BREAKING 🚨 The Scottish Government has approved the new gas burning power station at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. This decision is a catastrophic failure to protect people from climate breakdown and the greedy fossil fuel industry.

First the Jackdaw gas field, now Peterhead power station - by continuing to back new fossil fuels the UK and Scottish Governments are putting people in greater danger from extreme weather. We need climate solutions that improve lives - not new fossil fuels.

Now they are all gone. After the tech company illegally stripped the entire area to build a datacentre – taking even the top soil with it – all that remains is a vast expanse of mud indented with the trail marks of machinery, puddles and mounds of earth, roots and branches. BREAKING: The UK Govt has approved the Jackdaw gas field. This will put more people at risk from extreme weather and fuel poverty. It's a distraction from the fair transition away from fossil fuels. This MUST be the last North Sea oil and gas approval.

We said this was a *clear conflict of interest* five years ago when it was reported with previous members. It is astonishing that nothing has been done to stop this corporate capture of the oil and gas regulator.

The £2 bus fare cap is little more than a sticking plaster on a broken bus system that is failing communities and the planet. Cheaper tickets make little difference to people where buses don’t turn up, services have been cut, or a route doesn’t exist in the first place. foe.scot/press-releas...

Campaigners from across Scotland were outside the Scottish Parliament yesterday demanding a pause on plans for mega data centres in Scotland. Evidence now suggests that Scotland could end up with over 70 data centres - which would use the same amount of electricity as 8 million homes. 1/2
