New paper! journals.plos.org/plosbiology/... Postdoc extraordinaire @ireneon.bsky.social got to the bottom of a particularly vexing conundrum: The GPCR melanocortin receptor 4 (MC4R) is barely detectable in cilia, yet its localization to cilia is absolutely critical to body weight homeostasis.

Anyone could help with an ID? I've been seeing this vortex of cilia inside different dinoflagellate species at different sites along the European coast. It's several layers of cilia facing into a central cavity, emerging from regularly spaces basal bodies (arrows and centrin ). #ProtistsOnSky
