There's about a day and a half remaining to participate in this year's Gender Census survey. It's open to anyone who feels the M/F binary doesn't explain/describe their experience of their gender(s) or lack thereof. Give 5 mins here: survey.gendercensus.com #LGBT #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA #survey #gender

We went from 30,000 to 50,000 so fast that I didn't have a chance to make the 40,000 pic! Did you put your gender on inside-out this morning? Do this survey: survey.gendercensus.com #LGBT #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA #gender

Just reposted this with a minor correction to the top 20 graph. All the names were in the right order and their bars were in proportion to each other, but the percentage markers on the X axis were slightly off, oops. 😬 Here's the corrected post: bsky.app/profile/gend...

In other news, I have been mega-Blazed on Tumblr (someone gave the survey post a 2,000 impressions in 24h Blaze and Tumblr decided to bump it up to 100,000 in 24h for free) and now I'm scared to check my Tumblr activity page and I got 8 anon asks overnight 🙈 It's VERY GOOD for the survey but a lot!

I just got home and I'm sitting down to untangle some technical issues with Tally, and I've got a DM from someone on Tumblr apologising for putting the survey link on Reddit because the post has 80k views, and the Tally UI says there are over 42,000 responses?????????? That's 10,000 in 18 hours????

Well, I've done *some* untangling, but apparently about 6,000 of them came from Twitter, which is impressive because yesterday only 50 or so people had turned up from Twitter?? :D

@reclaimournames.bsky.social

People are being super cute about this, reaching out to make friends with all the people who share their unusual names and such! 🥰 WhatsApp groups where everyone has the same obscure nonbinary name and they just share good recipes and pet photos?

Because of the Tumblr Mega-Blaze, we have blown past 28,000 and are now about to reach 29,000 responses! :O If your gender is a rare limited edition, you would be very welcome at the Gender Census: survey.gendercensus.com

31 July

Hi folks! 13 days left and we're well on the way to 27,000 participants, about 300 to go. I have nerdily added some notes to some graphs so that I can see what affects the numbers. If your gender is a rare and valuable Limited Edition, please click here to do the survey: survey.gendercensus.com

We now have a new, A5, 2026-specific flyer! This flyer: docs.google.com/document/d/1... This and everything else is in the Google Drive folder: drive.google.com/drive/folder...

27 July

On the referrers tab of the participation spreadsheet, 16 people arrived at the survey from a flyer. The next one up is Twitter (22 people). It would be so funny to me if "flyer/leaflet" could be above Twitter, because Elon Musk is a knobhead. Printable flyers here: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

The gap is closing! Printable flyers: - Google Doc: docs.google.com/document/d/1... - PDF: www.gendercensus.com/wp-content/u...

So far, countries that are flyering well: USA - 8 UK - 5 Germany - 2 New Zealand - 2 Prefer not to say - 2 Poland - 1 Switzerland - 1 81% of people who get to the survey with a flyer haven't participated in the survey before, which is particularly good!

I'm not sure how likely it is, but if we manage to get about 450 more submissions in the next 8 hours or so, that'll be 23,000 by the end of the day. :) In theory very attainable, as most days of the survey so far have been over 1,000!
