Look at this magnificent beast! So much moss that isn't moss 🍃

Nash Turley@nashturley.bsky.social

Someone on iNaturalist thinks this incredible moss-mimicking katydid I photographed in Ecuador is an undescribed species, no idea if that is true, but definitely possible, would be so cool if a taxonomist someday used these photos to describe a new species! www.inaturalist.org/observations...

I managed to drag myself to the park today. Because of course the wettest day of the month is the day I say to myself, "Yes. We NEED to go the park today." My socks got wet in my shoes. I saw magpie friends. I met fresh baby magpies in my area. But I definitely missed my chance to meet ALL of them.

#NextFest Demo #GameRec Mycelarium I spent 4.6 hours playing this last night. There isn't much to the demo as it stands. But I had the most satisfying time playing this slow incremental game You're a mushroom spreading through the dirt. Reaching out one click at a time. Dissociating bliss.

Today I'm dog sitting for my brother while he does a beer-run thing with friends for his birthday. We are both weird. Just in different ways. Beer is gross. So I'm going through my PAX Aus notes to share with you some games I learnt about. Yay! Game spam!!

On Friday I played the demo for The Troll & The Witch's House. I finished it! I have a terrible record of getting stuck in point and click games. You're a troll who has been captured by a witch and you need to escape her house. Out in 2027 store.steampowered.com/app/3811070/...

I started my PAX Friday with a couple meetups then attended my first panel of the weekend (I ended up going to ten): Why are games from Aus so weird? (Affectionate)

I kept replaying levels after I 100%'d the game and maxed all the things. After complaints at launch they adjusted a bunch of things and given I totally upgraded the 'wrong things' in the wrong order when I played it I have no comment on that. I hope they maybe have DLC sometime in the future.

Another Put It Away game. This one is 100% zero AI and made by a solo indie dev from Australia. #GameRec Includes a bunch of accessibility features, so I'm hoping this one doesn't make me nauseous Dev @shellbunny.bsky.social is more active on the Old Place. store.steampowered.com/app/5130150/...

PAX got me super inspired to share cool games. Because what I love is for indie games to find their people. Mostly I've been sharing in Discords, but sometimes I don't know who a games people is. So I may as well share here, too. I like Bluesky's growing gamer community. Maybe I'll find new friends.

Kinda just reposting because of all the entries to cool games I need to go through :D

Went to #PAXAus. Saw all the panels. Possibly too many panels? Accidentally ended up leaving my favourite part (indie game booths) to mostly the Sunday afternoon and THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH TIME. I sped-run them and only missed a couple games. I took notes. At panels and booths. :) I am numb

I went to ten (10) panels. I added 50 games to my Steam Wishlist :) The games I liked the look of best correlated with some of the nicest people I spoke to at the booths. Maybe my menty b end of Sunday means I don't crash this week? Maybe? Please? :)

Some moments include being the one person at the Overwatch panel who had never played OW. (I mod for Ricey who was on the panel, as she told the whole room) I met Bajo, then saw video of that on Corsair's twitter. And Sunday I went on a bit of a spending spree and bought quite a lot of pins. :)

I went to install the @paxaus.bsky.social app on my phone for next week. Wow. Fuck me I guess. And the map isn't even found on their website via a quick navigation. Pretty sure you literally have to access it via a search engine. C'mon. Do better, please.

Birthday at the zoo was good. I braved the butterfly house and they would not stay off my hat. The Tasmanian Devils were hecking menaces :) Saw Zillie the Cassowary. My legs and knees and feet hurt :)

Tomorrow's my birthday :) Thankfully I didn't break my foot last Saturday with a fall down the stairs - I totally would have posted a picture of that horror if the internet wasn't weird about feet - and I'm going to spend the day at the Zoo. But. Also. Maybe you'd like to get me a game?

fpvs@fpvs.bsky.social

Do I need any more video games? ... No Do I want more video games? ... YES :) My birthday is coming up (the end of September), and a bunch of cute incremental games are coming out SOON. So I added a Birthday Gift tag for my silly Steam Wishlist. And I tagged a bunch of casual games that EXCITE me.

I just tagged a bunch of neat games on my Wishlist as 'Birthday Gift' due to DEEP discounts. But literally, I've been playing 99% incremental games lately which go for cheap :) Maybe someone will buy me Bookstore Incremental ($11.50), Woodo ($15.08) or Doggy Don't Care ($18.85)?

I saw their most recent web comic on the old site and was like, "wait! I know them! ... Are they on Bluesky?" And they are. (obviously) Look at kitty. Awww

Saw my GP today for my foot. (fell down stairs on Saturday. foot got fucked up) He made me get an xray and told me if there was a fracture I'd have to get a moon boot. Xray technician let me look at the images. No fracture! So I will be headed to the zoo on Sunday. Hobbling around for my bday :)

So Yesterday(?) or the day before I checked forecast for Sunday and it was like 21ºC and cloudy and I was all, "Ok. That's nice weather. That could mean big crowds." I just checked. 15ºC. Possible shower. omg. Omg. This means QUIET ZOO. omg I am so excited. I get to wear my rain coat. YAY

So I did the thing I have worried about many times. I slipped wearing socks on stairs at my brother's place. Slid on the top of my right foot. So the second dose of aspirin has finally knocked out most of the pain. But I think it's a bit of a mess. Sorry doggos - I'm dog sitting - no walk tomorrow.

Good morning from Ginny and Barney. Barney is alternating between ear chomping and ear cleaning. Ginny was very tolerant until she wasn't, and then she rolled him around like a naughty baby.
