I write and I co-founded TransWrites.world / @TransWrites.world to platform trans voices around the world. I'd say we're not doing so bad at it so far.

here's an idea every time you see a bigoted rage bait piece in the guardian or wherever else (you shouldn't, don't read the guardian. they are bigoted shitheads.) how about instead of sharing that piece you share some cool work by trans people. music, art, writing, poetry or anything! just trans.

cornish person girl@gemma.transwrites.world

"SHAME ON THE GUARDIAN FOR PUBLISHING THIS! <FULL LINK TO THE GUARDIAN ARTICLE>" please for the love of fuck can you all understand they are doing this on purpose because outrage generates more clicks than agreement SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE YOU ARE SHARING IT. STOP IT. STOP IT NOW.

the only reason I haven't muted every jack ass on here still using twitter is because I don't use twitter and so don't know about them tbh.

LittleKuriboh@littlekuriboh.bsky.social

While the second hate campaign aimed at a trans creator in the last six months once again thrives over on Twitter, I’d hope the folks calling themselves allies who decided to go back over there because Bluesky is no different would consider not being there.

one of the greatest examples of journalism in the UK for the last 30 years was Brian Deers work exposing Wakefield's abuse of autistic children re vaccines. and it wouldn't exist if he were just a "neutral observer doing objective journalism". No. He gave a shit about the kids! that's all it took!

cornish person girl@gemma.transwrites.world

it's actually cool and okay to care about the things you're investigating and reporting on. It actually makes your work better to be personally invested rather than just going through the motions to collect a pay check. every single piece of journalism considered incredible followed the above.

friend died and one of the things I kept from their stuff was some art printed/painted on tin. Peter Blake's Babe Rainbow from 1968. It's rusted as hell and I'd love to get it restored. but I haven't a clue where to start looking. anyoooooone?

he really said

Any Austin@anyaustin.bsky.social

I BELIEVE IN YOU YOU CAN SUCCEED BELIEVE IN YOURSELF TRUST YOUR MIND CONTROL YOUR THOUGHTS GOD DANG IT BUILD STRONG BELIEFS ACT WITH CONFIDENCE ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER AND KEEP GOI NG, JACKASS

when someone got angry at me b/c I wrote something which overlooked culturally specific gender identities my response was to pay them money and let them write about culturally specific gender identities to fill in the gaps in my knowledge a little. It isn't hard work! it's easy and rewarding!

This piece is going to make me become The Joker oh wow you don't understand what being a nonbinary transfem could be WHY DON'T YOU FUCKING ASK SOMEONE INSTEAD OF SCREAMING ABOUT HOW THEY'RE NOT ONTOLOGICALLY REAL AREN'T YOU SUPPOSED TO BE FUCKING ACADEMICS??????????? MOREOVER, ICE MUST BE DESTROYED

there is no such thing as the neutral observer in journalism. there is no such thing as "objective journalism". These ideas are just bullshit marketing meant to make you think their work is somehow better than someone who openly cares about the subjects they investigate and report on.

Mira@thefreeradical.org

ill be honest i think muckraking journalism should be the default and attempts at "objective" journalism should be laughed off the fact that its got enough derision among the gentry elite that the term emerged as an insult is a testament to the degree that mainstream journalism is a joke

and like... who the fuck else is doing this work??? The only cis people I see regularly writing about trans issues are bigots. maybe we don't want to give them the entire floor through this bullshit nonsense of "objective journalism" and "neutral observers"????

also probably like... super dangerous to promote these ideas as if they're real? especially for minorities. in trans journalism for example it pretty much just means people automatically write off anything you have to say because you're trans - there's no way you could be objective...

no you see, terrorism is when old woman oppose genocide with placard. Everyone knows this!

Tom Usher@tomusher.bsky.social

You have to laugh at the sheer insanity of Turning Point UK being found to be organising literal contract killings and paid agitation at protests up and down the country and it barely even raises a flicker across the press. If that isn't 'terrorism' on some level I don't really know what is

and its like even if there were designer HRT that was wildly more expensive than the generic stuff WE WOULD THINK THATS BAD because its exploiting healthcare needs for profit - aka WHAT BIG PHARMA ACTUALLY IS WHEN YOURE NOT A DERANGED BIGOT.

THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES ARE SUING! (or not probably. it's hard to tell i guess.)

YZai Creates@yzaicreates.bsky.social

Mine would be "There will be thousands of people who regret their choices... any second now... aaaaaaaaany second now." It's like an end of the world doomsayer watching the days go by with no doom in sight.

a classique! Because it's so easy to be trans! always has been! no I've never read a god damn thing about trans or gay history and I'm not about to start now that you've got angry with me! hahahahaha

Max@swordznsorcery.bsky.social

I like the one where trans people are really just gay, and are looking for an easier life. (I'm not saying that being gay is easy, but blimey.)

calling trans people elitist is very funny But it's not my favourite blatant bigot lie. that award has to go to "trans is big pharma" as if we're all such huge fans of the pharma industry and don't regularly talk about how restricted our health care access is

no sense trying to debunk or argue with bigots who say this zany stuff. they should just be ritually mocked while we get back to providing healthcare, food and community support to our fellow trans friends.

yesterday was p fun ngl. Oldschool Runescape released a new raid (which is some big team content stuff with great drops usually) and i spent a lot of the day hopping between the channels of people figuring it all out and getting first completions. fully made me feel like a baby gamer again.

transmedicalism discourse is hilarious and ridiculous in the cold hard light of an average of 25 year wait lists and doctors who pretend they can't read numbers off our blood test results. It's like arguing about how fast a pigs fly or exactly how many billions Elon Musk could give up.

briefly saw a notification in my mentions about Trans Writes and truthfully the bottleneck is money. I know people would do work for free but the point was always to make sure trans people get paid for doing work. So that's not an option. But I am going to do more streaming & save up the pennies

So yeah. My greatest apologies for it taking so long. But unless some rich cis folk are about to drop upwards of ten grand in my lap or somehow I win a lottery I don't play, it's gonna be a long road towards where I want it all to be. rest assured, I think about it every day and I'm trying my best!

Huge shout out to everyone who has supported me in this mission so far and in future. You're the back bone of everything Writes was and can ever be. You're why it matters to get this right and I'll never take that for granted. Thank you.

I want to bring it back and slowly but surely expand it out in all the cool ways I've mentioned previously ie regular online game nights, stickers, tshirts and other stuff. But I want to do all of that stuff 'right' and not just quick cheap and easy. eg we make our own tshirts, not using a service.

I could bring it back and start doing those things tomorrow but it would defeat the point. We'd be giving up a lot of your money to said services rather than keeping it in the community and lifting us all up together. And that's just not what I want for Writes. It can be so much better than that.

ball park figures... but to take what we already have and remake it into something I can eventually commission people to help me expand is probably around the £10k mark. Writes currently has a bit over £2k. So it isn't completely unreachable via streaming over the course of a year.

I'm just also going through a lot of personal shit and working on my sobriety so have been a bit avoidant of hitting the go live button. Even though every time I have done I've had a lot of fun hanging with those of you who showed up :D. But I'm working on it! I promise!

it's just a joy theft machine it robs you of the joy of creating things - sure... creation is hard work but also THAT'S WHY IT'S FUN. THAT'S WHY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN DOING IT FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS.

Ian Danskin@innuendostudios.bsky.social

not a single new avenue, new style, new practice, or new product made with AI. all the coolest stuff - the cupcake go-karts and crocheted tents and robots and trebuchets and houses made of spoons - were all handmade. they want you to get excited about the technology but you can't see a use case.

idk man even if they magically invent AI that doesn't copyright theft and isn't shit for the environment or eats up computer components making prices for everyone else wacky... I still wouldn't want to use it. I enjoy making things. it tickles my brain good to figure stuff out myself. it is fun.

the truth is that nobody is "just a man" or "just a woman" for healthcare purposes. not even cis people. not even cis people who aren't specifically intersex. But it's cheaper and easier to be cruel to trans people than it is to provide us all with the individualised healthcare we all need.

we're all standing on the same rope bridge here. sadly the bigots are all too happy to cut the ropes under the promise that they'll get to see us plummet to our deaths, forgetting that they'll probably not be far behind us.

"other people are doing it" as me mom always said whenever i did something stupid and used that excuse: if other people jumped off a bridge would you do it too?

The Society of Authors@societyofauthors.bsky.social

Our position on generative AI remains unchanged. But an increasing number of organisations within the publishing industry are using the technology. In her blog post our CEO sets out why we want to see the adoption of cross-industry standards. buff.ly/DCPZPY2

asking them pretty please be transparent about it (so everyone can judge accordingly and avoid your shit) isn't gonna work! and then you tried to cover that by using inclusion as an excuse??? its an absolute mess lmao.

yeah don't get me wrong! I think my presence online has been a benefit and I'm grateful for all the support I've received for doing it. It's just mostly that I was preaching to the choir - I don't think I ever changed a bigots mind for the better. if anything I gave them something to push against.

Fortuna of The Sanctuary@meetrasurik.bsky.social

Please don't think that you had no impact, just because the UK gov is against us. I remember reading your stuff over there. Like a lot of trans writers or journalists, you helped to educate a lot of people who knew nothing of us of substance. In anything in life, big wins come from small victories

bigots are basically spoilt toddlers having a tantrum in a supermarket. You can't reason with them, shouting at them only makes it worse. People will start judging you badly for it all. There's really nothing you can do except scoop them up and carry on getting the shopping done.

in this metaphor "getting the shopping done" is building safe and thriving community spaces. ensuring everyone in our communities needs are met irrespective of what bigots might think or do.
