Strategic voting in Mt Albert could see National lose a front bencher. Wellington Bays is also interesting. JAG is guaranteed a seat via the list but it would be a shame to not have Craig Rennie in the next parliament. Should Green voters be strategic there?

This election is shaping up to be the most strategically voted in the MMP era. From TPM to Mowbray’s split the vote to NZF and Act, all promoting some form of voting strategy to skew the result.

This will probably affect National the most – Willis, Bishop and Goldsmith all at risk of not returning – and Labour will lose a lot of its list too.

I cannot emphasise enough how bad Luxon's economic speech was today - a veritable torrent of crap. Seriously. If this is what Treasury are giving him to say they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. I'll try and keep my critique to six points.... [🧵 1/n] www.1news.co.nz/2026/09/14/w...

1news.co.nzFull video: PM Luxon holds post-Cabinet media briefingThis is the second to last week that Parliament is sitting before it rises for the election.

It’s ironic that National announces an education policy to train future generations for service work and our growing international reputation is for aerospace – RocketLab, Dawn, and Kea.

Luxon has been MIA as a leader since December last year. He’s been doing the ceremonial stuff but Willis, Bishop, Brown, and Peters & Jones have fronted the government. Crisis of confidence or mental health issues?

Subsidized LNG terminal anyone?

You might have formed the impression that Paul Johnson, former director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, knows what he's talking about. The media treats him like the voice of God. But here he is - and not for the first time - talking out of his hat. Let's break it down in a short thread. 🧵

How much more evidence do we need? The ultra-rich and the governments supporting them will destroy everything for the sake of profit, power and pride. Nothing is precious to them - not human life, not the living world - except their own wealth and status. Our survival depends on resisting them.

NEW ON EXIT FROM AFFCO: Jeffery Epstein and Lawrence Krauss’ planned (but cancelled) trip to New Zealand in 2010, Krauss’ attempts at a Epstein-funded institute at Otago Uni, and a wider discussion on Epstein, Aotearoa, and why elites keep flocking here www.exitfromaffco.com/p/epsteins-p...

Missing PM update. Spotted this evening on Onetangi ((Waiheke) not back at work. I saluted him with a single finger and he responded with a thumbs up. Knob.

From National using generative ai still images in 2023 to this. Can’t wait to see what Topham Guerin does next year.

Andrew Cuomo’s campaign just posted — and quickly deleted — this AI-generated ad depicting “criminals for Zohran Mamdani.” Features a Black man in a keffiyeh shoplifting, an abuser, a trespasser, a trafficker, a drug dealer, and a drunk driver all declaring support for Mamdani.

Any budding kiwi Cassetteboys out there? Luxon has the tone, the material and the look to take on Slim Starmer.

New! Cassetteboy vs Keir Starmer. This took absolutely ages, so if you'd like to buy us a coffee at ko-fi.com/cassetteboy we'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

That was a very compelling, reasoned and, yes, passionate argument. Brownlee excels in ineptitude and hypocrisy. But, more importantly, where the fuck were all the MPs, the house was practically empty on both sides of the house? Spineless or otherwise.
