAZE. Berlin talk 'Experiential Design' has been uploaded. You can watch it here. I didn't realize how much of it is me giving tons of shoutouts 😅. There's a lot of personal design philosophy in there too. Enjoy youtu.be/fGbs9IcCyjY

Had a chance to play this and many other great games at Dissonance 不穏 last weekend. Visual metaphor & memoir in bitsy form. Also so interesting to recreate a personal game from many years ago with a stronger technical, creative skillset along with a recontextualized life perspective. Remake/Re-view

🖼️ I exhibited my first game at Dissonance 不穏! I remade the game from scratch for this event, worked with Matsurika LLC for the Japanese localisation and made an interactive sheet for people to write what their favourite train station is 🚆
