I feel bad for Michael Carrick, but on the other hand I would love to wake up on Tuesday morning with a multi-million pound payout in the bank and I don’t have to go to work.

Man United will sack Carrick and bring in another veteran of the Fergie era to steady the ship, they’ll go on to do unexpectedly well and be awarded the full-time job then everything will instantly fall apart and the cycle will begin again

I have never seen coverage of a live trial, one involving allegations of multiple sex attacks on multiple women, framed in a more distasteful way. It's not 'Fame under fire' it's a rape trial. And it involves actual women. And this from the *checks notes* BBC

I’m amazed Man Utd v Spurs is allowed to be shown before the watershed. So many impressionable kids will see this level of mediocrity and think it’s okay. Worrying.

In ‘game reviews from 10 years ago’ I l’ve really loved playing Firewatch this past week. Short but completely absorbing and very moving too. It will leave a lasting impression with me I think.

🗣️ Pep Guardiola’s message after the verdict against #MCFC. “I am here; more than ever. I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran, the players, staff, Enzo and you, our unique supporters. Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all.”

If it ends up all being pie in the sky and totally unworkable and so on then fine, I’m a chump for falling for it all and more fool me. But I really just want to choose to feel some vague flicker of optimism during what has felt a relentlessly depressing few years, even if only for a short while.

My father-in-law: ‘Meant to ask you, what’s the name of that recent comedy film? It has two people in it.’ Me: ‘So a film with just two characters?’ ‘No, there are other people too.’ ‘What’s it about?’ ‘Not sure.’ ‘Who’s in it?’ ‘I don’t know.’ ‘Can you tell me anything else about it at all?’ ‘No.’
