I don't know what kind of Thursday you're having, but I just sent a ticket to my workplace IT describing a noise coming out of my printer as "a herd of chickadees". Which is both accurate and alarming.

I haven't bought Homesense Art ℒ️ in a long while, but if I was going to again, it would be this.

Yesterday's @hfxgov.bsky.social Halifax Transit tomfoolery. These were the options for me for a midday errand. This time the winning choice was to drive, I clustered a few other errands like dropping off to donation bins to make it "worth" it.

I ended up choosing the combination walk and bus. 20min first spent walking the complete opposite direction of the traffic flow to my end destination. A total of 15min riding, between 2 buses. Door-to-door time: 54 minutes. Various factors made this the winning option in the end - this time.

This is the best way I can describe how @hfxgov.bsky.social Halifax Transit is complete garbage for anything other than travelling to the downtown peninsula. 9 min drive, or 1h and 5 min walk or ... 56 minutes by bus (which includes 23 minutes of walking). 1/

When folks who have access to a private vehicle, to see all this time added for a few errands - it can't be worth it. I already paid my car payment, my insurance, my maintenance. Now you want me to spend an hour for the sake of a drop's worth of emission reductions? 6/

My job requires me to have a car because I may be needed across the province at the drop of a hat. My husband does not. But his 18 minute drive at 6am turns into 2h+ (if he can even get there on time). A more efficient suburb to industrial area focus on transit would make us a 1-car home. 7/end

It was both cost- and time-effective. In order for transit to be used, that's where the trade-off needs to be. For folks with income or accessibility that doesn't support a private vehicle, in HRM, the second level of poverty added becomes time-poverty with this transit system. 4/

Tripling (or whatever 10x-ing is) the amount of time to get from point A to point B removes so many hours from a day. Hours that could be used to increase income, engage in community or volunteer opportunities, or feed a soul with a hobby. The hustle and grind gets bigger and bigger. 5/

Until @hfxgov.bsky.social Halifax Transit recognizes that suburban areas are places that many Haligonians travel within and between, our traffic congestion will never improve. Not everyone needs to go downtown. I just want to meet my husband somewhere instead of taking two vehicles 2/

The fact that our single-ride fare is now going to be the same as Toronto is not just laughable, it's insulting. I was in Toronto this summer and with kids, luggage, and multiple accommodations across the GTA we did choose to get a rental car. We used transit for many excursions. 3/

Not sure if this will be therapeutic, effective, or simply aggressive... But when I come across something in my house that someone didn't complete, I am snapping a photo, marking on it how long it took me to correct, and sending it our digital photo frame in the kitchen.

not sure which store(s) but on Saturday Winners has partnered with Craigs Cookies to remind you that you can't shop Winners online (and like a website) They are getting customers to accept cookies before browsing

Apparently Hilroy's QC has needed some support for a while. Found this gem while doing some paperwork clearout. It's at least 3 years old based on the kiddo/grade matchup, but the scribbler itself could be older.

I have had a recent experience with Nova Scotia Health care that I can only describe as perfect. Our health care system leaves a lot to be desired. Especially by way of equity access, preventative care, female health, and mental health. 1/

I came home safe to my kids. That's all we want everyday, from any aspect that we need to access healthcare. Keep pushing government to improve and fix and keep up, but remember that those providing the care, booking your appointments, cleaning the environments are not who needs to hear it. 10/

They live it and breathe it, daily. Hourly. The front-line physicians, nurses, healthcare workers, admin professionals, and support staff are not just "doing their job". They are finding every which way possible to get your care as soon, as comfortably, as humanly possible. I'm grateful. 11/end

I heard more laughter from staff, from patients, from all than I heard anger or impatience or anything negative. For a sliver of a moment I even thought "is this a world of healthcare I could work in again?" Which I can promise, is not a thought that has crossed my soul in over 4 years. 8/

My surgery went well. I'll be off work for a week. Pros and cons to all of that, but again, I will no true negative impact in being off work. My quality of life was a deciding factor for this healthcare team to have my surgery ASAP rather than on the waitlist. 9/

Sitting at home, a call from my family doc. Checking in. Asking the plan. Around 4:30pm, the surgeon calls. "Can you be here for 10am tomorrow? Can't guarantee when you will get in but as long as no other emergencies, it'll be done." Say less. I'm in! 6/

Over three days, I spent a total of about 16 hours at the DGH. In all aspects, I saw health care professionals treating everyone from all walks, for all reasons, with respect, dignity, and true care. Systematic improvements on coordinating testing and movement to increase efficiency. 7/

In conversation with my family doc, who was the attending ER physician - horseshoe, meet ass [not the underlying medical concern] - I was to return early the next AM for a detailed ultrasound. The next AM -the first day of school for my elementary and junior high kiddos. Support system, go! 4/

Day 2 in ER. Ultrasound. Bloodwork. Doc talk: "Girl, your gall bladder is too toxic and we want to support you with some health boundaries by removing it ASAP. The on-call surgeon, he has an opening tomorrow. Go home, he'll call you this afternoon" 3 hours. Home again, another plan. 5/

I recognize the enormous privilege behind my experience: - a professional healthcare background. - a consistent primary care provider/clinic for my adult life. - a deep and broad personal and family support network. - reliable transportation and a flexible and supportive employer / benefits 2/

This week, I experienced a true medical emergency. After not holding down solid food for 48h, with no other symptoms indicating a GI bug, I made my way to the ER in excruciating pain on Wednesday. With the pain subsided, I was discharged 5 hours later after labs and X-Ray. With a plan. 3/

The sweetest girl had a vet check-up this morning and I decided to buy her and her brother a toy. The photo on the packaging! Couldn't help but attempt an inspired photoshoot when we got home 😻

And Tim Curry today?! WTAF. Meltdown at the table, this some bullshit. Fund science, attend local arts, read to children, be a good neighbor.

Bucket list βœ… Seeing RENT performed by a professional cast! Neptune Theatre blew it away last night. Such a creative idea with Mark's camera. I knew Geordie Brown was the perfect casting choice for Mark - honestly, the whole casting department nailed it.

All of the main cast choices blew it away. The ensemble though... 🀌🏻 Thaydra Gray's pipes for the solo in Seasons of Love - untouchable! I think I need to arrange to go at least once more. The run is currently set to run until Aug 30

I'm currently reading Tim Weir's "Making Rent". He was the original music director for Rent. Having more inside background knowledge on the song choices and creation was a very special touch. I need to finish it before I see it again at Neptune!

Mimi has never been my favorite character. Something about the way Chariz Faulmino played her though - quirkier, campier, gaudier. A very different Mimi and was the sneaky delight for me.

Today, the other baseball moms are keeping me sane. One picked up a spare iced coffee on the way to the field, and another offered to pick up my merch order with hers in the middle of our game. These pieces of kindness and teamwork are why I love living at the ballfield all summer!

And another mom was ready with Tylenol for one of the coaches who needed it. It's the default parent in all of them that let my default parent brain shut off a bit when we are here. This is what's missing in the rest of my life.

I sincerely apologize. I misread the MLB App and tried to troll my husband jokingly and then Bregman hit that homer in the bottom of the 9th. It's my fault.

I really enjoy the NYT puzzle games. I don't love how it's AI to "summarize" the results. Like... Everyone who was a human in North America in 1990 or later knows why I made this mistake. Silly stupid robot.

My kids have been gone for 4 nights. My husband and I have gone on 3 dates, prepped a room for a paint-over, worked at our jobs more hours than "needed" and still had time to relax and start perusing our next big family vacation. This is what "not everyone has the same 24h in a day" really means!

Lindsay Graham is dead! Mitch McConnell is on death's doorstep! These are weird things to feel a buzz of glee about! Am I losing my humanity?! NOPE.

Break the cycle... This has got to be a better option for me than turning into a naggy rage monster for the next 3 weeks. $20 says each of the 3 picks a different tactic, and I still incur a massive mental load, but at least I have a "you picked this!" to point to?
