Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for people who made the ultimate sacrifice. Today, we honor those who sacrificed by relaxing and enjoying the freedoms they died to preserve. So, we’re supposed to have fun, but we should never, ever wish anyone alive a “Happy Memorial Day”.

The Attorney General is so unserious. If you’re a prosecutor who is serious about obtaining a conviction, you don’t go on Fox and talk about the (alleged) facts of the case like this. Has Bondi read the Justice Manual? Has Bondi heard of pretrial publicity motions? How about bar ethics rules?

Just one more reminder that we had that completely alarming stocks down, bond yields up thing happen again today. I just think its nice to drop a note to myself to help keep track of all the calamities unfolding simultaneously.

This is so true. It’s like they never read a word of a Gospel. Nowhere does Jesus tell anyone to hoard their wealth, treat vulnerable people like dogs, and disobey the law. I’m also pretty sure Jesus wouldn’t be too keen on the idolatry.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia's membership or involvement in any gang or him being a terrorist is irrelevant to the issue at hand. What matters is that he receives the process he's due. What matters is that the government does not assume a prerogative above the law.

If you're mad about CECOT, you need to know that we do it here too!

I don't think DJT is up for this fight. Just because Harvard makes the lawyers who populate the firms he can punk around doesn't mean Harvard is going to fold like they do.

Trump’s sputtering response to Harvard standing up to him is yet another reason why institutions should refuse to bend the knee. He’s a paper tiger, unable to argue his own case.

This seems to be the only person in the sports world even vaguely aware of what's going on in the world.

Steve Kerr wore a Harvard basketball shirt after the Warriors’ win tonight: “Yes, this is me supporting Harvard. Way to go. Way to stand up to the bully.”

Here's a clue as to why arguments about the rule of law and preserving democracy fail to win elections: folks are into those things when they agree with the outcomes and couldn't care less about them when they don't.

I'm sorry, but shit is just out of whack: Total endowments of the eight Ivy League schools: $146 billion. Elon Musk's net worth: $367 billion. Home Depot's Market Cap: $355 billion. Tesla is worth 4 times more than Toyota.

If you're outraged about CECOT, you should be outraged by this as well. The fact it's happening within our borders makes it so much worse.

Sarah Stillman investigates deaths related to starvation, dehydration, and neglect in county jails across the U.S.—a crisis sometimes covered up by private health companies and government officials.

I agree with this. Sounds like anchoring, a negotiating tactic where I start at an extreme position so you feel like you’ve won when I concede to a less extreme one. Now did they plan this from the beginning or are they making the most of their mistake? Not sure.

10yr Treasury bond yields above 4.5% again with stock market opening lower...no bueno... Why care? One reason: higher bond yields = higher interest rates on home and car loans. Another reason: Bond market is sort of a vote of confidence (or not) in how a country handles its business...

When you go into something having already decided what you think, you'd be amazed how good you can be at resisting the impulse to learn the truth about it.

Ohh, Democrats, are you paying attention? Trump's calling off of the tariffs seems not to have calmed the markets like he had hoped. Y'all should be screaming that he is INCOMPETENT and that he is DESTROYING the economy, which is going to cost people their JOBS and their SAVINGS.

What the GOP plans to do with the budget right now is like demanding your salary to be cut in half, offsetting the loss by canceling your Netflix subscription, and then promising to pay down your credit card balances.

With economic calamity paused for 90-days, we can return our attention to the human rights abuses, destruction of our democracy, obliteration of the things that keep us safe and healthy, whitewashing of our history, and cheapening of our culture. Oh these interesting times.

For the layman, US treasury bonds have long been the safest of safe investments, meaning when the market tanks, people start buying bonds. In these cases, the 10-year yield goes down because bonds are being bought vs sold. If the yield goes up as the markets goes down, that is bad. Very bad.

150 million Americans don't have a passport. Trump thinks you should need one to vote. Marco Rubio is in charge of issuing passports.
