In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

Can't help thinking that Govt is giving vague advice & threats about us each individually needing to prepare for crisis so none of us will complain too much when more of our £ is taken away from the already wrecked essential services for life & put into big budgets for missiles, nukes & jets.

I'm from remote countryside so I understand being prepared & have always had torches, batteries, radio, camping gas stove etc kept safe. But, the Govt is not giving clear advice about exactly what to get, how to store it safely so it lasts, where to store, rotations, shelf life. It's all unspecific.

There's resistance from people because many people are having to budget to even do the weekly shop & now Govt are telling us to buy extra to stick under the bed. What would Govt do in crisis, why aren't they telling us about their responsibility, water points, food distribution, information sharing.

Childhood Halloween. A local tenant farmer would be given an hour off or exempt from donating a first born to the wicker man or something by the local laird & would bring from field to school a sack of rock hard neeps even the sheep couldn't eat & we'd have at them with plastic safety knives.

Let me tell you what just happened. It's pissing down here in Bristol and my neighbour just knocked on the door to show me a photo of her cat on her phone. I'd be totally down with this and don't need a reason but the reason was her cat had been missing since about 5am this morning. I actually...

..the cat today but said I'd keep a look out as yes it was unusual for a cat to be out in this rain. Literally 10 mins later I hear a yowl and immediately look out the window in case it's the missing feline and instead I see the neighbour carrying the cat in her arms walking briskly up the road...

... telling the cat she will not be allowed out for the rest of the day! The cat looked very drenched, as did the neighbour. But all was well and neighbour informed me she'd spotted the cat hiding under a car down the road probably there all day! Impressive cat parenting.

I owned up to my cat being savage and said I recognised hers from the fur that's often hanging out of my cat's mouth. Anyway I hadn't seen

I’m on a train Were in a field Thankfully we are getting updates This is the sort of only in England experience that makes me lovehate this place “We don’t know why we are stopping here” “We don’t usually stop here” “I hope things are ok”

Glastonbury is one of my favourite places in the world & everyone has always said go to Totnes, it's the Devonian Glastonbury. No. It's Glastonbury with money, which is the worst of all possible worlds. (Of course I'm sure it's wonderful to live there, great restaurants, beautiful river, hills).

we need to get rid of billionaires and this is the only non-violent way to do it. so tough shit.

Most billionaire wealth isn't in yachts or jewelry — that's just a few percent of it. Most is productive business capital: companies that employ people, build things, and fund research. Tax that wealth and you're taxing the businesses that employ us all. Cato's Adam Michel explains.

Prejudice kills. Not in theory, not abstract, real. "they refused to treat because they didn’t have a single room. There were free beds on the single sex wards..She was suffering so much that she didn’t care if they put her on a men’s ward" sophie-molly-reports.beehiiv.com/p/transphobi...

Is Radical Feminism essentialist? No. It's the opposite because RF is the belief that all of us are more than the tired stereotypes we are taught; that all of us can change. It's a revolutionary movement because it believes in the potential of humanity to be humane, otherwise what's the point.

Everything is gender as you can see by this graph we are spending more on effete social care than masculine warmongering, as such the tale of modern britain is that we’re girly and gay what do you say minister???

Interviewing a govt minister Hazarika shows a graph comparing young people claiming PIP to the size of our armed forces & declares it "tells a story about modern Britain" I can't even make a sarcastic comment about our fearless fourth estate, because Hazarika is a Labour politician

"Consent education" is patriarchy's "thoughts & prayers", empty platitudes slithered out while the system carries on as usual. Sex is blurred with violence in our culture, violence is sexy, sex is violent. Men rape because they can, & get off on making women do what they want, it's not an accident.

Rape serves many functions in patriarchy, it reinforces male supremacy through force & totemic threat of force. In times & places it's formally a right & perk of privilege. It can also be a shock absorber for change & aggrieved entitlement, a way for men to reassert their status to self & other men.

The first is, in part, deployed to avoid having to do anything about the second.

Mrs. Betty Bowers@mrsbettybowers.bsky.social

Republican politicians are *obsessed* with schoolchildren coming home a different gender because of pro-trans teachers, WHICH NEVER HAPPENS. But they are completely indifferent to schoolchildren not coming home *at all* because of guns, WHICH HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!

In a culture that sexualises male sexual violence against women, we must expect sexual violence to occur consistently and largely with impunity. Rape hints: rape or the threat of it, is an everyday, sexualised trope in many films, adverts, TV. It's become normalised, but normal it is not.

Our culture raises boys as predators, women as prey, & fetishises this dynamic as the blueprint of heterosexuality. It becomes the definition of masculinity & the measure of men. As long as this continues men are pathetically easily groomed to "get" women, under threat of loss of male peer status.

Men must become gender traitors. Exhaust threats of rejection from people you should not want as equals. Start doing this in everyday conversations & peer groups. Act like you are disgusted by male sexual violence, openly & radically, because right now society expects you to be nothing but jealous.

All right, but apart from safer streets, cleaner air, and better business, what has low traffic ever done for us?

Oxford Clarion@oxfordclarion.bsky.social

A report on 5 years of Low Traffic Neighbourhoods in East Oxford shows that they have reduced road casualties by over 100. The report by the Coalition for Healthy Streets and Active Travel (CoHSAT) also points to the health benefits of reduced air pollution and performance of Cowley Road shops.

Speaking of voting, if you're a member and you'd like to keep the National Trust's Council free from interference from Britain (and the US's) richest financiers, don't forget to vote before the end of the month. Quick-vote takes moments and avoids the Restore Trust slate of candidates.

👋 Say hello to the stars of your new bank notes! After a public vote which saw over 2.5 million responses, the Bank of England have revealed the Atlantic puffin, barn owl, European hedgehog and buff-tailed bumblebee will appear on redesigned notes over the coming years.

Nobody is a "whore" because that's a patriarchal term used by men to control & police women's sexuality & independence. This culture creates terms to try to shame women, to police their sexuality, relationships, appearance, choices.

It's that time again! Remember: essential services cannot be left to the whims of charity. Why is the govt. not using our taxes for baby incubators, youth clubs & school counsellors? Poor ppl donate more, basically paying for services they need more & we're supposed to pat celebs on the back for it.

We’ve been talking about this for years. None of these far-right movements are organic.

Why taf has it been running as a news item all day that Camilla PB & Charles Windsor read books. Jfc. All this country is good for is olympic cap doffing. Maybe they could read some more books, more widely & learn something about their corrupt, parasitic existence. Embarrassing.

Last week South West Water were fined £8m for >200 sewage discharges in Devon & Cornwall over a 5 year period. Their mantra is “1 pollution is too many”. In the first 11 weeks of 2026, water companies had already dumped over 69,000 hours of sewage into bathing waters. ENOUGH. Public ownership now.

The series 'Furious' on Disney is good, she's no Lisbeth S & I had some problems at the start. But now I'm thinking, & this isn't a spoiler, but for those who have watched right to the end...I think 321 men or whatever is doable.

Watching coverage of Brand arriving at court makes me think someone should do a study of how men accused of rape performatively manhandle their female partners/wives like emotional support animals and props.

The science is real. I've only ever lived with male ginger rescue cats at home and will you find me discriminating against red haired men at work? No you will not.

And if you run the stats in this data set you actually find that having a female hamster at home stops men from committing rape.

This sort of coverage is so funny & by funny I mean awful. What I want is millions of research $ into finding out what on earth makes people heterosexual? Can heterosexuality be cured?
