(1/4) I suddenly am getting an increase in "Followers", something I did not expect when I joined here! So maybe an introduction is appropriate. I am a native Texan who has lived in Europe for longer than I lived in the US. Therefore I post and comment on issues affecting both locations.

I read a comment comparing dt's rallies to a "farewell tour". I like that. We should see more references to "dt's Farewell Tour' when talking about these! Maybe that will finally push him into the heart attack he is heading for!!

ICYMI: Last week during a press briefing at the White House, dt went on one of his usual rants and demanded that Congress pass the SAVE Act right away. He said that if they do, Democrats will “never be elected again", admitting the whole point of the bill is to ensure one-party, GOP rule.

On 13.May, dt announced the administration intends to withhold $1.3 billion in Medicaid payments from California claiming "fraud". In 2020 dt commuted the 20-year sentence of Philip Esformes, convicted of fraud and theft from Medicare and Medicaid, then pardoned the $1.3 billion in restitution.

NATO was founded on the principle of mutual defense, a guarantee that "an attack on one is an attack on all". dt has a different view on this: "We will support you… but only if you support us first… in a war of our choosing… on the terms we set… and on which you had no say." A protection racket.

The status of the USA in the world, economically, politically, and especially morally, has been demolished. Our military power is being depleted and rapidly surpassed. So our remaining influence in the world is reliant on "soft power" which is culture and values-based, and this is diminishing.

Not sure what news programs in other parts of the world are saying, but in Europe and especially in Germany, the message is slowly getting out and less and less is it couched in nuance: "Trump will not quietly accept a midterm loss, and Europe — and American democracy — should prepare accordingly."

I have compared the current administration to Hitler's German Reich, but realise it is also taking examples from the USSR under Stalin as well as Putin, and the people's Republic of China. Not one to be outdone, dt seems determined to surpass them all. Watch Feb 24th, State of the Union and see.

Trump is threatening to block construction of a publicly owned bridge connecting Detroit and Canada, despite supporting the project in his first term. A billionaire who privately owns a competing bridge met with Howard Lutnick just days before Trump announced his opposition. Funny how that works.

Call your members of Congress, it doesn't matter what party they are. The entire deportation process is a money grab, using up the $165 Billion advance to DHS in the Big Bad Bill passed last year. There was $75 Billion for ICE and $65 Billion for CBP! Defund and take back those funds NOW!!
