#California Residents: Since 2019, #bobcat hunting has been prohibited in California. That could change with the publication of the draft Bobcat Conservation and Management Plan by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW). CDFW is seeking public comment on the plan.

Major markets like the U.S. Most non-plug-in full hybrids (HEVs) sold in North America use internal combustion engines engineered to meet California’s SULEV (Super Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle) standards.

Automakers achieve this by pairing Atkinson-cycle engines with fast-warmup catalytic converters and using electric assist to avoid high-emission engine load states. Globally, equivalent standards (e.g., Euro 6d/7) ensure similarly low tailpipe emissions.

If it is possible to know which specific companies are now going to be selling Russian fuel in the US, someone please let us all know because that’s something many of us want to know.

Geely acquired Volvo’s EV platforms, safety tech, and global reach. Factories operate in Sweden, Belgium, China, and the US. High prices stem from Western labor costs, tariffs, and EV tech expense—raising questions about public affordability and corporate profits.

Severe volume declines in China (-40.6%) and the U.S., fierce price wars, trade tariffs, high inventory levels, and EX90 software delays have forced heavy cost-cutting and job reductions.

Readers challenged Christopher Mims to try an affordable EV on a route with less-than-ideal charging options, so he devised a nearly 1,000-mile torture test for a 2027 Chevy Bolt. Here’s what happened. 🔗 on.wsj.com/47xrCF5

In 2026, California's new zero-emission vehicle (ZEV/EV) market share stands at 16.4%, down from 2025 due to expiring federal credits and high prices. Meanwhile, standard non-plug-in hybrids (HEVs) hit a record 22.8% share, and gas vehicles account for 56.3%. We have to do much better.

A Social Democratic Perspective on HEVs While HEVs offer immediate fuel efficiency gains without requiring new charging infrastructure, relying strictly on private market hybrid adoption isn't enough to solve the climate crisis.

A truly sustainable transition requires public investment in widespread clean grid infrastructure, accessible public transit, and high-standard, union-backed green manufacturing.

Power management is no different than watching your old gas gauges except now you know how many miles you have left and how close all the charging stations are located. No need to use fast chargers much as the home charger is all we need 97.5% of the time. insideevs.com/news/813137/...

On the time curve, the fit puts China at 50% BEV somewhere between late 2026 and mid 2028. That's 50% systematically, not 50% in particular months. 80% extrapolates to around 2031, but coming closer.

Your gonna see lots of deals on CCP backed PRC BEVs as the market contracts from around 130 makes to perhaps 12. Where will the parts and support come from all the discontinued models?

Natural Insolvency: Smaller, poorly funded startups are continually going bankrupt, being liquidated, or being acquired by larger groups for their manufacturing facilities and licenses.

Price War Shakeout: A relentless domestic price war has squeezed margins. Out of more than 100 registered EV brand entities over the past decade, only a small fraction (e.g., BYD, Li Auto, Geely, SAIC) operate at sustainable scale or profitability.
