This Turkish/Italian thriller is a little Giallo, a little psychodrama and a little Vertigo. The entire plot operates on a kind of dream logic until you hit the finale. It’s packed with great performances and I had a pretty good time watching it. 3.5/5

Saw Clayface and liked it. While is does have some Comic Book movie DNA, it’s spends the vast majority of its time as a body horror (that’s more gross than expected). The vibe is pretty similar to Midnight Meat Train if y’all remember that. 3.5-4/5

RIP Tom Skerritt (1933–2026) I know everyone is gonna talk about Alien and Top Gun, so here’s a couple of lesser known films he had a major role in that I enjoyed.

Part Spanish Giallo, part Drama and part Psychedelic Neo-Gothic chiller, this film was more than a little confusing. There’s some great performances, nice camerawork and vibes. Just enough positives for me to enjoy it. Trigger Warning: They show real cows being slaughtered at a factory 3/5

This was a very intense and very bleak revenge thriller. While all sexual violence happens either off screen or in brief shadowed snapshots, this is still a very violent film. That’s your trigger warning. 4/5

This was a very strange film. Is kinda a mix of Decoder, Most Dangerous Game and Avenging Angel. It’s also very very queer (despite the hetero leads) and very punk. Lots of vapor wave color grading. Lots of pounding synth. I had a blast. 3.5/5

Now watching Poppers (1984)

This was a extremely good and very unsettling thriller that touches upon the horrors of illegal abortion clinics in Franco’s Spain. I highly recommend it if you’re in the right headspace for this kinda thing. PS: This director really loved Hitchcock 4/5

Now watching That House in the Outskirts (1980)

The most popular horror films on letterboxed I haven’t seen and the least popular horror films/horror documentaries on letterboxed that I have seen.

One part examination of a young married couple whose relationship is always on the verge of falling apart and one part observation of a entire community of a poor French fishing village. Very sad, touching and sweet. A great first effort from a director who would become a legend. 3.5/5
