The City of Vancouver released detailed election results today — and they show a story of Pete Fry becoming mayor by winning the north of the city. Fry's highest results were 80% at Britannia Community Centre and 73% at Mt. Pleasant Community Centre.

Just in: In Vancouver's "public safety plebiscite," voters supported both measures by margins of more than 2-to-1, despite roundly rejecting ABC, the party that added the questions to the ballot. Now up to Green-COPE-OneCity majority council how to deal with these non-binding results.

Today we'll see results of Vancouver's "public safety plebiscite" that ABC added to the ballot, with questions on public drug use & "involuntary care" -- although ABC was thoroughly defeated in the election, it's possible voters still support plebiscite (despite not entrusting ABC to lead)...

... of course, it's also entirely possible Vancouver voters reject the plebiscite questions as roundly as they rejected ABC in the election! I haven't seen polling on this, but heard (purely anecdotally) from many people who voted yes on plebiscite, and then voted against ABC. So we'll see!

“Vancouver, grow up.” Video by Bob Mackin of Colleen Hardwick last night insulting the intelligence of anyone who voted for Ken Sim four years ago or Pete Fry now. I wonder if her base will ever change their opinions on whether this rhetoric has been an effective way of expanding her support.
