What Trump did this week in D.C. is straight out of the authoritarian playbook: declare a fake emergency to seize power. It isn’t the first time. @normeisen.bsky.social and I highlight five other examples since the beginning of Trump’s second term: contrarian.substack.com/p/trumps-fak...

“He said DACA was canceled, that I would stand no chance in stay in the country.” That’s the lie an ICE agent told “Edgar,” a DACA recipient, during his detainment months ago. This administration terrorizes our communities with deception. They lie because cruelty is the point.

The Trump admin has acted again to endanger our public health. Led by HHS Secretary RFK Jr., this administration has been eliminating research funding, removing experts from advisory roles, promoting misinformation & kicking the public out of govt decision-making. This time the focus is vaccines (🧵)
Really good thread on efficient spending for public transit
Let's repeat the rules about transit investment: —Prioritize projects that will serve many people (you can do this by serving high densities of residents & jobs). —Serve those lines with frequent trains & buses. If you're not planning service every 30 min *at worst*, why are you building the line?
