It's not every day that the designer of BioShock's Fort Frolic and The Cradle in Thief Deadly Shadows comes out with a new game. You should buy it!

The Killing Stone, starring @emmagregoryvoice.bsky.social & @voiceofobrien.bsky.social is out NOW! Can you beat the Devil at his own game? 🕯️🩸🪨 😈 youtu.be/tO1FtKzrSG4?... Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/2781470/... Sony: store.playstation.com/en-us/concep... Xbox: www.xbox.com/en-US/games/...

Mediateka Sanok (Poland) arranged an exhibition of Hungarian comics, my story "Genre-Hop!" (drawn by Ági Korbuly) was among the selected, it appears in SMAK 3.

Aside from the DeLorean and K.I.T.T., for some reason I was obsessed with the Fiat Coupé and I still think it looks sick, and it's a very rare sight, I only saw one in Italy, but I used to draw that thing over and over

What was the first car you ever dreamed of owning, and do you still want one today?

God I love this. What I'd give to write such a character. Like that C. L. Moore story where Northwest Smith travels back in time and teams up with Jirel of Joiry. Also, I love foxes. Magnificent, chef's kiss, no notes.

I'm not familiar with H2 and this is looking suspiciously cheap, so what's the catch?

Korean publisher H2 Interactive's striking while the iron's hot on physical publishing, starting with a Re-Volt port for Switch (also coming digitally for PS5/Switch Re-Volt's one of those games that found outsized popularity in Korea & has been owned by a succession of KR companies post-Acclaim

One of the most exciting sff books in Hungary right now revolves around sound and audio tapes and it was conceived specifically because the author had a hand injury and she had to turn to dictaphone writing & this body-limitation lead to a more involved exploration of other senses & ideas...

I feel like when people talk about the superiority of man made art over AI slop they tend to focus too much on the mystic of it and not enough on the fact that for a lot of artists the process is made up of a long series of complex and meaningful deecisions that a robot sucks at making.

What happens to us (as people, as physical being) will always shape what we create, for better or worse, our ideas and decisions are always grounded in life and being much more than a collection of tropes

Human made art isn't simply "superior". It's a window, a pathway towards something real and relatable. AI generated stuff is not "inferior", it's completely meaningless and useless.

Readig American fiction is like reading stories from Mars. These stories involve lonely 10 hour car rides and hidden military compounds. In Hungary you drive from a dwelling for 12 minutes, there's the next one. If you want to hide in the mountains, you'll meet 3 nosy neighbors on the way.

Another funny difference: American characters like to handle injuries / illnesses themselves because of the cost of treatment, but Hungarians are happy to go to the doctor's office simply as a recreational activity, gossip there like in a pub

Whereas the American protagonist is usually proactive and protective of their property (therefore more engaging), Hungarians would have a more comedic attitude with bargaining and hair-splitting, passive-agressive non-engagement in a conflict, looking for small, pitiful victories

The reason we generally have sub-par genre fiction is that we try to imitate whatever we see in American movies, but then the tried and tested tropes don't jibe with our cultural / economic realities.

A slick new coffee shop somewhere in Budapest put out a large menu with AI imagery and it was out for 24 hours and I have never seen it again. I'd like to believe that customers had taste and voice, but it's usally empty. A döner seller nearby has an old school menu like this and it's thriving.

This is what restaurant signs are supposed to look like

I'm very impressed with this collection, by the way. Hitbox-displays are game changing. Easy mode is more than welcome. You can use the Konami code to unlock Vs Gradius and another Salamander. That's 9 games with multiple versions. The M2-developed Salamander III is a bit undercooked but I love it!

Devastating news today. Richard “Levelord” Gray was such a great guy. Like many of our friends, I wish I could have hung out with him again. He was full of life, a gentle soul, and an excellent level designer. He was called “Levelord” for a reason.

Every collection M2 (ShotTriggers) put out is a staggering artistic and technical achievement, ports of the highest quality in terms of preservation down to the last frame of the most niche version, tons of extra modes and analytic tools, nobody even comes close and they sell like 24 copies

I know the average person finds $50-60 for 30-40 year old games hard to justify, but these are like Criterion film releases, just impeccable all around.
