By day, I have a day job. But I'm not here to talk about that. Im here to talk about writing, art, goth/witchy topics, among other topics. I'm currently positioning to self-publish my first book, and there's lots to do: editing, cover and interior design, figuring out PoD, website, and marketing.

Folks can argue between themselves (and stupid AI) about the utility and value of EM dashes all they want. For me, the win goes to the more elegant EN dash. #writing

Though life has added detours to my path, as well it should, #goth is ultimately my heart's home. 4 years ago, I wrote about what goth means to me specifically. (Natch, I respect different perspectives.) This is my "manifesto" - for my book's protagonist too. www.inkandashes.net/2022/03/sorr...

What's your favorite Poe story and why? (OK to cheat with more than 1, but not more than 3.) Mine are: Masque of the Red Death Fall of the House of Usher I love their macabre psychology. #booksky #goth #gothic

Like many, I reject AI as a replacement for human thinking and creativity - and I have PLENTy of objections beyond that. But here's an "ordinary software" question: Do you appreciate spell check in your word processor? If so, would you object to "AI" to make spell check more efficient? #writing #ai

Really great tip!

Did you know that you can request books to your local library? Libraries often have a way to do this on their website! #selfpublishing authors, if you create through #IngramSpark, libraries can order your book! #booksky #writingcommunity #libraries #publiclibraries

I won't speak ill of fellow writers ... living writers, that is. Everyone else is fair game, and top of my list is Lovecraft. His prose isn't just purple, it's bruised. And his "cosmic horror" is banal philosophy at best. But I did enjoy "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath."

Do you have a least favorite author? #booksky #bookishQOTD

Cozy or hard boiled, a good murder mystery never trivializes victims, nor does it deny humanity to the murderer. That's one reason I love the genre: it offers a distinct approach to engaging tragedy with an eye for the totality of the human condition. #writing #murdermystery

Really intrigued about this book! Looking forward to reading it. (And yes, I do enjoy more than murder mysteries.) #booksky

Ah #WIPsnips I am sad to bid adieu for now Thanks for being another reason I'm excited to start a new book! It's my #ReleaseDay! 🔥🌊 Find my novel, Light After the Fall, most places you order books 🌱 a healing adventure in adapting after Collapse #writesky #booksky #writingcommunity #clifi #hope

Finally read Louise Pemny's "Still Life" after seeing the film adaptation starring Nathaniel Parker. While not enamored with her style, I did enjoy the characters, setting and plot. Very thoughtful and compassionate. Definitely want to read more in the series.

Hot take: True Detective S2 is better than it's reputation suggests. Ok, it lacks the King in Yellow's influence from the great S1, but it's still compelling noir (grim, but not pitch black) with fascinatingly flawed characters imho. #truedetective

Hello! A first post to mark the occasion of joining BlueSky ... I'm looking forward to talking about murder mysteries (mostly - I love SF too), goth culture, witchcraft, writing/storytelling in general ... and gnome sightings? Yes! Gnomes!

You are up to date.
